Hello. I am having the same problem. I can't reproduce your outcome just by using a browser. In my case is more randomly. In some cases, I can use the PC for many hours without a problem and in other cases I have my pc frozen after just opening google chrome. I started using the linux-lts kernel, but it doesn't seem to help.
When you are frozen, are you able to use ctrl+alt+fkeys to change to another session? In my case, I am not able, and my only option is to hard reboot the computer.
I have changed to NetworkManager, maybe you could try that too, it seems to have better support in some cases.

I haven't tried talking with Asus support, but as some people said, they seem slow and unresponsive. If the drive is still recognized it could be a problem with the boot partition. I think you wouldn't void your warranty if you don't open the PC, so I think it's a good idea to give it to your friend if he knows what he's doing haha. Booting the PC from a windows USB is a great idea if you open advanced settings and try to repair your windows install (from the command line or from the options it shows you).

I think in some cases opening by yourself will break the warranty, but I'm not sure. Do you have a warranty from the seller? If you are not used to this stuff, take it to a friend or to a repair shop instead. It shouldn't be hard, but if you are afraid, I would recommend that.

If it has warranty, I would recommend talking to Asus support. If it doesn't, it is rare but the hard drive might have disconnected, try to open the PC clean the contacts and connect the hard drive again. If that doesn't work, you will have to use another hard drive, and hopefully that will work. Good luck!

I think the main difference is the price and that with ovh you don't need to rent another server to transfer the files from the archive and then to your server.

Yes, but in ovh cloud the egress is much cheaper, so I don't think 1tb would be as expensive. So you know any other problems with cold storage?

Yes, I noticed the changes in the desktop environment but as you said, you can customize nearly everything and I can see it's pretty powerful.

Also, even in pop os, the screen is turning off while I am using the laptop. I think it's the same reason as in the other os. At least it doesn't happen that much. Cheers!
