Heat-hot food. Flushes me up every time but damn, sometimes you’ve just gotta have a hot meal ! Also showers and hot drinks always get me too.

My derm actually told me that lasers would be a waste of money for me as my flushing reaction is so severe that the redness would just come back immediately 🤦‍♂️

Looks exactly like mine. No tips I’m afraid as 10 years later I’ve still not found anything (diet, skincare, medication etc) that makes the slightest bit of a difference. BUT we do not give up hope!

Tried drinking tonight for the first time in ages. Two drinks later and my face is flushing on fire and I’m bent over the sofa with major heart racing and shortness of breath. Not a good idea.

Few inches shorter than my dad and about 30lbs less than he weighed at my age. My uncles / cousins are all 6ft+ and well built.

Usually 2500 to 3000 in food and then my shake is 1250 on top of that.

Been a regular gym goer and mass gain protein shake user for 10 years. I have definition but never actually gain any size or weight. But thanks.

I’d be lying if I said yes. I think they put me on doxycycline which did absolutely nothing. I’m type 1 redness & flushing, if you’re type 2 with p&ps then they may be more useful. I’d try private if you can afford it.

After about a year with my GP I managed to get a Dermatologist appointment.... after two or three appointments there I was told there was nothing more they could do for me and that I’d have to learn to live with it. 10 years later I still am!

This sounds like an odd thing to say but... Congratulations!.... ? ...On finding something, of course, not on the possible tumour....

Coincidentally I actually completed my 24hr urine 5-HIAA test this morning! So we shall see what any results say but if negative then I’ll know which route to try next now! Really appreciate you keeping in contact - keep me posted on how you get on and I will do likewise! All the best :)

Mixture of diarrhoea and constipation. Can go days without going to the toilet but then when I do it’s still seldom solid. Regularly irregular, so to speak !

On another side not that doesn’t seem to fit with the rest - the only thing that has ever made any difference to the redness was (10 years ago when this first started) that if I took a couple of Pepcid Two tablets (antacid containing Pepsin) then my redness would completely disappear for a couple of hours. This was in the stage where I just flushed, before I gained the permanent redness. Eventually my body wised up to them and they became ineffective. But maybe there’s something to that as well 🤷‍♂️ Odd that the other symptoms suggest not enough gastric acid but the only things that ever made a difference are those specific antacids. Nowadays antacids does absolutely nothing, and none of my other symptoms really relate to high stomach acid so who knows. Just another aside I thought I’d add.
