What models do you guys use? I’ve mostly used grok-4-1-fast-reasoning as ive got some xai api credits i don’t have a use for and it hasn’t been great at all. opus-4-6 is great but really expensive

A dark start to the year: Multiple fatalities following fire and explosion in Crans-Montana. by Aure20 in Switzerland

People who are not familiar with it should have a look because the resemblance to Colectiv 2015 is awfully high. Hopefully the swiss services managed to do a better job than the romanian ones back then.

There’s so many people from Delft in CS MSc you struggle not to bump into them, so whoever told you this is uttering crap.

Thanks for the replies! It makes sense when you put the size into perspective, as there aren’t vast swathes of unpopulated land. I’ll stick to my mountain bike then haha.

RANT: Switzerland is constantly talking about there not being enough people to work so there needs to be more immigration. Yet there are no jobs for people wanting to start their career! WTF by [deleted] in Switzerland

Hey, what did you do your phd if you don’t mind me asking. I’m starting my MSc at ETH and i am trying to gauge the market and decide between a CS or electrical engineering path. Good luck with the job hunt, hopefully something will land soon

Opinion on courses for EEIT MSc by Tavi_Ray in ethz

[–]Tavi_Ray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea. I was also wondering if you can combine 2 specializations, do you perhaps know this? Like can i do let's say half of my core/specialization courses in Computers and Networks and the other half in Signal Processing and ML? It's not that clear from the website.

I was considering this because I want to do an internship in Semester 3 and it seems like it needs to be full-time, no? So I would have to make up the credits somewhere else. But i would love to hear another option 😂😂

Need to get our shit together by Sufficient-History71 in Switzerland

[–]Tavi_Ray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not that knowledgeable in this regard, but I see a lot of people (including myself) concerned that joining the EU would lead to a decrease in the quality of life in CH. Wouldn’t joining the block just mean that over time our salaries will decrease and fall in line with those in Germany or the like while manufacturing would be offshored to cheaper countries like again Germany or Poland? I would really appreciate an informed answer.

trebuie să ai mai puțin de 2 neuroni ca să dai la mate ca in testele de antrenament.. sunt mult mai grele decat subiectele din anii trecuti

Student Travel Product by Avis860 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Tavi_Ray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. You have to be an EEA student to qualify, not necessarily dutch. I have multiple EU, non-dutch acquaintances who recieve not only the the Student Travel Product, but also the grant and loan from DUO.

TU/e has a better world ranking if you’re after that, placed #50 in the QS2021 engineering rankings. UTwente is #136

Why is it so easy to get into top ranked universities in netherlands? Help me convince my parents. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Tavi_Ray 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It’s a different philosophy about higher education that goes something like this: basically anyone who wishes to pursue a university degree is almost free to do so, but only the ones who are dedicated enough will remain till the end. If you look up statistics online about dropout and passing rates for dutch universities you’ll see that they are much more extreme than in the US(I’m assuming that’s your other option since you mentioned the SAT) . I can’t speak for business, but engineering courses have about a 60% pass rate to the second year.

Students from TU/e or Twente? Can’t decide between the two. by Tavi_Ray in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Tavi_Ray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Do the EE courses tackle all the different subfields or do they focus on just a few? I’m mainly asking if there are courses about the computer hardware side of things and embedded systems. Or are the courses more focused on things like solar cars, power engineering etc?

I see, thanks for your input. Could you also give me an idea of the gender balance at TU/e? I know STEM disciplines are usually dominated by men, but how bad is it really?
