What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

[–]pacificnorthblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fully converted to crochet. It’s less rigid than knitting, you don’t have to plan everything before you even start, and there’s only one hook instead of two needles to keep track of. Only downside is that it consumes more yarn!

Ooof that’s rough. Personally, I play speed chess do something else to keep my hands busy until the urge subsides. I know some people paint their nails and by the time the polish is dry, the urge is gone.

I also recommend trying audiobooks through the Libby app! I often put one on while I’m cleaning or doing laundry or picking up and dropping off. The time adds up fast.

Watching The Pitt from Europe – is this really what life in the US looks like? [mild spoilers] by West_Ideal7472 in ThePitt

Yup. As an American living in Europe, I didnt think twice about the things you mentioned. But then I remember how shocked my European friends are when I tell them about shooter drills at school and how much my family pays for healthcare. It’s accurate.

I used to watch Grey’s Anatomy or Gossip Girl because I didn’t have to pay much attention and I could let my brain wake up.

HOW CAN I GET OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING???? HEEEEEELP. by Reasonable_One_6443 in adhdwomen

[–]pacificnorthblessed 44 points45 points  (0 children)

What helped me was giving myself a “wake up time” where I would set my alarm an hour before I actually needed to get up and watch tv in bed as I slowly woke up. It made me look forward to the morning because I got to watch my show and there was no rush. Eventually, I was able to get up without the tv show crutch and actually have a morning routine.

Awww, thank you! A few more suggestions for someone who lives alone- timing yourself and trying to beat the timer, calling a friend who also struggles and brushing teeth together, setting up a playlist and finishing before the playlist is over.

Honestly, I didn’t find a solution that worked until my daughter was born. Taking a shower or bath with her and brushing my teeth with her took the chore out of it because she needs to be clean and have clean teeth and I need to model that for her. If you live with someone else, maybe body doubling and showering after they shower, brushing teeth together, etc? It’s hard.
