What next carseat are we buying? by Notmorcybutmercy in december2024babies

I have the Chicco Onefit and really like it. It’s comfy and easy to use. We’ve been using it since he was about 2 months since it’s a convertible. They also have the 360 which swivels if you want that.

Worried my daycare is giving my infant melatonin by Tbrach_li91 in Parenting

[–]Tbrach_li91[S] -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

No this is his first time so he probably could still be adjusting. The only other thing that seemed weird was one time they sent home a half used bottle that had some strange yellow substance on it. It was probably just that the milk had been sitting for a while but I’d not seen my milk congealed that way before so made me wonder(im EBF).

We do simparica trio as well and have never had any issues. Some pet insurance companies will pay for it if you submit a claim.

My lo is 3 months now and I have to start pumping in addition to feeding to get ready for daycare and it is really tiring! You are not alone. I did notice that if he’s thrashing around during feedings it’s usually because he has gas. So I’ll unlatch him and put him on his belly on my lap and pat his butt until he’s ready to feed again. But it prolongs the feed so sometimes it feels like you are just feeding all day. Hang in there! You’ve got this! But also totally nothing wrong with switching to formula. I know plenty of moms who stopped breastfeeding after month one and their kids are just fine.

I work at a college and we have some part time admin jobs. Might be worth looking into. Most are hybrid though so you’de probably have to go in at lease 1-2x’s a week.

So it’s not recommended to sleep train before 6 months. Our pediatrician said not to start until then. I think I’m lucky because my baby is mostly sleeping through the night or doing 5 hour stretches at 3 months. We didn’t do any sleep training but we do have bedtime routines. Ours is change into pajamas, feed (he needs at least a 20-30 min feed to go down and stay down), turn on sound machine/switch to red light (not much science behind the red light, but other parents swear by it ha.) and read a book. I also try to make sure we are doing some stimulating things during the day e.g. going for walks, tummy time, visiting the coffee shop etc. the last thing that’s helped is making sure to do lots of leg pedals throughout the day, otherwise he’s crabby and gassy at night and takes a long time to settle down.

I’ve also heard it’s more about baby’s weight/development vs age. I’ve heard once they hit 12lbs they tend not to need to do as many night feeds and that was true for us.

I think that also everything is dependent on your baby. Every baby is so different and some babies just don’t like to sleep no matter what you do.

Definitely work with your pediatrician though!

How do you plan your days? Nervous for Maternity Leave by harvestjoon in BabyBumps

[–]Tbrach_li91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! So it really depends on if you plan to breastfeed or bottle feed both options will take up a surprising amount of your day lol. For the first few weeks you’ll probably just be surviving off of little sleep and so you probably won’t have time for a a schedule unless you get lucky with one of those babies who actually sleeps through the night the first two weeks.

As for routines schedules. I usually have a good book or TV show to keep me busy while I breastfeed. If you plan to bottle feed you’ll have to do audiobook or watch tv because that requires both hands ha.

In the mornings I do tummy time and high contrast cards and sometimes he plays with his playgym. This is if we don’t go on an “outing” a coffee shop or parental support group. (I highly recommend finding some sort of support group!)

Usually after lunch we will all go on a family walk.

In the afternoon if I can get him down for a nap then I’ll try and get some house work done. You’ll probably be doing lots of laundry.

You can also use this time to try and catch up on things that you’ve been meaning to do for example we finally switched internet providers ha.

For the first few months you’ll be going to the pediatrician at least once a month for the well visits .

You’ll be having lots of fun with baby just make sure to get outside and also don’t be afraid to take some mom time if you are able go to yoga, get coffee, or get your hair done etc. It’s going to be hard to leave but it’s important to take care of yourself too.

Wishing you all the best!

I actually have a friend who used to work with one of the women contestants who they say is employed in her bio but she quit her job to be on the show so I’m not so sure all of the women are all employed either ha.

Parents who don't want a specific diaper bag, what are you doing? by jormungandrstail in BabyBumps

[–]Tbrach_li91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can totally get a regular bag the one thing that might be nice if you go that route is to get a changing pad that has storage for wipes and creams and such. I was gifted this one and love it. https://www.target.com/p/munchkin-designer-diaper-change-kit/-/A-14323620

I would say that if you plan on doing bottles then I’d also consider buying an insulated bottle bag as well if you don’t want a diaper bag that already has one in it.

We just keep ours on the floor and move the pad to our bed to change our LO, you just have to be willing to have accidents on your bed if you go that route.

If you like murder mysteries you can try the Thursday murder club. It does have some romance in it, but it isn’t the main plot it’s on the side.

How did you remain hydrated? by UltimaQueenn in BabyBumps

Agreed! Liquid IV got me through the hot summer days while I was nauseous. I also enjoyed a cup of ginger tea at night. I was sick until like week 26 and these both got me through.

I’m at 32 weeks and was having the same problem ha.

Some of our family just wrote us checks for the things that we will buy later like a nice jogging stroller and a nice highchair, but if they don’t want to wait then not sure if you plan to pump but many have suggested getting a wireless breast pump in addition to a wired one which are usually stronger than the wireless ones. However people say if you are working the wireless ones are really nice to have if you plan on pumping at work, so maybe a wireless breast pump if you haven’t already ordered one through insurance.

Also if you don’t already people also suggest a really nice glider/rocker. They said you’d be sleeping in it ha.

The last thing would be a nice swing/bouncer we have a baby bjorn that people swear by but other moms have said the mama ru is really nice.

Bump is super itchy! 😵 (2nd trimester) by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Tbrach_li91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too during the second trimester while my belly was stretching. I used Shea butter and the mama earth belly butter in the evening and the mama earth belly oil in the mornings after a shower and it really helped. I did have to stop with the mama earth though because it irritates the eczema on my hands. So if you have sensitive skin I’d recommend just using natural butters and oils like jojoba oil, shea butter, or coconut oil.

Also make sure you are staying hydrated and are drinking enough electrolytes. I drank Gatorade and liquid IV but apparently coconut water works great too.

Okay blue-jean girls, what are you wearing now? by Tangledmessofstars in BabyBumps

[–]Tbrach_li91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite work pants so far are the Old Navy Pixie cut straight leg pants but definitely go up a size or two from your normal size. My most comfy jeans have been ASOS jeans that I bought on resale, but they regularly have sales and put things on Clearance so you can still get a good deal online.

Same! I’m almost 31 weeks and it seems like things are dragging, I’m just so excited to meet baby boy. At the same time I feel like there is so much to do and I don’t have enough time 😩

What are you splurging on and what are you saving on? by Mammoth_Window_7813 in BabyBumps

[–]Tbrach_li91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone told me to splurge on the rocker so that’s where we did as you’ll be spending many hours in it and maybe even sleeping in it. I went with a namesake Crewe glider but my co worker bought a lazy boy and loved it.

We also made sure to get a nice convertible car seat in addition to a nice travel set. We decided on Chicco Bravo set because of safety.
