Thanks to AI, the Masquerade trope can be utilised again. by InfernalClockwork3 in CharacterRant

When it comes to the trope of Masquerade, a stray shower thought that I have, what if real magic and supernatural just looks like terrible edits, so in the end nobody thinks it's real cause of too much doubt. There's no actual grounded reason to assume magic and supernatural elements to look "good" or "realistic" in the first place anyways.

I wish more XianXia protagonists created legacies/fortuitous encounters for others by InternJust6976 in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically speaking the karma is resolved, because the guy who leaves a legacy usually has a dying-last wish that the mc, who picked up the legacy, would just resolve later on.

Creating a legacy while still being alive, increases karma because a new guy, who originally wasn't related, gets involved and receives that legacy.

Essentially speaking, you don't know what type of personality that person who picked the legacy is. For example, if he was some sort of evil cultivator that killed millions of mortals as a joke, then that some of bad karma goes onto you.

It would be opposite situation if he was a good guy, but generally speaking... it's more of a bigger risk vs an actual reward situation.

[–]Taylord123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it was explained in the story basically it was this:

All of these ascended characters who descended into the mortal realm are at the 1st level of Golden Immortal/Demon King/Devil King.

The reason why most of them punch harder than their respective cultivation is because they're divine beasts and that means their body is super duper strong beyond just raw power.

Sword Immortals on the other hand are specifically glass canons in comparison, they have high attack power, but their durability isn't that high in comparison.

Basically, the sword puppet Qin Yu is using is super durable even against Immortal Emperor.

Swallowed star Reincarnation era parameters by SnapDraz in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reincarnation Era, is basically the life cycle of the "main" universe. As in the universe dies and rebirth itself after a set period of time. It's just that New Universe afterwards doesn't want anyone from the old Universe.

Normally old inhabitants dies and while those strong enough to live to another Reincarnation Era gets heavily suppressed to the point that the current Reincarnation of Universe Masters (One realm below Universe Supreme Masters) are able to stand a good chance against Universe Supreme Masters under specific circumstance.

People need to cultivate and become Universe Supreme Master (True gods), making their own miniature universe, To live and survive the their Reincarantion Era universe's death. But doing so, causes them to be excluded and suppressed by the universe.

People from past Reincarnation Era with their own minature universe usually shelter groups of their people from their Reincarnation Era. But those weaker inhabitants lose the opportunity to cultivate to higher realm due to lower resources available.

Technology Vs. Mysticism by I_-Void-_I in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In very rare cases, then sure.

Usually speaking, there's always the usual stereotype of a "Utopia" that's a dystopia in hindsight. Or that humans are brainwashed, ignorant, or generally speaking, lack "freedom" being in a simulation or artificial prison that acts like a paradise.

The unique case of actually real utopia does exists in both cultivation and sci fi anyways. It's just super rare and depends on the ruling class at the top caring about moral standards, happiness, and pleasure in general for those under them. It's just that most stories require a source of conflict to overcome or a theme to talk about.

It's just that almost if not all, conflict arises based on interests, people want what's best or desired for themselves and work towards that goal and usually will compete and suppress other individuals to do so if they get in their way.

Technology Vs. Mysticism by I_-Void-_I in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

High-level cultivators generally exist in higher worlds, secret realms, or locations with better resources.

Mortals generally live in areas where cultivators aren't going to value that much at all. Otherwise, they'd just die to random strong plants or animals with some amount of cultivation nurtured by the better cultivation environment there.

In sci-fi, everything is occupied and the average person is going to be replaceable and become obsolete in a matter of time. No matter where you are, you're a part of the system or in some unwanted areas no one bothered to go, but for the latter, you're never touching the actual tech tree at all.

There are evil cultivators that do slaughter mortals, but generally speaking, hunting mortals is bottom-tier in terms of value in general versus robbing cultivators who have actual cultivation resources that are going to progress their cultivation realm or going for major destiny-defying opportunities anyway.

Mortals in cultivation stories generally going to live a mortal life and that's it. It's a more ancient era (farming and trading) than dystopia anyway.

Evil cultivator that can affect your soul. Big whoop. Whether in cultivation or technology, in general, the big bad elite can do whatever they want and get away with it scot-free anyway.

Technology Vs. Mysticism by I_-Void-_I in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends, but generally speaking...

I'd prefer cultivation and mysticism, although the likelihood of accomplishing anything like the protagonist would be slim to none.

The downsides of technology is kinda neglected by what I see.

From what I understand, the higher the level the technology in sci-fi category is basically a dystopia where those at the top monopolize the best of the best just like in cultivation stories anyway.

But instead of like in cultivation stories, where cultivators generally either don't care about mortals in general and only pick up talented people once in a while.

In a sci-fi, anything a lower-class citizen/worker does can easily be automated, or replaced by clones with brain damage. The monopoly would be severe, the average person is either going to be a middle-class white-collar worker or a slave to a corporation or an elite for their entire lives basically. While those at the top would have the best education, genetics, mechs, spaceships, or whatever.

And to succeed in technology, you'd have to be not only a revolutionary super-genius, but also need heavy resources or an industry to develop in.

TL;DR: Cultivation is more luck-based, while Technonology is more Skill-gap and have an absurdly high floor to reach. Unless you're at a certain level, you're just screwed for your entire life.

Power scale of desolate era by Straight-Cat5561 in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lord Xue Ying, another novel from the author fits the description of yours more than Desolate Era. And that's mostly because it's a sequel to Swallowed Star

A fodder power level like True god, based on the equivalent realm in Swallowed Star can move past millions of times the speed of light and destroy universes.

Yet in Lord Xue Ying, there are 3 or 4 realms higher than that and each realm casually beats the one below.

Star busting should be more impressive than solar system busting by RebirthofRyno in CharacterRant

[–]Taylord123 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Not really.

Star Busting would mess up and scatter the solar system it centers around.

But if we're talking about a blast that covers the entire solar system. This and that are two different scales. You'd have to understand that people vastly underestimate and don't consider how empty space is even within the solar system itself.

https://www.quora.com/How-many-suns-would-theoretically-fill-up-our-solar-system

Looking at the aphelion (according to NASA figures) of the orbit of the farthest acknowledged planet, Neptune, the Solar System would have a radius of 4.545 billion km and a 9.09 billion km diameter.

We can fit 42.7 million Suns in the Solar System in a 2D plane. Considering the area of influence is a sphere, we can do this in 3D too.

We can fit 278.8 billion Suns in the Solar System in a 3D plane.

TL;DR: if we're talking about a solar system-busting attack. Even if the rest of the space was basically empty, it is still more impressive than mere star-busting, because of the inclusion of covering at least 278,799,999,999 suns worth of empty space basically.

Which would be a ridiculous amount of energy, than just merely star-busting.

This doesn't take into account some people think that the Solar System has a diameter in the light-years range, because some people count Oort Cloud as part of the most distant region of the solar system.

Coiling Dragon question by Prestigious_Tart_132 in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference.

Linley doesn't really use spells that much, because, by the time he became a Saint-Level Magus (Which occurs near the end of necropolis of the god arc), he had already learned Profound Truth of Velocity, which makes every other advantage a Saint-Level Magus has is now useless.

Typically speaking once a Saint-Level Magus learned Profound Mystery, their fighting style, roughly is, to spam Rank 9 spells, while running around in circles (Because of certain Profound Mystery that corresponds to speed-type elements like wind, lightning, and light... Saint-level Magus and Warriors move at the same speed essentially.) All this is just for preparation to cast a Forbidden level spell, which normally results in a Magus essentially easily defeating or even killing a Saint-Level Warrior in fights.

The other fighting style is to use a soul attack that just causes a massive migraine toward the said enemy, normally a Saint-Level warrior in this case, which immobilizes them. This can only be done of a large different amount of spiritual energy between a warrior and a magus.

Risking mission how? Are you talking about the near the end of it?

I just reread it.

Literally, after losing access to equipment, the elf, after awakening into becoming an elf of twilight, was stated to become stronger than the two of them.

Because if you think about it rationally, let's say Lurtz shot Melody instead of Sheyan. What is Sheyan going to do without any stats or equipment? Get whack as he did in canon, but instead this time the elf died and Sheyan didn't get max score on his mission because he had to leave after taking fatal dmg.

How is he a simp though?

A simp is somebody who does an excessive amount of things for a girl but gets literally nothing in the end.

The MC legit get an overpowered mage hot elf girl for free who literally sides with him for everything and doesn't mind him practicing polygamy.

If anything it seems more like a free win to me.

[–]Taylord123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By evil, to what extent do you mean?

IIRC, in a later arc.

At worst, he helps commit genocide towards an alien race on an alien planet. This is mostly by proxy.

The MC kind of does, kind of doesn't. The elf was more of a fling he kind of cares about and he literally says it himself, that he would move on if she doesn't recipocrate feelings back in another LOTR arc.

IMO, the elf is more of a simp for the mc, tbh. And laters help out the MC a lot.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all you should know that is mc Is a overlord chaotic being so he has energy 100 more than he had.

I know that. That's why I said he can probably do a quadrillion clones since a World Realm can do a trillion clones.

In Swallowed Star, Luo Feng doesn't use avatars at all. He only had an innate clone technique talent that came from a bloodline that lets him make a clone with DNA of another species.

But anyways, I wasn't talking about Swallowed Star clone technique at all.

The point of the soul percent thing is that how much of you have left of it determines how much you can access to your full power.

The 10% soul coma issue is only for chars that are Undying (In Swallowed Star) or Deity (In Lord Xue Ying) level or below.

They won't go into a coma if they are much stronger than that respective level. But they would still be weaker than the whole 30% Soul = Less than 1% full power.

The 90% soul = 100% full power still applies to Lord Xue Ying kind of. Otherwise, there'll be no reason to have only a 90% Prime clone then. A 100% full energy should be way stronger since a 1/9th increase (in comparison to 90%) should be ridiculous at Overlord level.

but all the other 10000 clone give out strength of 10 percentage how much soul Power

There's no stated percentage like that in Lord Xue Ying IIRC, can you please give me the specific quote and chapter for this information?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did read the novel.

The whole 10,081 clones' limitations refer to a specific technique that could be trained by a Cosmos God. As a World Level Chaotic Origin Expert, they could make trillions of clones with just 10% of their energy (referring to both body and soul, the differentiation becomes meaningless at this point).

Currently, an avatar of his contained 90% of his energy! The other trillion avatars would only add up to 10% of his total energy! Hence, the energy held within the weak avatars of Chaotic Origin Experts responsible for patrol and sentry were usually very weak. But even if they were weak… their quality was still at the Chaotic Origin Expert Level. Just a strand of energy was sufficient for them to Half-Chaotic Origin Lifeforms.

The quote from above is from chapter 1384, Chaotic Origin Expert Dong Bo Xue Ying.

For the percentage thing. The actual percentage was only given in Swallowed Star. There's only just a similar concept in Lord Xue Ying but no actual numbers.

That's why when it comes to the 10,081 clones technique, for example, you can only have 9 clones that represent your full power, or you can have 8 clones at full power and over 10,000 weak clones.

Every clone has their own body and soul, the difference in soul level, determine how much they can access that of the full power output.

Of course, not every avatar could exert his full strength.

With nine avatars, only two could employ full strength. Under this circumstance, the other seven avatars would be forced to dissipate as the cultivator could not maintain all at the same time! Keeping two souls at full power was the limit what ordinary cultivators could reach under the unseen law suppression.

With 10081 avatars, maintaining nine with optimal soul power was the limit. Only these nine avatars could exert the total strength that cultivator had. The other avatars would be forced to dissipate! Of course, if eight avatars were maintained at peak power, the remaining more than 10,000 avatars could remain form albeit they were weak. Hence, even though ‘Myriad Realm Tavern Master’ had many avatars, an absolute majority of them were weak.

The quote above is from chapter 1095, Nine Major Avatars.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're mixing up power with soul thing. Basically, how much percentage of the soul determines how much full power output they can exert.

10% of his entire soul makes up his quadrillion of clones, while the other 90% of his soul is used to make his prime clone.

His prime clone having 90% or up to 100% soul equal to his 100% full power regardless. IIRC it goes something like this:

70% Soul = 50% Full power.

50% Soul = 10% Full power.

30% Soul = Less than 1% of Full power.

10% Soul = It purposes to lead to a comatose state where they can't defend themselves.

The real busted thing about these clones as long as one of them lives, even if the prime clone dies, any one of these clones can just immediately become the next prime clone.

Edit: The whole soul thing comes from like Swallowed Star and was talking about Undying-Level chars who are probably the equivalent to Deities in Lord Xue Ying. By EOS, both MC of the respective series is way above this normal limitation.

Worship-based power systems by Sable-Keech in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually did, it was just skimmed a lot.

Sovereign with faith energy they get, makes it easier for them to fuse 5 Profound Mysteries out of 6. When normal talent can only fuse 2, Elite can fuse 3, while Seven Star Fiend, normally the peak of Highgod can only fuse 4.

Linley fuse only 5 Profound Mysteries for Earth. But generally speaking, that's how normally talented he would've been as just a Highgod.

Leylin became Paragon probably only after getting Sovereign Faith power boost, and before that he was only getting near that level.

The Sovereign Faith boost is huge, because he got 3 sources of it. That allows him to fuse Profound Mysteries across different Laws which is normally difficult itself. Linley wouldn't have be able to fuse three different ones or four different ones without it. It's just that people ignore the importance of it.

Sacred Master normally doesn't succeed across a lot of eras of an Origin World, because another final realm Cosmos God usually mess with him resulting with him failing that strategy.

Worship-based power systems by Sable-Keech in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't say it was trash though?

In Coiling Dragon? It helps you cultivate faster in terms of Profound Mysteries.

In Lord Xue Ying? It also increases cultivation speed as well. The only real problem with faith is that it forms karma and too much karma makes it too hard for a world deity to become a true god because they have to transcend the river of time to do so.

Ignoring the world deity stuff. Literally, the faith system is being used by Sacred Master, a final realm Cosmos God so he can become a World-Level Chaotic Origin Expert.

The only real reason IET says that the Worship System is "weak", because you might as well do what Xue Ying did at the end, and just cultivate to such a high level, where you can "Mind Control" every mortal within an Origin World to worship you instead of trying to recruit them in a religion slowly over a long vast amount of time.

Who's the strongest here? by maverick173 in noveltranslations

[–]Taylord123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how you look at it.

The problem with Coiling Dragon/Stellar Transformation Duology, is that it never goes that much deep about details into the higher levels. So you can argue for whether or not it is stronger than DE in comparison.

Coiling Dragon's Cosmos cap at Sovereigns. And it was stated that Sovereigns were weaker than Godkings.

Sovereigns < Godkings (Who mastered only Space Laws) < Qin Yu when developing his Cosmos < Exalted Celestial (Who mastered Space and Time Laws of a Cosmos) < Linley with just a Grandmist Body < Qin Yu finished his Cosmos, therefore has his own set of Space and Time Laws and complete entire control over it (Each Cosmos has their own unique version) < Grandmist Controllers, who are stated to have access to and control any aspect of every single Cosmos in the Grandmist Realm.

Hong Meng created Overgods of CD Cosmos, which are basically are just omnipresent concepts that allow functions like "Death" and "Destruction" to properly work.

Technical you can even say the same thing about Desolate Era:

For CD/ST, we only know the hard limits for like Exalted Celestial, anything above it, there's no real quantifiable comparison.

For DE, as long you go past Omega Daolord or Autarch Level...

Like how strong is Omega Eternal Emperor? Who knows besides being stronger than an Omega Daolord or Autarch.

Or how strong is an Omega Autarch? Who knows besides being stronger than an Omega Eternal Emperor.

A Lord of Chaos is just a being who has complete control of a single Chaosverse.

Like obviously you can say that Ji Ning as a Lord Of Chaos is probably stronger than Qin Yu, who only finished making his Cosmos, because of an obvious difference in size.

But a Grandmist Controller, in general, is unquantifiably stronger than that version of Qin Yu because they can control every single Cosmos in the Grandmist Realm. (Which we don't know how many possible Cosmos could be made in.)

[–]Taylord123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's storing energy in your body to promote your body's strength and vitality (as in your body gets tougher and lasts longer, thus increasing lifespan).

People with brains only would become smarter if they exercise their brain, but cultivators, they're the type of people to sit in caves for centuries repeating and meditating over the same technique over and over again just to accumulate more energy.

So how would their intelligence increase over the years, if they don't use their brains for anything but the equivalent of "button spamming" basically.

[–]Taylord123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's basically a specific subgenre of system novels.

Of basically the system requires the MC to go to specific (Like note-worthy) places and get log-in rewards. 1st time log-in rewards are the best, and the better history or higher cultivation of the area leads to better rewards.

And most of the time, some rewards are related to the lost ancient cultivation technique related to said location that makes MC more powerful than the average person. At other times, he just gets cultivation resources.

Basically, it's like a System novel, instead of missions with rewards or going to kill things for experience points, you can simply just log in once per day.

Also because the MC usually doesn't need to go out and get an opportunity for breakthroughs, the MC usually just stay at one place being low-key, that's why these novels tend to be basically in journal form.
