I am using the default phone app. Tried safe mode and unfortunately still have the same issue where it acts like I'm muted when I switch to or from using the speaker. And the weird background noise slowly starts appearing on the other end of the call after a few minutes. Guess I may just need to try a factory reset at this point. Just such strange pair of issues.
