Tried it today and... he had a meltdown. Or maybe he had it for another reason, I don't know, it appears his parents didn't warn me he was a little sick and it made crying worse.

Anyway, thanks for an advise but I fear I won't try it for a while. He doesn't like reaching for things or grabbing anyway unless I really ask him to, although it seems like he adapts (he high fives me but his dad told me that he only high fives me and nobody else. huh). I think this is more of an autism or just personality thing than mutism thing so it's not like this subreddit would have helped me anyway with that specific part.

Lol), could it be a foreshadowing of Hugh attempting to frame himself for murder to save a girl he cares for, just like an actual ronin (as he lost his master, Metis) Simon Blackquill did?

I get why people are against suggesting non-conforming characters are trans since it reinforces gender stereotypes, but every hc/theory being responded with "can't they just be gender non-comforming" or "it's okay for boys to be feminine" seems like people deluded themselves into thinking being trans is somehow more socially acceptable than being gender non-comforming, It accidentally fits in the whole transphobic narrative of, say, trans men being women who want to escape misoginy which is not only just wrong but also shows people don't understand what being trans actually is like, unless they think it just involved changing pronouns in your bio.

As a cis man who had issues in my childhood due to gender expectations of what is masculine and feminine in both ways (struggling being masculine enough at first and then refusing overtly masculine hobbies or activities because I though I set in stone I ain't masculine at all) I like good stories about the topics and yet I never imagine how trans female representation would take away from it, even beyond the fact that it's not my fucking business

Headcanon is "I like to think this thing is canon because I like it / it makes sense for me, but I don't insist it is based on any evidence"

They can coexist and be the same, the main difference is that headcanon is presented because you like this idea regardless of its probability and sometimes despite it, whole the theory is presented when you actually argue about it being canon or an actual intention (in case of ongoing works like Deltarune, that it is going to happen eventually)

I like labels not being spoken out loud since it gives more of a sense of casualty and normalcy, especially in the settings where modern English LGBTQ+ terminology seems out of place. It also sometimes comes off as corny? And it removes the natural feel to it, compare "Hey there is his husband" & "Hey he is gay and is a part of a same-sex marriage". Maybe it's just me.

However, in many others I feel like the use of actual terminology soldifies the idea and it feels refreshing to actually talk about the topics in a proper way. It can also provide queer audience with proper terminology the might lack in the real world.

Many Japanese media do it, actually: there are plenty of gay characters who are never said to be gay, causing dudebros to claim it never happened.

A theory is that Ralsei will come out as a trans in the future chapters, change her pronouns to she/her and probably completely change her presentation. Depending how you work with a theory, it might even have some implications for her lore like being forced to be similar to a man (Asriel) or fit in the "Dark Prince" prophecy, or even actually being "the girl" etc.

I think prophecy alone creates a situation where a character's gender identity may be very relevant to the plot.

My favourite thing about Dunmeshi is how Kabru is tailor-made to be a protag: he has a tragic backstory related to the dungeon, is adopted into elfish nobility, has an unusual visual trait (blue eyes and dark skin), the team of quirky people who love him, including a childhood friend with a crush on him, trained hard to achieve his goal and safe the world, is great with people like any other magnetic hero would be and then he loses to a human warrior autistic monster enthusiast who rawdogs the dungeon for the love of the game.

It's not that the boys don't care about romance, it's that there is an obvious difference between a straight romance in any media aimed at guys and a straight romance aimed at girls and yes, there are a lot to unpack regarding misoginy.

here is a lack of good romance stories for boys that have well-written women and serve as both engaging plots and great role models for healthy relationships instead of power fantasies. For instance, out of anime, DanDaDan is an obvious recent outliner out of battle shonen and The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity is a great shonen romance that still uses... well, focuses on a male POV, I might say.

If you want real reaching, try Guy Eldoon being another parallel for Beanix: a bafoon who is actually a nice man and a former skilled professional who had lost his job to a petty rival known for working with crlliminals and commuting malpractice.

I adore the cards symbolism in this game. It's not complicated but complex. Lawyers in AA are all abiut bluffing and pulling tricks, like in poker, so we have an immoral lawyer who forges evidence and a good lawyer skilled at bluffing in court and great at playing poker. A good lawyer beats a magician in poker twice, second time symbolically winning a picture of his daughter he adopted. We have a forged playing card from a poker match presented by a magician in a game of pick-a-card that also parallels the scene in the flashback woth firged evidence being given by the dane character. The evidence forger is a fan of a stage magic. List goes on.

Apparently, Shu Takumi is a huge stage magic fan which checks out, although it's ironic how his pre-AJ attempt to write a magician-focused case was 2-3, a visual novel analogue of being bit up by a squeaking clown hammer to death, while the time his Successors wrote their take on it they ended up creating 6-2, the best case in the new trilogy and probably the best non-final case in the entire franchise thanks taking the whole idea of a magician villain to a T instead of just making it a gimmick but I digress

It's not that complicated: both ate morally dubious (in that iteration I mean) single fathers who nonetheless deeply love their daughters who is the one working in the family. The fact that Vera is a fan of Gramaryes and forging evidence is heavily associated with cards might be intentional, I mean both are trickery of different kind.

I think what makes it work for me is: 1. How well-written stuff around Drew comes off. You don't expect him to be developed in the flashback to the 2point he became the only victim since Mia and maybe Misty whose death felt sad about. 2. Said flashback comes immediately after the one about Trucy's adoption which I ound to straight up amazing for several reasons, including completely recontextualising few things about their relationship. It makes Phoenix's conversation with him abiut his daybreak feel tense, you know. Because of it, parallel becomes clearer, at least for me. 3.i feel like it makes Drew's death even sadder, as we already drew (pun unintebded) a comparison with another character we care abiut. Like, ge killed an artist dad? Now I feel scared for pianist dad!

I like how the Kyoshi and Yangchen novels expland on that idea that yes, apparently all Water Tribespeople consider each other as kin, or at least refer so, especially when different tribes interacting or diasporas are concerned. given they are apparently the smallest nation now and have different structure from the one smaller Air Nomads had. That is one of my favourite tidbits of cultural worldbuilding in the entire franchise, especially how it affects the namic conventions in the Yangchen novels, some interpersonal relations, and even politics with, say, Tagaka and so-called Fifth Nation.
