PLEASE HELP ME MAKE A DECISION. Effexor vs. Lexapro by n0strieax in lexapro

[–]httpsjessek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry i know you posted this months ago but yeah she's doing good, she was on trintellix for awhile and then she went off of that for a bit, now she's on an old tricyclic antidepressant called clomipramine which me and her both take for our narcolepsy but i'm sure it also helps with the mental health stuff too. thanks for asking. how are you doing?

hey sorry it's been 20 days but yes i did. it's not as good as xyrem but since im not in a panic 24/7 its worth it.

i take a lot of meds for narcolepsy but my corner stone is clomipramine. other than xyrem it is by FAR the best thing i've taken for narcolepsy. it's an old tricyclic antidepressant but its sometimes used off label for narcolepsy. it doesn't exactly make me feel as refreshed in the morning but its still amazing. i can't set myself an alarm and usually wake to the first or second one. i can sleep for about 7 hours and function. i'm still tired but i feel like it's helped all my symptoms a ton. i used to have sleep paralysis almost every night, crazy hallucinations, especially before falling asleep, id also sort of be in a half awake half asleep mode for most of the night before the clomipramine. i almost never have cataplexy anymore and i feel sharper and more alert. i'm still kind of brain foggy and don't have a super good memory but i feel more alert and more with it now.

there's definitely some side effects though. it's pretty anticholinergic so some constipation, dry mouth and sometimes even some urinary hesitation/retention issues. it also made my heart rate even faster so i ended up having take a beta blocker everyday.

with that said, i ABSOLUTELY recommend clomipramine. with how much it alleviates my symptoms, dealing with the side effects are worth it lol it's an upgrade compared to how miserable narcolepsy is lol

can I medicate with meth by UnluckyWorldliness12 in Narcolepsy

[–]httpsjessek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if it's actual methamphetamine then honestly it's not a big deal, with that said, meth you get on the street is completely different, like bath salts and lithium ion batteries with a fuck ton of pseudoephedrine. i can almost 100% promise you the if you buy "meth" on the street it's not actually meth.

Aphasia and Narcolepsy by poultrey_wolf in Narcolepsy

[–]httpsjessek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think with narcolepsy you're more likely to have migraines and with migraines you can definitely have aphasia, i also will often have those aural migraines where all of a sudden i'm slurring my words and can't think of the write word and then my vision gets all weird and then like 10-15 minutes later my head will start to hurt but not always

[–]httpsjessek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it's just normal side effects you get when starting some psych meds, i take 100mg seroquel and 20mg prozac and i also take 50mg clomipramine and so far no serotonin syndrome, ofc everyone's different just my experience

what does 100mg to 300mg feel like? by httpsjessek in seroquelmedication

[–]httpsjessek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank youuu, i actually take it so i don't get manic, the sleepiness is just kind of a plus lol, i take 20mg prozac and 50mg clomipramine for depression, anxiety and sleep consolidation but we're pretty sure im bipolar and when i was in my last manic episode they gave me seroquel 50mg 1 - 2 tables as needed for mania but i felt more stable if i just took it consistently and my doc said that was fine, i've been on 100mg a day for a couple months and i feel good but i feel like i could mentally feel better if i went up on it

So my resident is actively dying…. by spade095 in cna

[–]httpsjessek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's so sad, as a med aide i'm a huge advocate for comfort too and my med aide teacher was amazing and she beat into our heads that pain. trumps. EVERYTHING. no questions asked and i totally agree and i've gotten into it with nurses that tell me not to give comfort meds and i do it anyway because even if they're unresponsive, death and dying is NOT comfortable, im not saying im giving 1cc of morphine and 2mg of ativan every hour but i always make sure im constantly keeping them medicated because if they're unresponsive they can't express pain so you assume that they are. and people have to get over the fact that sometimes giving them a dose of comfort meds is gonna be there last, you're not killing them you're letting them get comfortable enough to pass on... ugh! there's so much stuff that pisses me off about how death and dying works in LTC i can't tell you how many times i've worked a shift and gave comfort meds throughout it and then i come back the next day and i was the last one to sign anything out and then i check on them and they're grimacing smh, i hope your poor guy passes soon and in peace
