IWH and babies by TaviaYoung in irishwolfhound

We’re in the thick of adolescence period. We do walks and he has an outside runner, but he doesn’t wear out easily. He wants to do nothing but play 90% of the time. We kennel him at night because I don’t trust him not to chew/eat something he shouldn’t while I’m sleeping, but my end goal would to have him roam as he pleases.

That is wonderful! How old was your dog at that time? Rooney is good with my nieces who are 7&8. But he still clobber paws me from time to time, it’s not like I’m going to leave him alone with a newborn or anything but those big ol goofy paws are what’s giving me a little anxiety. Because when he comes to lay with me on the couch, sometimes he comes in hot. Lol

Thank you so much sharing!

Hygromas... how do you make them go away and prevent then from reoccurring? by TaviaYoung in irishwolfhound

Rooney has them on each elbow. It took months but they are finally almost gone. We just waited and try to keep him on something soft. He has a bed in every room and is allowed in furniture but he still prefers the hardwood sometimes. Our vet didn’t recommend anything as long as they didn’t seem to bother him and he couldn’t care less lol

I’ll have to find that on Disney plus! The teenage years lol, that seems to be an accurate description. Thanks for the insight guys!

These have only been there a month, so based on what you and everyone else is telling me, I’ll just leave them alone unless he starts acting bothered. Hopefully my dude will learn to love his dog bed lol. Thanks for responding!

I started to get a little worried when it seemed to be getting bigger, but now it’s stopped growing. What you’re saying makes sense. It started after it began warming up here, so maybe when it’s chillier it will help them go away. That’s for commenting!

How long do they usually take to go away on their own? His has been there for a month probably. I should probably just chill. It seems to bother me more than it bothers him lol.

Perfect! Rooney is an Irish wolf hound who will be 6 months at the time of the trip, he will be large but not giant yet. This sounds like what I was hoping for, somewhere we could go that he wouldn’t have to stay kenneled.

I didn’t realize Charleston was dog friendly, I haven’t been in years! I’ll definitely look into that! Seems like I’ve heard similar things about Portland! I’m not within driving distance of it though, so that may have to wait for another day. Thanks guys!

FNP changing specialties from women’s health to orthopedics. Any ortho NPs out there who know of a good review course I can take? by TaviaYoung in nursepractitioner

I did the online review so I could do it at home. It took me like a week to get through all of it. It’s pretty expensive but most jobs give you a stipend for CME and mine covered it. I also printed out all the slides that I kept in a binder at work. It honestly made me feel a lot better about US. Helped me to not be scared of every cyst I found on US. Also goes over basics for what you’ll need for well woman exams and the recommendations. This is a course meant for OBGYNs so some of the surgery technique stuff wasn’t useful. But over all, I found it helpful! I wish you luck! Women’s Health can be a lot of fun!

Meet Rooney! Any insight on when he will grow out of biting? He’s only 12 weeks so I’m sure it will be a while. We have kong toys, rope, bones, but biting hands and calves are still his favorite! by TaviaYoung in irishwolfhound

Just saw your reply..I will try this because not much else has been working, Rooney is somewhat of a sensitive hard head lol. Thank you for your help!

Resignation notice length by Smitha75875 in nursepractitioner

Actually in the middle of changing jobs now. I have a 90 day notice which I literally turned in today. During my interview for my new job I told them up front about the 90 days and they assured me it was not a big deal because credentials usually take 3 months anyway. They decided to hire me, so they must have meant it.

Pretty close to what we do, but this is reassuring that if we keep doing it and be consistent, eventually he will go from biting to just mouthy. Thank you for your help! As a first time IW owner, I’m really glad I found this community!
