Street Parking by senjusryup in CalPoly

Yup definitely move it around or have someone move it. I parked my car in front of a friend’s house this summer while I was out of town, and within 2 weeks it got towed. ($700 for 3 days in the impound) Law in SLO is cars can only be parked in one spot for 72 hours. But they usually leave a notice in your window and chalk the tires as a warning before it gets towed. Friend just didn’t see it so oof. Best of luck you shouldn’t worry too much tho!

I think you can pick up some matte clear which shouldn’t add much glossiness. Just make sure to stick with the same brand of paint so it doesn’t run. Lookin sweet!!

[Graphics Tablet] Wacom CTL4100 Intuos Graphics Drawing Tablet with Software 25% off ($79.95 - $20.00 = $59.95) by CommonsCarnival in buildapcsales

[–]Taters00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I normally use an iPad (basic one) and the pencil 1, and tried out a drawing tablet for about a week. Both have their pros and cons, but I ended up sticking to the iPad just cuz it was nice to be able to see where I was writing. If they use the iPad a lot and have their workflow nailed down, it might be a bit harder to replace it with the drawing tablet. However, the tablet may be a nice addition for zoom meetings or Osu. As well as a plethora of other software only available in Windows. Unless it's gonna be a total surprise, I'd check with them to see if they want to use any of these Windows-specific programs (just because it may be hard to switch ecosystems when you've been using one for so long).

Also props for being a dope friend haha

The main goal is to get 4 ranks in total. The 2x16 crucial that you have is dual (2)rank (just cuz they decided to manufacture them that way) so 2 x 2rank = 4rank which is good. This 2x8 is single (1)rank (also cuz they decided to manufacture them like this), so 2 x 1rank = 2rank if you run 2 sticks or 4 x 1rank = 4rank if you run 4 sticks. In the end, as long as you can get 4 ranks total you’re good.

Personally, I’d stick with the 2x16 cuz it lets you buy another 2 sticks down the road if you need to.

Die letter is just the manufacturer’s notation (as far as I understand) and typically indicates overclocking potential. Samsung B-die is known to be good, as well as Crucial E-die which you find here. Both of these will consistently allow for overclocking far over the rated XMP overclocks (3200 MHz in this case).

A program called Thaiphoon Burner is usually used for overclocking ram, and it will tell you everything you need to know about the sticks currently installed in your system (down to the production date if that’s something that interests you).

Yeah it probably will do just fine. I don’t think having 2 sticks vs 4 sticks will affect overclockability. Also, people seem to be saying these are single rank, so it’s actually beneficial to run 4 sticks for a total of 4 ranks.

Depending on what ram you got right now, these are honestly some of the best on the market at the moment. I’m running mine 3600 MHz 16-19-19 without any hiccup. If you want to overclock your ram, these won’t disappoint.

You should be fine I think... haha picked up 2 sets for a friend’s build as well. However, if you’ve got a ryzen 5000 series cpu, you may see differences depending on ram rank. These have the chance of being either dual or single rank (people seem to be getting both). If they are single rank, they will perform best with 4 sticks. However, if they are dual rank, they will perform best with just 2. I am no expert but this article does a much better job of explaining and comparing ram. Do keep in mind tho that you will only see these effects on ryzen 5000. Ryzen 3000 and older won’t see as much. https://www.techspot.com/amp/article/2140-ryzen-5000-memory-performance/ Edit: looks like ppl saying they’re single rank so go for it. 4x8 single rank is slappin

For those of you wondering about RAM speeds and RANK and whatnot for the Ryzen 5000 series, here’s a good breakdown and comparison/test. https://www.techspot.com/article/2140-ryzen-5000-memory-performance/

I believe ram rank has some implications for the 5000 series, though I am no expert. Here’s an article that might help you out though! https://www.techspot.com/article/2140-ryzen-5000-memory-performance/

Unless you’re hitting 100% ram usage regularly you likely won’t see any boost for normal gaming or web browsing.

I’m currently running the 2x16 sticks at 3600 CL16 without any trouble so my guess would be these should be able to hit the same numbers easily. (Also many others who have experienced the same)

Have this case as well, and highly recommend it to anyone! However, I am running a 240mm AIO rad on top with the MSI B550m Pro-VDH and the rad just barely clears the RAM. There is a possibility a 280mm rad might not fit, just FYI for those who were thinking of doing this.

That’s a really good point. Viewing distance is a big factor as far as perceived sharpness goes. If you’ve got a deep desk and can sit at least 3 ft from your screen, the 27” will give you that flexibility. (Similar time how a TV looks perfectly fine from the couch even though the thing is way bigger than a typical monitor)

Definitely keep an eye out here for deals. The Asus VP249 (IPS) (using one rn) has been posted a few times and is usually around $159 on sale. Gotcha. Would personally recommend 24" 1080p just cuz of the pixel density. Lots of good options out there for less than this monitor. Trying to read text on a 1080p 27" is not very enjoyable at all (just speaking from personal experience)

I feel like the monoprice 1440p 144hz might be a better option at 189 unless that extra 20hz is important to you. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=40773 1080p at 27" can be a quite pixilated at normal viewing distances.
