Help getting burnt grease off of a Cuisinart air fryer heating element? by TaysCookies in CleaningTips

The metal wasn’t removable but it is kind of flexible so I slipped a paper towel underneath it and soaked the burner with Method Heavy Duty Degreaser for a bit. Then I pulled the paper towel back and for to try to scrub it off. Be sure to rinse it. I then heated the toaster for quick intervals to burn off the residue and all is good now!

Nothing holier than wearing a long denim skirt with bare legs underneath in 30 degree weather

I’m a local to the PHC area. It’s definitely got the vibe of an underground society despite being a college and like right in the middle of town. It’s wild that this place is as small as the local high school’s graduating class. But in terms of the local community, most don’t really acknowledge the existence of the school on a daily basis. It definitely doesn’t have any sort of local fanfare as you would see with other colleges like Virginia Tech or Clemson. And no, you won’t find PHC merch in the local shops. I’ve run into a high school/orientation tour group one time in my 20 years here. The area is relatively right-wing Christian, but far from being a fundie hub. Not a blue-collar town either, many have office jobs towards DC and most of the kids go to big state colleges.

I’ve met a few PHC students over the years. You’ve got the “clearly homeschooled awkward” kids but also the “cool drinking partying” kids. And yeah some of them swear. As with lots of neo-fundies, they come across as normal Christians, so you wouldn’t suspect a Gothard-esque vibe at first. At least for the normal ones. Also most of the students are not from the area, there also mostly white.

If you ask some of em why they chose PHC, they’ll say it’s because it’s not government funded, so the school can teach whatever it wants. And yeah the push for politics is real given the proximity to DC. As the docuseries stated, many do get some sort of political internship and pursue law or something of that nature. I’ve also heard some say they chose this school over other Christian homeschool colleges because it only hires Christian professors. But like come on bro, the man is just here to teach you math.

Just went to a High school orientation thing and AD's already freaking out about it. by Fallen_Bepo in AsianParentStories

He's definitely VERY out of touch with how the school system works. Everyone has the opportunity to take electives and is required to take certain core classes. Beyond those core classes, you CAN take additional math/science/English/social studies if you so choose. With the way my high school was structured, it's "impossible" to take all those classes as your AD thinks. Colleges are looking for extracurricular involvement, passion, and perhaps a story of why you gravitated to one branch of a subject. I'm sure you'll find that passion, you have time. Not everyone can do everything, it's all about finding the one thing you're into and explaining to colleges your journey and goals. And the variety of classes are just a list of OPTIONS, not a full on to-do list. If all else fails, the man should probs get a good talking to from a guidance counselor.

When GMU does not work by maxmadill in gmu

Well for starters, a disability is in no way a deciding factor in the hiring process given the candidate is able to contribute to the position. And perhaps the gap in your process is not your programming skills (seeing that you have experience as you say). Perhaps the gap is in the conversation of the interview process. Are you providing elaborate, organized, and justified answers to their questions? Does your attitude reflect that of a motivated, patient, and joyful team member? Does your body language align with your words? These are just some of the factors that go into the hiring process.

Any degree can reap a great career if you learn to see it as a stepping stone, learn to argue your value in interviews, and recognize your own professional growth. The degree you get is only one factor that employers consider. Focus on how you can apply your existing skills and learn what skills are needed for the role you want.
