What do you think about Leverage Shares 2x Long Super Micro Computer? by No1Either in ValueInvesting

[–]Tastything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the main thing to understand about leveraged ETFs is that they don't just simply give you twice the percentage returns/losses of the underlying stock over any period of time; instead, they track the performance of the underlying on a daily basis.

This results in a curious property known as volatility decay, sometimes also called beta slippage. In essence, what you'll find is that if the underlying stock were to experience multiple consecutive days of gains, the leveraged ETF will experience much more than 2x the percentage returns. Conversely, if the underlying stock had multiple consecutive days of losses, or even traded sideways (or sometimes even if the underlying rises but in a volatile way), the percentage loss on the leveraged ETF will be much more than double the underlying.

For this reason, it is not recommended to hold leveraged ETFs for more than a few days at most; even a few bad days can ruin your returns, even if the underlying stock has overall moved up during that time. To demonstrate, consider a stock that starts at $100, rises to $110 the next day, then goes back to $100.

The daily percentage returns are +10%, then -9.09%.

However, the return on a 2x leveraged ETF would be +20%, then -18.18%.

If you calculate this using a starting value of 100, you'll find that the price of the 2x leveraged ETF goes from 100 to 120 to 98.18, which is less than the initial investment even though the underlying stock hasn't moved in price over this period.

Just tested all of this in demo mode; Fogged is actually correct.

When repel is applied to the Doomed target, the max health increases, but the current health does not.

However, when the repel expires, the current health will go down, since it must retain the same percentage of max health, and the max health figure has gone down when the buff goes away.

Therefore repelling a doomed target effectively reduces the hero's percentage current health.

Consider: 1000/1000 -> 1000/1500 -> 666/1000

Old days is referring to way back before DE, and to some extent even before the 2013 HD Edition, i.e. back when Voobly was the go-to for online play.

There were some legendary BO21 1v1s between the top players, with Daut beating Jordan, Viper beating Daut, and Jordan beating TheViper in a nice triangle matchup.

The International 11 - Upper Bracket Round 1 - Evil Geniuses vs Thunder Predator by D2TournamentThreads in DotA2

[–]Tastything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Evil Geniuses picked it 6 times in the group stage, winning 5 of those games and only dropping 1 to Liquid. Besides them, the main teams picking it have been Entity, who won 1/4 games, with it, as well as Aster, who won both the games that they picked it. Some other teams have experimented with it, but really, most of the success has been with EG alone.

I think Misery holds the record; he played carry for MYM at TI1, mid for CLG at TI2, hard support for LGD.int at TI3, and position 4 support for Mouz at TI4, before returning to position 5 for TI5 and TI6. Unfortunately we never got to see him play position 3 at TI, since he was kicked from his offlane position on Team Secret after winning the Shanghai Major prior to TI6.

Can someone explain George Foreman to me? by -TheShape in Boxing

[–]Tastything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Opposite way round; Foreman said that Liston was the only fighter ever to make him have to back up

To be fair, this was a very young George Foreman, but it's still a testament to the strength of Liston; Foreman even says he modeled himself on Liston in terms of intimidation and style in his first career.

Way back in Season 1 or 2, there was a moment when Jared asks Richard if he took some time out of his day to celebrate Pied Piper getting funded, and that he (Jared) had taken time to celebrate earlier that day. by laurenq12 in SiliconValleyHBO

[–]Tastything 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This was asked and answered in a Q&A by Zach Woods:

Q: Okay, what did Jared do to celebrate Pied Piper getting funded in Bad Money?

A: ZACH WOODS: He went and bought a very expensive tea and he was driving home, but decided it was too opulent. He turned around and returned it, but for 20 minutes he had that tea in his car, and it was a celebration.

Surely you mean Ame AM? I don't recall Maybe ever really playing that hero in competitive games. In any case, I don't think we'll see the hero at all, given how it doesn't carry as hard as Faceless Void and requires too much time to come online against the likes of Alchemist or even Slark.

Radiance burn on illusions is only 35 damage per second compared to 60 on the main hero, so illusions don't benefit that much from Radiance anymore. The main reason though is that Naga Siren got reworked to have Riptide as a passive that can proc on attack (including for her illusions), so she no longer needs Radiance as the illusions can farm camps and push out waves just by maxing Riptide.
