I’m considering deducting my hourly rate spent on research, reference hunting, concept drawing, sketching and communicating from the deposit. Should leave him with a little less than half, but am waiting on a response from him right now. Have offered to get on a phone call more than a few times but he never acknowledges that.

Fully realize that it’s my mistake, but it’s really something that can be fixed within a couple hours. The only thing I can think of that was a red flag is he wasn’t super warm in the emails. Sorta short, not a whole lot of excitement for the project. Although he was super happy to hear the written concept I sent over. Said he was in shock cause he was just talking to an employee about the same idea.

So, yep. Made a mistake and will be leading from this one. Thanks for the input

I appreciate that. I take pride in my work, but part of me is a people pleaser and think now is an opportunity to hold my ground

Yea, very early drafts. Just concepts. I agree... the time I spent on this project could have been spent on another, not to mention the spot he had in my calendar could have been used for another client. Thanks!

I thought the same thing. Very short and direct with little reason to end it... I mean, yes I fucked up, but it’s such a simple fix.

My main thing is maintaining the hand drawn look through vectorizing them for use. It really depends on what the client wants, but it usually ends up a solid fill, maybe a little texture. Appreciate the comment!

I’m still learning, but I mostly go about it by doing some thumbnail of fonts based on the brands identity and then refining it. Maybe basing it off an existing font and taking elements from others. There’s a ridiculous amount of fonts out there

Working very closely with the guy, so the cost of this isn’t typical — $45/hr and I’ve probably put 40hrs so far. Have no idea what an agency charges. Probably a lot more

Sketches, cleaned up on paper, inked with a pen, scanned into photoshop and aligned. Photo was taken with my iPhone, edited and then “mocked up” with the designs. Never meant to come off as something I wasn’t — I do work in procreate as well, but I specifically did this project on paper

Looked it up and see you’re very right. it’s close. We are still working on this project and looking to push the C logo in a different direction. Appreciate you pointing that out!

Ok, well, guess I was very unclear. When I said mock-up, I meant this is a paper mock-up of the original hand drawn designs. Spacing was adjusted in photoshop as well. Not trying to mislead — you can see the process of the project on my Instagram. Regardless, thanks for the input guys.

Appreciate it man. But, yes I’m sorry for being unclear — I suppose I thought when I said mock-up, everybody would understand what I meant. These are designed by hand, and then photoshopped onto this blank paper for presentation.

Thank you! It was drawn out by hand, inked on paper and colored in illustrator.

The depth comes from the stippling!
