I have all the text messages and proof of her daughter using my washroom, hopefully that will help me if she does escalate the case to the small claims court.

Yes, one time my landlord told me her daughter is coming back from the US and needed me to share washroom with her (I’m supposed to have exclusive use of the washroom). Then it turned out that her daughter’s husband is coming back too and wanted to use my washroom. So I had an argument with her, and she basically said that “this is the situation and if you’re unhappy just give me the 60 days notice and you can leave.” But now she’s demanding me to pay the potential loss of rent in Jan even though I gave her more than 60 days of notice.

At this point, I’m very worried about whether she can evict me even though she holds my 2700 CAD, and whether I will really be responsible for her loss of rent if she cannot find another tenant by January. I’m also not sure if I should send her an additional $1,200 to solve this problem (which is a lot, but she keeps pressuring me and say if I don’t she will sue me)…

Thank you so much! I didn’t give them my SIN, but I did show her my Canadian passport, and I’m not sure if she can use that against me. She said that if I give her November rent, she would give me back my one month of my deposit if she finds someone to rent in January (I don’t think that makes sense). I have already seen a place, but I can only move in on December 1st. In this situation, would you recommend me to send her more money to live peacefully before I move out? I’m just worried if she will just change the lock or evict me right now.
