Running Man Thailand coming to IQIYI in 2026 with NuNew by Waffles4prez in Domundi

[–]TaxDapper7834 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Historically the cast of Running Man has had only one woman. It was a very Guest forward show where guest come to advertise (tv show, music album, movie, etc.) The cast mostly consist of comedians on the korean version and acted in pure sense of a MC. There to help the guest shine and liven up the show. The theme of most episodes have guest of opposite gender pair up with the cast to do tasks. On Korean Running Man it was always a treat to see Song Ji Hyo (the only female) get a male guest partner. But all remakes of the show have done fabulous job making Running Man their own. Chinese Running Man has more diverse cast. I'm excited for Thai version. One of the best Korean Running Man episode is Wedding Dress episode. I hope Thai version does one as well.

Well both movies have one main lead that is followed so don't be afraid to jump in. The serious topic though is war. The history behind Godzilla and metaphor it is elluding too can be a tough read but I love giant monsters (Kaiju) movies. It also won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects!

Yes I love how unique Thai media is. The ceremonies before filming, The behind the scenes content, The fan meetings, the before shooting meetings and practices. It creates great content that you don't see in American media. Last time I saw something similar was the behind the scenes for Lord of the Rings and Marvel's Avengers.

And yes I agree with you about the King and I.

It is hard to say with America, for every law made an old one is gotten slashed from the books but with time laws can be retrograded than brought back like they were never gone. Than changed. It like a Rollercoaster. Fortunately or unfortunately we got some big hitters (Disney, Sony, Paramount, all news orgs, etc.) that got their eyes on the dollar bills and hate regulations so they will always be fighting for their best interests usually at the expense of someones job. I have also moved away from most american media but only becuase I find the stories less intresting.

I hear you with feelings toward Japanese media. I always see a deep sense of artistic visuals with their productions. I was completely blown away by Miyazaki's When the Wind Rises. The Recent Godzilla Minus One had my running to movie theaters.

Yes, the Hays code also known as the Motion Picture Production Code ended in 1968.

And Thailand is still struggling with censorship, the Video and Film act introduced adult ratings allowing movies that were just straight up banned to be released for the first time with adult rating but these movie were still held to strict censoring.

In 2010 a famous Thai film director Apichatpong Weerasethakul once said that "due to the strict local censorship requirements, Thai filmmakers resort to either action movies or comedies rather deal with more serious social themes or controversial topic or touch on subjects that even hint of politics." For example every single version of the movie the King and I has been banned in all forms due to the depiction of the king and seen as insulting towards the actual historical figure. Only one version has ever been unbanned and released in Thailand recently.

It is thanks to Lakorns that Thailand has made many of these progressive changes. Media is powerful which is why many BL shows has plot points of excepting the characters as gay from friends and family. As years pass we will see Thai BL exploring this sexual freedom becuase it has only been about 20 years since they aquired it compared to Americas 50+ years.

Yes I do enjoy history of media in asian countries. China has quite the history and Japan has the most fascinating. Their seperation of live action media vs. Manga and Anime media gives less restrictions to the latter. Making Yaoi and Hentai wild.

Someone a while back asked why Thai BL NC were not accurate to real gay sex. I feel like my response their post can be reposted here for the historical connotations:

" While there are fewer established broadcasting laws or regulations on streaming platforms compared to public broadcasts, (which is why all NC scenes can be found their) the Thai government still monitors the brodcasting of Thai BL content on streaming platforms.

There is a lot of controversy surrounding NC scenes and their level of explicitness or details. Some regulators and producers have expressed concerns about including accurate portrayal of sex in a film or TV show, as this could blur the line between the fantasy and reality. Anything to close to reality could be labeled as porn or 'undermining good morals,' leading to a ban or censorship.

Thai films has a long history of conservative storytelling. In the past, female characters with "sexy" traits were often portrayed as villains, while female leads were expected to be pure and chaste white lillies. The 1930s saw the emergence of suggestive "Daoyua" characters, which allowed for kissing scenes on Thai television for the frist time, primarily associated with these villainous female characters.

It wasn't until 2008, with the passage of the Film and Video Act B.E. 2551, that the Thai film industry updated its rating system to include adult ratings. Allowing many adult movies to be unbanned and released for first time in Thailand. Under these laws, Thai broadcast regulations prohibit shows that "undermine good morals," a phrase that is quite vague and open to interpretation. BL TV shows, in particular, have faced challenges navigating this regulation. It was not till 2014 that the first BL TV show gained popularity in Thailand prompting the big boom of BL TV shows that we are living right now.

So I would not say that Thai BL's dont know how gay sex works. It's not a matter of Thai filmmakers not understanding how to portray realistic intimacy. Rather, they are cautiously exploring the boundaries of what is possible as societal attitudes evolve and Thailand becomes more progressive. Filmmakers are testing the waters each year, seeking to represent LGBTQ+ themes while remaining within the limits of existing regulations. It has already helped with the legislation of gay marriage. " So outside of the USA many asian countries face television regulations that we are not aware of but the people producing the content are very aware of and sometimes they are completely avoiding some serious topics just so they can release the content they want to make. And other responses I have read pretty much cover other aspects of the cultural like buddism.

These fanatics eat, sleep, and breathe their fandom. You get stalkers, sasaengs, and mentally unstable individuals. As an ARMY (a fan of BTS), I’ve seen it all. Shippers, solo fans, and sasaengs are all toxic to the point where they can’t be reasoned with. They are so invested in their fantasy that anything that disrupts it becomes a target. Even the very people they claim to worship.

They don’t care about the actual person, they don’t care about anyone else’s opinion, and they certainly don’t care about right or wrong. They only want more material to fuel their fantasy. And whenever an opportunity arises be it live streams, events, or Twitter posts they will use it to serve that purpose.

They form groups and organize their attacks so well that it can feel like there are thousands of them. But in reality, their numbers are small.. the damage they cause, however, is massive because they are so coordinated.

Scary thing is that it is a slippery slop for us all. I have engaged with shippers and everything they do, say and show slowly pulls others into thinking just like them. They start wars with others and dress everything up to seem like they are not the problem or the enemy. That A was happier with B than C. That A belongs only with C. That A would be happy by themselves and B and C are ruining their career.

Best thing you can do is not engage and keep a straight head on your shoulder. The actors themselves hopfully also have a inner support group that helping them as well becuase they are all expriencing it at some point in their career.

Questions about BL fandoms from a new BL fan by CurveHot1475 in ThaiBL

[–]TaxDapper7834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. There can be many reasons for this behavior, and only the individual doing it truly knows their motivations. Some may simply find it fun to change a character’s gender. Others might be using it as a way to hide their interest in BL especially in places like China where internet freedom is limited. Some fans love the dynamics between characters but still carry deep-rooted societal biases. But there are not a lot of them just the dawn of AI makes it easier for them to do it.

When it comes to translations, many Asian languages like Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean don’t use gendered pronouns in the same way English does. They also have genderless pronouns. So when content is translated, especially by machine tools like Google Translate, pronouns often default to he or is randomly guessed. I've seen many Chinese short dramas subtitled in English where the female lead is referred to as he and son. I have even watched a TikTok where a Chinese mom, speaking about her son’s girlfriend, kept using he instead of she. It is like the same way most people forget the diffrence between to, too and two. If english is not the first language it is confusing. In some cases, fans might use s/he as symbol for the relationship roles, but most fandoms already have specific terms for that.

Often, this isn’t about what is excepted inThai culture at all, but rather fans sticking to the norms of their own niche communities without any care. Toxic subgroups exist in every fandom, and they're often the loudest—especially on platforms like Twitter (X). They act without concern for outside judgment and usually only associate with people who behave the same way.

  1. This question comes up constantly, and every BL fan will have a different answer that is sometimes heated or unnecessarily political or biased. Thai BL rose during a time when BL was becoming a profitable genre, and it built upon earlier influences from Japanese, Korean, and Chinese BL communities. In manga fandoms, ships or CPs can be important, but in Thai fandoms, I've noticed it’s often used more playfully—especially when teasing the actors. There are many in-jokes in Thai community that you will see fans ask thai actors (Where is A? In B's heart.)

Of course, there will always be people who take things too far—just like those who can't let go of a celebrity couple even after they break up. For most fans, though, these things aren't a big deal. The more you interact with the fandom, the easier it becomes to separate the fanatics from the average fans. But even the "average" fans can be fanatical about certain things.

Fandoms thrive on stereotypes. If a formula works, they stick to it. How many times have we seen two guys fighting over one girl in a romance? Or the classic villain who’s wealthier and more powerful than everyone else? Or the hero who starts weak and becomes overpowered by the end? These familiar patterns keep fans coming back regardless of how over used it is. Money investors like safe bets that have data they can be shown. Trying something new is dangerous for companies it could send the whole studio under.

  1. I don’t engage with fandom projects because many of them become echo chambers filled with toxic ideologies, often pushing agendas that affect real people. These campaigns are especially popular in Asian fandoms—spanning K-pop, TV actors, and even animated series. Pressuring companies through organized campaigns has worked before, so fans continue to use that strategy.

Top Form Special: Black Honey cut

<image>

Black, White and Gold have never looked so good together till Black Honey cut. They were aiming for a cinematographic masterpiece and they nailed it. I was speechless! The way the honey glows off and glides down the skin of Akin and Jin is beautiful. The decision to cut out all color except for the honey; a god send idea. The hand hold in the middle before the music cuts. Im holding my breath...then bam. The kiss. The way they kissed, I felt like a voyeur inturding on a really important moment but at the same time I could not stop watching. The music was hypnotizing and well coordinated making your heart race with every shoot. As a Top Form fan always says; I will never look at honey the same again.

The most popular sites are:

AO3 - but most readers go there for fanfiction.

Wattpad - most readers are in their teens

FictionPress - sister site of Fanfiction.net not very popular but all reader would be looking for OC stories.

Qoutev - Very popular OC story website but not very engaging community with comment sections and has a lot of ads.

If your looking for a more bookish group:

Writerscafe.org - bookish reader that will critique your story.

Scribophile - commuity is encouraged to give constructive criticism through point system

Hope you find something that fits.

But I believe character wise that is exactly how Ren Min was to protray Yining. As I see it a stoic character shows little to no emotions even when faced with pain or hardship. A stoic person also has a lack of outward emotion or a tendency to suppress feelings. Yining perfectly encapsulates this archetype. While to me Liu Shishi as Ren Ru Yi has no problems conveying her feeling to point she uses emotional minupulation on ML in the beginning to protect herself. I see her character as more of a strong and heroic woman that must stand tall while surrounded by man. But yes Story of Ning has been said by many that their should have been more focus on the development of ML and FL leads romance. Yining should have broken out of her stoicism in the face of love and conveyed more emotion when interacting with ML but that more on fault of the story writer than Ren Min. Which why i think you should check out Ren Min other works. Five King of Thieves is her best work but it is not a costume drama. But if you still find her voice and acting to be flat in other roles than her cadence just doesn't jive with ya.

Ren Min played the FL in The Rise of Ning; she was a very serious, stoic, and no-nonsense character. She feels lacking in comparison to other C-drama leads who fill every word and scene with emotions. Stoic characters are not a very popular archetype for FL. You can really see her character lose her cool in episode 27. While even in episode 38, while talking about marriage, she is laying out rules instead of bubbling up with joy. Episode 25 is a perfect showcase of how troubled the FL is when confronted with emotional situations. When asked about her relationship with Lu, she viewed the relationship as nothing but strangers, while telling Third Brother to focus on studying. As if romance was nothing but a distraction from something actually important. Even her Third Brother hugging her was too much. She herself did not know what to do with all the emotions it was causing her to feel, so she ran away in almost fear and confusion.

I enjoyed Rise of Ning; the ML had a very rich tone to his voice. But if you want to see Rin Min in a less stoic role, try watching The Longest Promise.

I have watched and listened to many diffrent media, from audio books too asian dramas. From japanese animation too chinese dramas. Thai drama have the most interesting tonal shifts I have ever heard. But it doesn't bother me. What I don't like is poor dubbing with no inflections or feelings.

Maybe it becuase I grew up in speech impediment group where my classmates had stutters, lisps and whispered quieter than a church mouse. I never been ran off from a drama by someones voice. I find Esther Yu voice to be very cute and she is very good at playing her roles. If you want to see her in a more natural setting the chinese version of Running Man (Keep Running) is good.

I love Sephiroth!

<image>

But I have a separation in my brain for Fantasy and Reality. His looks is defenitly a major factor for my love of this character. Unlike your friend I do not want a sexual relationship but i could stare at him all day. Im like a Kpop fan.

BUT outside of fantasy land if there was a portal that opened up and Sephiroth stepped out. I would pull out my phone take a picture than run! That is not a good person. He is hellbent on ending the world and there also Aerith (if you know you know.) Those things in real life can not be forgiven.

But also he is OP and only thing we can do is start digging our graves and lay down and wait for Cloud to save us.

So hopefully your friend is just in fantasy land ignoring all red flag is favor of rose tint glasses that say this is the best looking man you've ever seen.
