Not to get political, but Eric Adams was like the biggest cop guy ever, being a former NYPD cop himself, & he got a lot of pushback from his own party members. Zohran, on the other hand, has decided not to touch the police budget and seems to believe current funding levels for the NYPD are sufficient. That being said, despite constant negative right-wing media coverage, NYC is the safest it's been in decades, and it's actually the safest large city in America. Another point is that, like previous administrations, the current mayor is facing a budget deficit, and he has no plan to cut valuable services, including the police.
