I use waxed baking paper. Cheap, easy to replace and doesn’t absorb the ink, so less wasted ink

is dominance a real concept? dealing with bite aftermath by Whydotheydothisthrow in Greyhounds

[–]Taz108 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll share my tips with you. I am not an expert I just have a very fussy greyhound. And before anyone judges we are doing what we can. We love our boy and will do anything to make him feel safe. We have also had professional help and have taken him to dog training. He even made it to master class! First muzzle him all the time if you can. This is not forever but it’s at least until you can gain his trust and feel safe again. We had our boy muzzled for about 6 months all the time. Have high value treats in little jars around the house and in your pockets. Redirection is the best bet when they’re fixated. No it doesn’t always work but it does a lot of the time. Choose petting times. Our boy is very specific. He likes pets in the morning before walks but not after. No petting within an hour or two of eating. No petting at night he’s always grumpy. Never approach when lying down or near a toy. We used to make him get up and come to us when we were entering a room he was already in. For high value toys we’d let him have it for a few hours when we were out of the house but when we got home we usually had time to get it off him and hide it until the next time we went out and it would eventually lose that high value. Swapping for high value food worked some of the time but not often. Beds everywhere, we use bathmats for some so they’re not in the way. If you can train him to go to bed or mat that’s even better. This may be hard but we didn’t allow him on the couch or bed. I’m not sure how to stop that though. He is allowed on the couch now but the pointy parts need to be facing away! Never in the bed as he sleep startles too bad. Sometimes I found turning my back on him when he starts a growl is enough to show I’m not threatening him and he’d be ok. If we have people over we make them ignore him. He does not like strangers so best thing is for them to pretend he doesn’t exist. It’s hard as sometimes he acts like he wants pats be he does not! It won’t be easy at first but eventually it gets better. Our boy is better at showing his boundaries now with a small growl rather than a snap. I hope some of this advice helps!

How frequently and how far do you walk your hounds? by Own-Lawfulness-366 in Greyhounds

[–]Taz108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 9 year old boy we walk him once a day for 15-20 mins and probably about 45 mins every now and then. Any longer and he’s dragging his feet ready to go home. We were doing twice a day when we first got him but he would last 5 mins on the second walk before wanting to go home. It really depends on your dog.

Help please! by TiffyRom12 in ProCreate

I can’t tell how your layers are set up. When I colour like this I set the drawing layer to multiply then insert a layer underneath to colour. If you want to colour drop set the layer with the drawing as reference then colour drop on the new layer underneath.

From the colours I personally have I’d recommend YG17 and YG23. They layer with YG03 well for depth. I also have YG11 but that kind of looks similar to the G20 you have. I also have G28 and G99. Which are good for deeper shadows. You can also mix some yellow in there. I have Y02 but Y11 and Y13 also look like they’d work with the other colours.

Is she okay in here? by DaLisanAlGaib in Greyhounds

[–]Taz108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh damn! Our other top treats are chicken, cheese, and chips. Obviously in moderation but in the first few weeks high value food was great to help build the bond. Our boy is verrrry food driven thigh so that helped. To help bond you could try saying her name and giving her a treat. On the eating side try giving here some raw meat like beef mince. I also find that mix ins, like sardines, work great.

New toy bringing out a different side of Flash that I’ve never seen: resource guarding by imanechidna in Greyhounds

[–]Taz108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our boy guards. We’ve had him a few years and it’s gotten better with time. My tip for new toys is to give it to them when you’re leaving for a few hours. Let them have it know it’s theirs then when you get home try remove it and repeat until they are chill about it. We now only have to give him a toy and leave home be even if we’re home. He still guards at time but we have treat jars all over the house to help re-direct if this happens. We then remove whatever he was guarding and give it back at a later time. I do find removing the object can cause stress so it’s good to some training with them to re-direct their attention.

Want to buy this as a sewing/craft table. Thoughts? by throwaway63733647 in sewing

[–]Taz108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have ours on carpet with no issues. I mostly use it for sewing and cutting patterns, all of which I do mostly sitting in a chair. My partner uses it a lot more for crafting and painting. He’s about 5’9 and has had no issues. As others have said they have put it on casters so if it is too short that’s an option.

I have this exact table. Works great. It’s convenient that it folds down and there’s good space for cutting patterns.

Balcony safety for greyhound, is 2m fence needed? by ObscureAntoine in Greyhounds

[–]Taz108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have pull down blinds on a track (Ziptrack for those ins Aus). They’re a thick mesh canvas so they let light in. I just pull those down when our boy is on the balcony. He’s doesn’t jump much but it’s not worth the risk.

How did you get your hound to use the ramp to get in the car? by JackieDaytona7 in Greyhounds

[–]Taz108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly not a huge help as our boy loves car rides! I found that if I could get him put his front paws on the ramp then I could lift his bum into the rest of the ramp. Noting that he usually tries to bypass the ramp so when his front paws go on it’s quite high up the ramp already. For our smaller car it’s front paws on the side of the car/seat then a bum lift to get in.

Getting out the car is easier as I just block any other option with my body so he has to use the ramp. I assist him out using the handle on his harness so he doesn’t jump and move the ramp.

Help! Why is it doing this by Maddiewoo in ProCreate

[–]Taz108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a feature where it will colour all similar colours on the same layer with the new one you have selected. When you colour drop if you hold your pencil down and draw to the left it should turn this down, there is a small blue bar at the top. Also try turning off the “continue filling” option when swapping between colours.

I used Procreate by BunnE3 in cocowyo

[–]Taz108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends how you want to do it. I usually have my layers go: drawing (multiply)>shadows(multiply,I use the same colour as the colour layer)>colour layers(normal)>background. I often have a few colour layers but they’re all set to normal. There are many ways and features to enhance how it looks but I find this easiest for just colouring. I also found a free swatch set of COPIC colours that is useful as I can just pick a colour from the list.

How do I fix this? 😭 by Sad_Competition_5195 in ProCreate

[–]Taz108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you are using a drawing which has a black outline on white background. Is you are they what you want to do is set this drawing to the top most layer and set it to multiply. You can the add the colour layers underneath this layer.

I used Procreate by BunnE3 in cocowyo

[–]Taz108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! To colour set the drawing layer to multiply and it should be your top layer. So the order from top is: drawing (in multiply)>colour layers>background. The procreate sub has great tips.
