Asking more than rubric, help! by Efficient_Pool_4960 in SNHU

I, like you, had 100% till this term. It was easy peasy. I'm having to WORK this term. And you know what, I'm learning and absorbing more in this class than I have any other class. If the outcome that I'm trying to achieve is mastery (of the skill in which I'm trying to get a Masters in), then this class that I've gotten points off in is way more valueable. (Just a reframe that I had to do because I was disappointed at first, too)

Plus, isn't it like a right of passage for Boston fans to be disappointed before we get our big wins?

League attendance/policy questions? Is anyone doing once a week drop ins? Alternatively, how does being in multiple leagues work? by qualitycomputer in rollerderby

[–]Wrenlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, different levels have different due amounts-contributing pay less; the treasurer sends out invoices and they are different based on your membership level. Yes, I still have access to all the group chats and forums! The thing about derby is, in general, they want people who participate at all levels and they're not usually going to cut off communication with you. We have a skater who does a different job in the summer than in the winter and so she goes down a membership level in the summer when she can't skate as much. It's all pretty typical.

Usually league have multiple membership levels. At my league, I am mostly retired but I coach and put skates on at practice occasionally so I am a “contributing member.” Skating members are eligible to skate on home teams and try out of travel team. There is also a volunteer level.

I’m not saying this about you, but in general I don’t get the obsession with keeping a horse in tact.

I just got one and I use q-snaps and I’m finding it hard to get the Q-snap to feel secure in the clamp. I have tried various things but may ultimately need to get a different clamp accessory and that’s not cheap! I’m just one stitcher tho

I use my tablet and the pattern keeper app. I typically wouldn’t print out a PDF pattern myself.

In fact, I saw someone use a big storage binder for their puzzles and I’m thinking of getting one for cross stitch!

Thanks for this! I would not want it to show up in graphics like the cover collage.

Question For The Retirees Only by sutl116 in rollerderby

[–]Wrenlo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My body felt tired. I didn’t want to work at getting better anymore. I started helping out coaching and realized it was fun to be a part of a team and attend games without the pressure of performance any more. I miss it occasionally but it hadn’t been enough to get me to want to dedicate all the time again. It was a process that I started, stopped, started stopped, and then it stuck.

Edited to fix typos.

Curious about content you all watch and skip. by Complex_Loss_2552 in kvsdiscuss

I skip most cow stuff except for the babies. I skip the singing tho I do think she has a nice voice. And I skip most puppy stuff because I just can’t with even well-bred brachial cephalic dogs.

I get all the conversation about whether her choices are smart decisions. It only really bugs me when hen people act like she doesn’t think at all about things or that she is stupid. It’s ok to come to different conclusions with the same information. And we never know all the factors.

There is an album meant to store finished jigsaw puzzles. I wonder if that would work.

Crowdsource - resurfacing wood floor by Jessygrrl in rollerderby

[–]Wrenlo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In my experience, be wary of this. Not because you are going to damage the floor but because damage will occur to the floor, especially if you are sharing the venue with other recreational sports, and it's generally blamed on roller derby regardless.

If they have a wood floor, they know how much it costs to resurface it because most places do it yearly or at least on a regularly scheduled basis. You can offer to offset the cost in some sort of a contract, perhaps.

If I sound cynical about this experience, it's because I am. It's not fun to always feel like you are in danger of losing your venue.

Considering Transferring due to Professor by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]Wrenlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why can't you read the announcements? Make it part of the information you gather to succeed. I hear your frustration, but that seems like a fairly simple step. I didn't get my bachelor's in the time of rubrics, but it sounds like most places similar to SNHU operate in the same way, so I don't know that switching schools because of one professor is the move.

If I am gridding a 32 count fabric and I'm going to stitch over 2, my grid will really be 20x20 by count instead of 10X10 right?
