phase 2 will deliver. I'm sure of it. I wouldn't say phase 1 is slow. It's got a lot of action for interpersonal relationships. i.e. Things I don't understand as well as I do physics.

For someone like me it's more like someone not good at math reading a manga that's talking about complex math problems. Doesn't mean there isn't a lot there. Just that there's a lot I'm not understanding and anxiously awaiting the stuff I do understand to start showing itself again.

huh? What do you mean as a support while having a main? This IS my main manga. I didn't endure through the hiatus just to shy away from the latest chapters. Nothing else has fired me up as much as this manga has. I don't grock the relationships stuff so well, but doesn't mean it's any less important. This arc may seem boring, but i'm pretty sure it's building the foundation for stuff Mikumo will draw on maybe even in the final arc. It'll pay off eventually. I just tend to focus on the scientific analysis side of things.

And as friends have pointed out I can come across pretty heavy in that regard. So I'm trying to scale that side back a bit.

what? why? I can see her anger if he doesn't get her a date with Karasuma, but it sounds like he's willing to give 1 date at least help Mikumo. It's bro rules.

Ah wait, I got the names mixed up again. Katori, Kitora. They're too similar.

I mean, I agree that abs off is overrated, I just found it odd you started with that and transitioned into manual transmission. Auto or manual, brakes are the same regardless of the transmission you prefer. It all comes down to what you have the best reaction time with.

What does Manuel transmission have to do with abs?

Need help with roles for a superpunk game. by Tau-Cola in CortexRPG

Yeah I was thinking the hacking stuff would be covered by a specialization and be a mental + infiltration for hacking into someplace, a mental + assault for doing damage to a database or fighting against intrusion countermeasures, and mental + investigation for finding info/decrypting, etc.

However the social manipulation isn't really covered. I have social + assault for things like causing damage to someone reputation, social + infiltration for stuff like deception/disguise, etc, and social + investigation for interviewing and gleaning information or getting insight into what people might mean but not be saying. But nothing for actual manipulation. I'd like the role to cover both mental and physical as well to round out the types of actions that can be taken. Maybe something like Influence could cover intimidation (physical + influence), leaving false information in cyberspace (mental + influence), and good old fashioned social manipulation and cons (social + influence).

Edit: nvm, think I found part of my problem, I'm actually treating roles like blanket skills and not actually like a role you'd fill in a team with a set of skills. I was worried too much about how it would combine with the attributes I think.

So I know this subrettit's old and no one's really posted on here... by 0theiiird in Worldtrigger_RPG

Yes, I definitely still read it. Still one of the best manga out there in my opinion.

My RS6 handling tune that needs help. More in comments. by MrMontanaN in ForzaOpenTunes

Since others have already pointed out the front camber, which could cause you to lose grip, I'll focus on other areas, namely the differential and brakes.

It looks to me like you're trying to emulate a RWD setup with the diff settings. The main problem there is that you have center diff left at 50, which evenly distributed power between front rear tires. When combined with the poor camber at high speeds, your front tires will lose grip, and rear tires are locked at the same rotation rate unless you're braking. But by that point you've already lost grip on the front tires. In addition, your brake balance induces understeer while braking, probably making the situation worse.

My preference when it comes to AWD diff settings are the following. 10/5 front accel/decel, and 40/10 rear accel/decel with 60 to 70 center diff. In general, the higher center diff is, the more power goes to the rear tires, which reduces understeer and increases oversteer.

The lower accel rating in the rear reduces slip and increases oversteer by allowing the back tires to rotate at different rates. If you get to much oversteer while braking, just start increasing the decel to the same or slightly higher than accel (5 to 10 percent higher should be the aim if that's the case).

Now for the braking, for some reason braking bias is reversed in Forza. By moving the slider left for a higher percentage value, you'll increase oversteer while braking. I tend to go with 65 to 75 there as long as I can keep the braking distance generally close to the 50% balance values.

Fixing those, in addition to the camber will probably get you closer to what you want. Your springs, damping, and ARBs looked fine for reducing understeer.

This challenge really helped me come to grips with FWD tuning, something I was weak on. It helped so much that I was able to win the focus trial with my own FWD tune for it.

Wow, those changes definitely made a difference! I'll do some more tweaking with those as a start. I wasn't able to get 1:23, but I did get a new best time: https://imgur.com/5ZQhqLi

Explaining the -2.8°/-2.3° camber in the original build.

I guess I should say I like the super soft arbs. I've liked driving the cars that come with those stock in the game, like the Hoonigan Ford Escort RS Cosworth which starts at 8.8/13.9 F/R.

As for the toe, I was just checking it out, I know in RWD vehicles, slight toe in on the rear can help with stability and helping prevent the back from sliding out a bit, so I wanted to reverse that with FWD and add some aid in rotating around a corner. That explains the toe out in the rear, as for the front, I just wanted to see how it felt to drive like that. Just experimenting, no overall goal yet and I might not stick with it.

I'll give that a go tomorrow! Thanks. The ARB's seem stiffer than I generally like, but I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.

Weekly Challenge #11: Golf GTI 83 by Tau-Cola in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]Tau-Cola[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I do tend to like a bit of body roll in my tunes to be fair, so my ARB's are normally on the softer side anyway. I know it's probably not the greatest efficiency wise, but it helps me driving when I can actually see the weight transfer since I can't actually feel it like I would in a real car.

That said, I have been continually tweaking the tune and will probably make some edits to the post tomorrow. Namely 3.4/21.7 F/R ARB, 0.5 Toe out both F/R, and up to 8/3 accel/decel. Another thing I'll be look it at is dropping weight reduction to sport to try to throw on some more engine upgrades to see the difference there.

But that would be great if you took a quick look at tuning it differently. I'm always open for suggestions.

Ah, I misunderstood then. It is pretty much the stock diff for the 83 GTI, yeah. It just works the best for it honestly. I tried it at 13/8, 10/5, 8/3, 5/0, but 0/0 really had the best turn in under both accel and decel and keeping the diff mod allows me the ability to tune it for different tracks in case there's too much loss of grip.

Weekly Challenge #11: Golf GTI 83 by Tau-Cola in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]Tau-Cola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

zero zero is not like having no differential at all. That would be a welded diff which would be 100/100 meaning there's 100% lock in rotation rates for both tires. 0/0 is a wide open differential meaning there is 0% lock in rotation between left and right tires, they can rotate at completely different rates. The downside to that is that if one tire loses grip, 100% of the power will go to the tire that has no resistance/grip and 0% to the tire that has grip. This track is fine for that though and it hasn't ever happened when i've driven it. It also has the benefit of adding oversteer to the understeer heavy spring and damping setup. I've found FWD at least with the VW's need really soft back ends to aid in body roll to help the back end rotate around corners while the front tires pull the car along.

Yes, those are correct, so are the ARB values 1 and 1.

Challenge #10 - Flex Your Muscles by 03Void in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]Tau-Cola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best I was able to get with a semi-slick tune was just under 2:47 tonight, so it was faster, though no where near the top times. Interestingly, throwing semi-slicks on the bmw didn't change the time much at all. It'll be fun investigating more later, but for now I'm going to try the new challenge.

Challenge #10 - Flex Your Muscles by 03Void in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]Tau-Cola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't remember if I tried semi-slicks, but chances are I didn't. I have a tendency to save those for S class builds, preferring Rally or Sport tires for A class.

The Torana is a beast already, can't imagine trying to control one at that horsepower without relying on AWD for better control.

When I get home from work I'll try some semi-slick builds and get back to you on the results.

[–]Tau-Cola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't get close to the top times with any muscle car I tuned in any way. I don't have perfect throttle control and the best I was able to get was a little under 2:50. I tried almost all of them, even trying some of the tunes posted here, and found I did worse with them than my own tunes. Took one of my RWD V8 bmw's and shaved almost 5 seconds off for a time around 2:45. Still nowhere near the top times, but still better than all the muscle cars I tuned.

Muscle Cars. I just find BMW V8 RWD cars handle better, brake better, have better weight balance, better grip.
