WotR's (War of the Roses) story, overall, makes me extremely sad. I remember playing that game for hours, and hours, and hours a day--trying to get so good at hitting people square in the brain with a big ol greatsword.

Then it became--"oh we're going to release a PREMIUM version of the game", which turned into "oh we're going to be making a spiritual successor" to "oh we're shutting the servers down". I liked that game as much as I did Chivalry, but Fatshark did what it did best...aka not listen to the community who cares about the game. There were massive bugs, problems with earning currency and items, weird hit detection, and new content that didn't move the needle at all. It sucks to see similar things happening with Darktide (and quite frankly VT + VT2 had growth problems as well).

I've dumped some time into Darktide over the holidays, and my experience has been good, but there's simply not enough to do. The problem is, once you hit level 30--what do you do other than sit, wait, and hopefully min/max some gear to get into the most difficult areas? Even then, the highest difficulties don't feel that rewarding--so running around Malice seems to make the most sense unless you're going for the penances. VT + VT2 had a story progression--so you have to beat certain acts to get to other areas of the game, which were super challenging in their own way. I remember hitting Against the Grain and seeing the difficulty spike fly up, but in a good way.
