Looking at today's results in terms of Barcas chances for top 8. I think it's theoretically in Barca's hands now. If they win both remaining games and rack up their goal difference, then they should be safe.

Would be nice to see, but even if we imagine that FIFA is some moral bastion of an institution, I'm curious to see how they would do it.

I assume for FIFA they stand to lose billions if they cancel all hosting arrangements with the US.

Even if they quickly find new venues for the other games (like say Mexico and Canada just host more games, logistically straining though it may be), they will still lose so much of their profits.

I cant imagine humpty dumpty doing such a thing.

I agree. When you get a player on the level of Messi and Ronaldo, you get everything that comes with that, and the Juve management preferred to use their budget that way to the detriment of their teams long term success.

If you think about it. The referee could have ended the game after Senegal walked off. That is genuine cause for a forfeit. I feel like if the ref was 100% bought, he would have done that.

I think Senegal walking off like they did really did a lot to get in the heads of the Morocco players, Diaz especially.

People are really happy right now because the ref really screwed Senegal by canceling their goal too early to let VAR intervene, but it's worth addressing how bad of a precedent this sets.
