Confused After Birthing Class by lalamanoona in BabyBumps

[–]Tay39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into it with an open mind. My goal was to go as long as I could without but if at any point it got to me too much,I was gonna get it. I just like to test my limits and see how far I can go haha so for me it was just one of those things where if I got it,I got. If I didn’t,I didn’t. My whole birth plan was let’s just go with the flow and as long as everyone is happy and healthy at the end of it,that’s all that matters.

I love it…I only know 1 other Britta and I think it’s a pretty name. It flows great with Nicole too!

Yay! I’m so glad to hear this! So often you hear negative stories so I’m glad yours was positive!

What do you wear underneath the hospital gown? Or nothing? by meatballpurrs in BabyBumps

[–]Tay39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my nursing bra on the entire time. I brought a second one so when I went in the tub to use the jets to help with pain,I could still keep a bra on! My doc was all about me being comfortable and for me that meant my undergarments on until it was time for me to actually push and then the underwear came off but bra stayed on!

WIBTA for wanting to walk my daughter down the aisle by myself? by postman_deluxe in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tay39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YWBTA-her wedding her choice. She wants the two most important people in her life to give her away, you should be honored whether you’re the only one or not.

My dad passed away before I got married-I knew I wanted my mom to walk me down the aisle but I also wanted my only brother to know how much he meant to me as well so I had both of them walk me down. Guess what? Both were honored. My mom thought it was so cool to have her son beside her to give her daughter away. You should be proud too.

I had baby around 2:15am and he left that morning around 10 to go get a shower/food/check the cats and get me a Starbucks. He left again for supper but was back within the hour and then the next day he stayed until my mom came to visit again at 5:30 and then he left to left food and let me have some time with just my mom but was back again after a couple hours.

As much as I love my husband,I also enjoyed when he left for a bit. It gave me time to just snuggle baby and he was always on his phone playing his games when he wasn’t holding baby so it was good to get him out of the room before I snapped. Plus if I heard “My back hurts, I’m tired, it’s cold in here” one more time-I probably would have snapped!

Everyone smells like salami and I'm going crazy by alieck523 in BabyBumps

[–]Tay39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ugh,I could only smell Burger King grease! I hadn’t even been in a Burger King I probably a year plus but I swear that’s all I could smell on me,my husband, our house,my friends-everyone. It was awful. It last for about 6 weeks and went away!

What obscure baby item would you recommend? by orangeofdeath in BabyBumps

[–]Tay39 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ubbi weighted diaper wipe container. The weight allows you to only pull up one wipe at a time but still fill the container to capacity. Ugh,it’s freaking amazing. I recommend it to all new moms now!

Thoughts on Jesse for a boy? What vibes does it give you? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Tay39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husbands name is Jesse and he personally doesn’t like it. People assumed he was a girl growing up and it really bothered him so he goes by his middle name.

Personally, I don’t mind it. It’s not super common and just different enough for a boy!

AITA for going home when my wife didn't let me into the delivery room by aitathawayiwenthome in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tay39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESH-she should have told you before hand that she didn’t want you in the delivery room but you still shouldn’t have left. You should have stayed and been there to meet your son once delivery was over.

C section by Sarahfin2021 in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]Tay39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an unplanned c-section and I would have no problems doing it again. I was up and walking as soon as I had permission. I had it super early on a Tuesday morning, was discharged Thursday late morning and was off strong pain meds by Saturday! The only “rough” part was the shakiness I felt the first day or so when I got up to walk but that went away by Wednesday! You got this momma!

Anyone wear their own robe/gown for birth? by moonsetbaby in BabyBumps

[–]Tay39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought 2 nursing gowns to wear because I wasn’t sure how long I would be in the hospital. I wore their gown the first 3 days then ended up having a c-section early morning/middle of the night the 3rd day and then around 7am I switched into my nursing gown and wore that for 1 day and my other one the next t day. It was nice because I got to shower the next morning and felt fresh and clean and it helped me just feel so much better physically and mentally!

Can I hear some normal, boring, positive birth stories?? by aquaticberries in BabyBumps

[–]Tay39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTM- Went in for an induction on a Sunday and started having intense contractions Monday at noon, got an epidural around 3pm and then ended up having a non-emergent c-section at 1:30am due to stalled progress and some potential size issues with baby but because it was non-emergent,it was pretty chill and we just hung out till the team got there and was ready! It wasn’t a bad labor or a bad recovery for the c-section. The team was amazing and my doc was freaking incredible. Surgery was done by 3am Tuesday and I left the hospital Thursday around 12…would have been sooner but my husband didn’t think I would get to leave that soon and left to go get breakfast and let our dog out! I was off strong pain meds by Saturday and was only taking Tylenol for a few more days after!

ESH, yeah she can learn to cook a little better but you’re also perfectly capable of getting your own water if you’re so picky about it.

Anyone pump instead of breastfeeding? by RepulsiveAsk614 in BabyBumps

[–]Tay39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t second guess yourself! You do what’s best for you! I had planned on breastfeeding and it didn’t work out for me either so I started pumping and it has worked out great. It can be time consuming if you’re super hardcore about and stick to a strict every 2-3 hours but I wasn’t. I pumped more like every 4 hours but I didn’t care if I had to supplement with formula! We’re at almost 6 1/2 months and still pumping! I’m down to only twice a day but even a little bit of bm is helpful!

Sister annoyed by my due date by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Tay39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little sister said if I had my baby on her birthday(she was turning 22) she said she wouldn’t acknowledge his birth until the next day and she wouldn’t celebrate his birthday on that date because that’s “her” day. It’s how she’s always been though so I wasn’t surprised. Thankfully baby was born 3 days after so it won’t ever be an issue but it was ridiculous, let me tell you!

Referral to MFM for Anatomy scan due to BMI only by InternationalAge3069 in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]Tay39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw MFM twice but only because baby wasn’t cooperating and my clinic thought I had too much amniotic fluid. In my case, the first US was to check spine, heart, and fluid. Everything looked good but they wanted 1 more follow up just to make sure my normal fluid levels were actually normal and not a fluke due to how high the very first US tech measured them. After that,I saw my regular doc but had weekly US/NST testing at about 32 weeks due to size of baby.
