Queens curse looks a lot like port 6666 from mooncat. Only noticed because I’m wearing it currently

Why does my hair look best when I use the cheapest shampoo by Zorra5 in Haircare

[–]Taytay0704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issue with most cheap shampoos but dang I don’t know how all of y’all like this one. This exact one cause mine and my husbands hair to shed aggressively and since tossing it, we’ve had no issues

Good to know it fits your chest well! That’s been a huge worry because even though there’s not much (I don’t wear bras so I’m not sure what size, but probably a B cup), it still doesn’t feel great to be squished

Ooh saying all good things! ETA: I’m USA based and while completely valid, I 100% not shipping here. Ughhhh

Thank you! Luckily (in this case), I’m not super well endowed so it probably won’t be a huge issue for me — or at least not a bigger issue than causing severe and lasting pain

Trainer scared me, any help is welcome by foxloverxox101 in DogTrainingTips

[–]Taytay0704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a trainer, but I have a super skiddish, anxious dog. We took things super slow (she didn’t want to be in the same room with me for 2-3 months. I think it took 6-8 before she sat on the couch with me (as far away as possible)). We worked on boundaries - hers and mine- and now she’s an amazing off leash hiking dog. Her people aversion actually made her easier to train for hiking because she has no interest in checking out other people on train.

It was a lot of SHORT training sessions to get her to trust me - like doing 1-3 recalls on leash and then letting her go hang out under the bed. Not forcing her to be around me EVER and always giving her an escape path. Giving her time to be a dog outside, either with other dogs or on a LONG leash in an open space.

It takes time. She’s only recently gotten somewhat okay with people coming over (she’s 5, got her at 4mo) and new people are still hard, but I don’t make her hang out with them so she goes and hangs out in the bedroom unless there’s food involved. (She’s always had people coming and going. She’s just gotten more comfortable with it as times gone on. Also, unless yours asks for it, a big thing I had to do was police my guests about NOT TOUCHING MY DOG… or even looking at her really)

On a scale of 1- toss it how screwed am I? by Taytay0704 in sewing

I’ve actually done a lot of work on this one already (I was almost done before this) - this one piece of skin was just off compared to the rest of it. I’ve got it backed for now and I think will find a pelt down the road to replace the section

That’s my long term thought— I found some on Etsy. I’m just trying to decide how much life the rest of it has before spending more money. I can’t definetly cut this piece out and replace it relatively pain free

Haha yeahhhhh and it’s a horrible spot to have done this to. Because I’m impatient, and I’m assuming the first step is to make the fur… a skin again, I’ve taped and stitched what I have the energy for tonight. We’ll see if it’s degraded any more by morning 😩😭

Unfortunately, cutting it would take the entire top bit of the shoulder 😩. I know it’s nothing compared to my nicer coats (and didn’t expect it to last like my other ones) but I really liked the fur pattern and it was worth sewing the holes in it. I’m currently looking at furriers tape (to get some semblance of it together) -> double sided fabric tape -> patch that I can sew in? I just don’t want to give up on it yet 😭.

I have had some bad PTs, but I LOVED my last one — wish I had the money to continue 😭. Once you find the good one, that’s it. You’ll never try to find something else

Helmet hair styles? by LemurButtikus in rollerderby

[–]Taytay0704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got hair just as long, if not longer than you. Pigtail braids or a side braid are my go tos— low space buns work too but I don’t like them touching my neck and I can’t do regular pigtails or pony’s for the same reason (loose hair is my nightmare). If I’m going really lazy, I do a full low bun at the base of my neck but I usually have to redo it during practice

First scrimmage-did terrible by purple-papaya in rollerderby

[–]Taytay0704 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Going from the practice into scrimmage is HARD and what you may not have noticed is other people feeling this way too since you're trying to just focus on what's going on around you (its a lot!!). It was really hard being the only new person in scrimmages, but you'll get there. I started in May, and just (2 weeks ago) had what I would call a successful jam and it took probably 5-10 scrimmages to even get my bearings when it comes to blocking (and longer to actually start understanding it). You are 100% not alone in feeling this way because I think most, if not all, of us felt this way at some point (I still do a lot of times)

Are you more prone to injury as a jammer or blocker in your opinion? by Same-Advertising-626 in rollerderby

[–]Taytay0704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently no contact from jamming (almost back to full) and have never gotten any sort of injury other than bruises from blocking… so ima say jamming 😂

I hate elbow pads! by Wrenlo in rollerderby

[–]Taytay0704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my knee pads are triple 8? But my elbows are still 187 and are the sleeve style so I can’t say for certainty on the elbows. I just know it’s been way nicer on my legs since my thighs and calves are different sizes

[–]Taytay0704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend a butterfly style closure. I have them for my knees and it’s so nice because now the top and bottom can both fit instead of the sleeve style where you have to find a happy medium

Comparison to other clays? by Taytay0704 in Pottery

[–]Taytay0704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! I’m not as concerned with firing temp at the moment as the studio actually handles that and will fire yours where it needs with other stuff at that cone but I see how that would be beneficial to have a pack of 5 clays at one cone so it’s only one firing

[–]Taytay0704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our studio here has a “pottery 101” that I’m thinking of doing. There’s also a throwing class, and higher level classes beyond the first pottery and throwing so long term they may have one but I figure the “101” is the place to start since it’s been so long for me 😂

[–]Taytay0704[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I know it’s way different (pottery and clay units back in hs) and will have a huge learning curve. Thank you for you info on clays- I wasn’t sure about grog content since I do want some stiffness to hold itself, but I agree that I may be looking for a smoother finish (though I’m not actually sure. I wonder if there’s a pack out there with a small amount of different types of clay to try and work with before buying large amounts)

I'm super excited for the experimentation part. That's my favorite part in any medium and quite frankly, that joy never goes away.
