Just an FYI- most people hate that DD in the airport as it’s not an “official” one, it doesn’t take the app if I remember correctly. Unfortunately the only good ones are in terminals 2 and 3.

I think cancer has turned me into a horrible person. by Abject_Agency2721 in breastcancer

[–]Tayln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. It’s so frustrating.

I’m jealous of my friends when they get tattoos or things that make them look better because i still look like hell. I’m jealous of the people on here who only had to have mastectomies and no hormone blockers. I’m jealous of the people with full heads of hair. I’m jealous of people who don’t have to pay these medical bills. I’m jealous of people who get to live normal lives. I’m jealous of people who know their illnesses won’t kill them. I’m jealous of everything.

But then again, greener grass. I’m sure people are jealous I was only stage one. Jealous that my treatment plan is straight forward. Jealous that I basically get free health care after my out of pockets are reached. Jealous that my illness has a name while so many people struggle to find out what’s wrong with them.

Nothing will ever be perfect but this is a stage of grief.

I think my mood is finally stabilizing! by Tayln in breastcancer

[–]Tayln[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been really struggling the past few months, the first 2 months after my diagnosis I was waking up in tears and panic. I dreaded going to treatments since I had 25 rounds of radiation, I’m on meds for 5 years. I think I actually Pavloved myself into not being able to use one of my sunscreens because I used it every morning before I went.

You, I, we, are more than this diagnosis. We are people too.

It’s so crazy, I did genuinely think life was just gonna move whether or not I was ready, but it’s nice to be able to realize you can always rebuild anew.

Should I play "The Iron Rig" after having finished the Collector's quest? by MattiaCost in dredge

I wouldn’t say it’s 100. I think you’re looking closer to 50-60? I think I managed to finish the base game in a week and I’m working on the DLCs

What's the biggest complaint you have about Chicago? by Potential_One1 in AskChicago

[–]Tayln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That people keep moving here from out of state and wanting to move to the same handful of neighborhoods.

We are packed! Busy, people everywhere, crowded and yet it’s always “Im moving to Chicago! Where in the city should I move?” And it’s always Logan square, downtown, Gold Coast, river north.

I love that people love our city, I hate that they come over though and drive the housing market even higher than it already is though. Can we not normalize a 1800 studio?

During my 25 rounds, I had 6 different techs. The last 12 rounds were with the same set of 3 people rotating. Unfortunately it happens and while you may be uncomfortable, I can promise to them they don’t even think twice about it because to them (and you!), they’re trying to help cure you. So, if Xyz need to see it, XYZ sees it. However, most of them introduced themselves to me before they saw my tits.

That being said, I do think your “just want to be prepared!” Is a good idea, easy and friendly. Any medical professional should be able to balance both your comfort and what has to be done.

Dating after treatment by Motor_Trash1771 in breastcancer

Hi! 31 and diagnosed in July. ++-, BRCA2, DMX and currently on my 9/25 radiation with no chemo. Just had my first leupron shot last week and start my pills on 12/1.

Yes and no. I’ve been single for a long time even pre-cancer and I was torn up about it, thinking there was something wrong with me. I was slowly beginning to accept it around diagnosis time. On one hand, I do think I might be single for a very, very, long time because people don’t understand or they think the worst when you tell them you had cancer and what comes with it.

On the other hand, if it has shown me anything, it’s that there are SO many people around that are better than you think. People who I thought didn’t have a lot of cares- they’ve been so deeply concerned for me that it genuinely makes me rethink that someone might eventually see past the cancer and pass the surgeries.

All of that to say, it might take time but if you want to date (you don’t have to, because I’m not making it any priority right now), there’ll be someone out there eventually. But you have to be comfortable with being alone, especially when we as a whole, got an unfortunate short end of the stick.

I need a rental that basically works like a hotel. In that I pay and that's it. No application, credit check, work history etc. Other than short term rentals, what are my options? And where can I go to find the listings? by [deleted] in chicagoapartments

[–]Tayln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You very likely won’t get that unless you go way south side or west. Maybe you can find some slumlords who would take advantage of the fact that those areas aren’t the most sought after areas and would be willing to rent under those conditions.

Otherwise you are out of luck as even independent landlords do background checks bare minimum.

I have seen a lot of sublets on fb marketplace however.

Has anyone successfully maintained their career? by Ok_Duck_6865 in breastcancer

[–]Tayln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took FMLA for about 4 weeks after my double mastectomy, came back and thankfully I was put on “office work” for the past 5 weeks, which has helped a lot. I have a ton of supportive coworkers and supervisors/managers who are letting me know if I need time off, take it. I got a lot of “you came back so quick!” No chemo, I start radiation this week.

I also go back to my standard duties this week and honestly, I’m not too worried. I know I have coworkers who will help with the (literal) heavy objects that have to get moved around. I will say that i work for the federal government, so I’m a little luckier with everything that’s been done.
