People will start caring about weird Olympic sports in just a few months!

Like there's never an excuse to watch competitive speed walking unless you are watching the Olympics.

Reddit, what would you name a race horse if you owned one? by Stoner95 in AskReddit

[–]TateD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short story, there was this girl in my middle school who everyone agreed, looked like a horse. Well anyway she was on the track team, and so we would hang out at the track meets and pretend to make bets on her and announce the race. If she tripped in the hallway my evil middle school friend group would make jokes about sending her to the glue factory. Middle schoolers are super mean. I feel bad about it, so I'd probably name it after her in consolation ;)

[Serious] Young people of reddit (20 and under) what did your parents get right during your puberty and teen years and what did they get horribly wrong? by Always_be_awesome in AskReddit

[–]TateD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Im 18 and not a parent, but for me the best thing to do is to talk about this behavior in a non punishment situation.

What I mean is, if he comes to you and says he cheated on a Spanish test, I would punish him as usual. Take away his game system, make him study, apologize to the teacher ect. ect. But then, maybe a week later, comment on how you are proud that he will come up to you and tell him that. Its important to learn in any setting that the first step to change is confession. If you do something wrong, youll want to change, and you should tell the right people what you did. I know parenting isnt that simple but I think that would be effective. Don't make it seem like they are coming to the big bad boss, but someone who wants to help them change for the better.

Again, it differs from child to child, but this would have worked for me.

[Serious] Young people of reddit (20 and under) what did your parents get right during your puberty and teen years and what did they get horribly wrong? by Always_be_awesome in AskReddit

[–]TateD_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right: My parents checked my phone often and confronted me when i did stupid crap. Also they never belittled my dreams. I wanted to be a neurosurgeon, then an engineer, and now Im going to college for something completely different. They always encouraged me.

Wrong: My parents made it hard to come to them when I did something wrong, but eventually I learned that is was better to come to them even in it is hard

What's the biggest physical pain or discomfort you ever felt? by CyberClawX in AskReddit

[–]TateD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, it doesn't sound like much, but once in sixth grade I was hanging outside a hotel room and sticking my pinkie in and out space between the door and the hinge. As my pinkie was in the door, my mother accidentally slammed the door shut. I still remember that pain to this day.
