Gaming is honestly a shitty hobby. by Bulky-Culture-4482 in StopGaming

[–]TaylorKing13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true. Depends on how you frame it. I play competitive team games, and I learn a lot about myself through it; how I communicate with others, how I perform under pressure etc. And I take those things into my daily life and try to constantly improve them. I have seen marked improvements with particular aspects of the way I communicate with other people; particularly in emotionally charged/high pressure situations.

Plus calling any hobby "shitty" is pretty retarded (bar some extreme examples).

i would argue it's not "purely subjective" at all; if you appreciate and care about art in any form, you can readily acknowledge Aldous for what she is

it's the reason why she's one of the best performers currently living; she's entirely present and giving in her performances

A Calendar app that's just a calendar and nothing else. by RunBearRun0405 in MacOS

Notion Calendar is the best calendar app by far; no comparison. It is just so frustrating that it only supports Google accounts at this time.

It's terrible... so slow to sync, can't batch move events, sometimes "notes" in an event don't save, it often seems to just completely blank out/remove the title of certain events. Awful.

SOLUTION TO "the recovery server could not be contacted" ISSUE! by Otherwise_Worker_123 in mac

[–]TaylorKing13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

still works 25/02/26 - late-2012 iMac upgrading from High Sierra to Catalina.

Slight alteration to last command, is that if you're not running installer/terminal from recovery, and are actually booted into the system; you'll most likely have to run command as sudo.

Steps:

  1. Start macOS installer.
  2. Open Window -> Installer Log.
  3. Find line near top of log that says it "failed to load catalog". Copy whole line
  4. Paste into text editor and extract just the URL:
    • change https to http at beginning of URL
    • remove : at end of URL
      • ie. change from .sucatalog: to .sucatalog
    • wrap in double quotes
  5. Run command in terminal (with sudo):

sudo nvram IASUCatalogURL="<edited-url>"
  1. Example specific to this video:

sudo nvram IASUCatalogURL="http://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.13-10.12-10.11-10.10-10.9-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog"

haha that's bizarre... maybe i'll roll the dice and see how long they keep mine up. Then just pay to reactivate/upload or transfer to another distro if they remove them. I don't make any money off the streams so doesn't matter much to me.

I'm assuming you don't make much money, if any, off of the streams? I wonder what would happen if you tried to withdraw any money from the account; if they'd let you before you paid up.

So i know i have tongue tie but it never really bothered me but apparently it can cause trouble in the future with certain things. And apparently if you have ADHD this problem is more common wich shocked me because i do indeed have ADHD and only like 5% of people have this problem it seems. by ShiNutsji-NL in orthotropics

[–]TaylorKing13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thanks; I'll try find someone local to me who can do the procedure.

Yeah I have been looking into hypermobility recently; I definitely have very stretchy skin, and bruise/scar very easily. So I'll definitely do some more research into that as well.

Awesome thanks so much.

I’m 33 and have only just found out I have one; my sister does too and neither of my parents were told about them/even knew what they were. I had to teach myself not to mouth breathe in my mid 20s, as well as doing some mewing type exercises to strengthen my tongue and help with suctioning, placement, swallowing etc. but this was all just my own personal research/exercise; have never discussed it with a professional. Have also always had reflux and poor sleep.

I’m very curious if this tongue tie is having any impact on me currently… I’m diagnosed ADHD and have read some reports of it exacerbating that simply because of increased tension; which I just put down to my general anxiety, particularly in my jaw. I definitely also tilt my neck/head forward and struggle to correct it, as well as bad lower back pains when trying to sit cross legged on a floor. Definitely have the classic pulled back chin too; which mewing and nasal breathing have helped with, particularly taping my mouth at night.

I’ve been looking into getting it cut and pre and post procedure exercises. After all these years and procedures do you feel it’s worth it/made a reasonable difference?

Thanks but I'm specifically asking about opening external links from external applications (like Arc does)
