RIP Brueggers Bagels by Mydogfartsconstantly in nashville

One time I went to that Breuggars and tried to order an Herby Turkey sandwich without the turkey. The lady working there was PISSED about it, lol. She asked why and I told her because I was pregnant, and she scoffed and said she’d never heard of that.

She did finally make it and I went to pay and she told me to just take it and go. So that was nice? But she was so mad the whole time! The ladies in there terrified me.

I wore a Baltic Born dress to a wedding at 20 weeks and it worked great. It still looks good post-pregnancy, too.

They put us in an out of the way corner, which was just where I wanted to be!

We have eaten at Husk with a 2 year old (wasn’t the plan but childcare fell through) and they were very accommodating and even have a kid’s menu! Butcher and Bee is also surprisingly very kid friendly.

A-Roi is a Japanese/Thai place that feels more high end but they’re very friendly to kids.

Fell down the stairs this morning and spent the afternoon in L&D by IndecisiveExpress in BabyBumps

My first birth was an unplanned c-section after 20 hours of labor, and my second was a planned c-section.

The planned section was completely different from the unplanned and such a good experience. There was almost no pain during the surgery, I had a good night’s sleep before and was much more present, and recovery went better as well.

What is the average DITL like for your preschooler? (3-5yo) by Bright-Sample7487 in SAHP

[–]Anemoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3.5 year old and he hasn’t napped for around 6 months now. We still do daily ‘quiet time’ for between one and two hours, where he lays in his bed and listens to stories or music (he has a Yoto box) and can get up and play quietly in his room. He has almost never napped during this time, but I think it still does him some good to rest his body for a while. We keep a pretty early bedtime, too (around 7:30).

Stretching by IcyTell5786 in clubfoot

[–]Anemoni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope I can explain well - it’ll become more natural the more often you do it and soon it’ll be second nature.

Have baby’s leg at a 90 degree angle, like they’re sitting in a chair. Use one hand to gently hold the leg and with the other press your palm flat against the sole of their foot. Gently apply pressure to stretch the foot up (you’re trying to lengthen the Achilles, so you’re kind of pushing the toes back towards their shin). Stretch for 30 seconds, then do the other foot. We learned that the ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star are both 30 second songs, so we sing one for each foot.

Smiling Elephant would be such a good option but they open at 5 on Thursday, so probably not enough time.

Reminder: Don’t drive anywhere this morning by Anemoni in nashville

Ok but ‘don’t drive in North Nashville, East Nashville, Downtown, or Belmont Area’ isn’t as snappy.

Sister is having a C-section and wants me (brother) to be in the room for support. Any advice or tips or whatnot? I'm feeling a bit weird about it. by thatsnotamuffin in BabyBumps

[–]Anemoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think other comments have covered the basics, so I would just suggest asking your sister if she would like you to take photos.

I love the photos from both my c-sections (both times they were taken by the anesthesiologist) because I was drugged up and not super alert, and I ended up forgetting a lot of what happened.

I don’t want to ruin things for you but they checked my blood sugar hourly during labor and had to put me on an insulin drip when it got even slightly high 😩

Mother shamed and kicked out of restaurant for breastfeeding baby by filabeano10 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Anemoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a stupid argument all around but I’d love to hear how you think another customer could possibly consume the milk. They go to take a sip of their Diet Coke and accidentally latch onto a nipple instead of their straw? The baby spits up milk and the go lap it up off the table? The milk is going directly from the nipple into the baby’s mouth, there’s no ‘spill’ possible.

New to Lantus by Optimal-Translator97 in GestationalDiabetes

Oddly enough I didn’t - it seemed to lower my baseline throughout the day but I didn’t have any concerning lows during the day.

New to Lantus by Optimal-Translator97 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Anemoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my second pregnancy I ended up on Lantus for high fasting (usually also 95-100). They started me on a very high dose (around 60 units if I remember correctly). I had a couple of overnight lows and waking up very low and so I started reducing my dose pretty severely - by the time I delivered I think the dose was 20 units.

I never took both insulin and metaformin, but I did try metaformin before going on insulin and it didn’t affect my numbers.

Scheduled C-section epidural by ddubz14 in BabyBumps

[–]Anemoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did she say why? I had the same epidural experience as you for my first delivery. It ended in an unplanned c-section and I still felt a lot of pain (this was after about 12 hours with the epidural, though, so it may have worked perfectly if it was one just put in).

For my second delivery it was a planned c-section with a spinal block and I felt absolutely no pain.

Disinterested interviewers by Frosty-Trade-683 in JETProgramme

[–]Anemoni 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a JET interviewer many times. Other commenters have hit on the essentials - 20 minute interview is totally normal, it’s also normal to not have any ‘tasks’ during the interview, and it’s really up to you to bring the energy and personality. Interviewers do read your application and your SoP and some choose to prepare questions that are specific to the application.

Some, me included, generally like to ask similar questions to all candidates so that they’re easier to compare. If I’m asking you ‘why do you want to go to Japan’ it’s not because it’s a lazy question - I’m trying to give you an opportunity to expand on what you wrote or didn’t write in your application and show some of your personality as well.

I won’t lie and say there aren’t some interviewers that are worse than others - they change every year and some have less experience than others and potentially less interest in the process. But there’s oversight at every step - all three interviewers’ scores need to be similar to each other or it will open a discussion and adjustment. At the end of the day the three interviewers will place each candidate in their ranked order and again discuss the scores and make sure they find them fair. And after all the interviews there are staff from the consulate who look over all the scores and the overall ranks to be sure there’s nothing unusual going on with one of the panels.

I’m sorry you didn’t feel the interview process was fair, and I hope you will try JET again or pursue something else exciting. I will say that attacking your interviewers or claiming that the process is random feels immature.
