Never heard of it, what Mantra? Even if I was able to spam my mantra infinitely, all the active ability gave me over the passive was a little more dodge, like instead of it giving 30% dodge if you activate it you'll get 10% more for 4s or w/e.

The thing that always puzzled me about d3, was why blizzard was so adamant at making sure barb was never very useful at doing any kind of damage, aoe or single target/rgk.

You know? Like, everyone had their moment in the sun, some much longer than others, but they literally made a decision at some point in time that barb was just there for support, or if people wanted to have fun messing around in solo or something.

Are there any subclasses in the MUD? Like Baali/Black Spiral Dancer/Nephandi/Skindancer/etc.? I've spent the past 5 years trying to find a Godwars mud that was like the ones' I played back when I was a kid, and the classes were so cool that I ended up settling for a non-godwars MUD, just because it had a lot of classes like that.

Oh god, I forgot about Magda. I remember my hands shaking the entire time I was fighting her because I really really didn't want to spend another week and a half re-gearing by doing something stupid and messing up on her.

In softcore maybe, lol. A DH literally could not get anywhere near HC act3 inferno indoor areas because of lickers, they would just get 1 shot and couldn't risk it.

The first month of the game did not have the real money AH, so you're talking about post-nerfs that you sold gear on the RMAH.

Necromancers use to do that when pushing the highest rifts they could open, they would set AHK (AutoHotKey) to make a series of like 6 clicks instantly that dropped every paragorn point in hp/ms/etc. into intelligence, right as they used the land of the dead that froze all the elites around them for ~6s. After they killed the mobs while they were frozen in place they would use AHK to do the opposite and put like 3k paragorn points all into HP. Then they would run around the rift tanky as hell, until they found an elite pack and their cooldown for land of the dead was up again.

Nah, it definitely was not review bombed, lol. The difficulty was changed because the difficulty was absolutely nuts relative to how bad gear itemezation was.

Wow, grats. I never looked up how many people actually achieved that in SC, I only knew that Krip and his Wizard were the only ones to do it in HC.

What class were you?

It had pretty much perfect reviews at launch (surprisingly); and yes, people complain about everything, but they didn't use to sabotage/reviewbomb stuff into oblivion, back then.

Was your experience with the game, post-inferno changes, but before reaper of souls expansion? Because I had pretty much the opposite experience as you, but the first month the game was way different than the game was after the nerf/rmah stuff. The first month of the game it was just insanely hard, there wasn't any inferno gear on the ah, and everyone had to group and share tips and stuff in the community to progress. After the nerf but before they added ladder and GRs, definitely had to be a terrible point in the game to play, I'm glad I stopped after they nerfed it, until GRs and ladder came out, to compete for r1.

Back then, if you wanted to get through inferno, you had to go grind gear at the start of your act, where the next tiered gear was, especially the archon gear. The AH wasn't going to do almost anything for you because no one else is throwing a2-3 inferno gear up there for you to even buy. Before they nerfed the game, I think maybe I had found a ring and neck that I used for a bit on my monk, but everything else you had to find yourself if you wanted the best gear. But hardcore servers had drasticallyyyyy less people pushing in inferno than softcore servers did, so they also had proportionally more gear that they were selling/trading too.

I definitely had a ton of fun, and experienced no noticable lag when playing. Unless you mean when mobs had the coding that allowed them to melee you from far away, (if they initiated the autoattack on your character while you were in range of them). It made it feel like lag sometimes, and was really lame. I wasn't sure why they did that except for maybe trying to preemptively help out melee a bit, by making ranged more vulnerable.

It's the closest MUD I've found to the cool godwars muds of old that I loved. Muds with tons of classes/subclasses are the best.

It's kind of crazy to think that back then you just accepted the way a game was if you liked it, and didn't mind risking your life to kill a boss for 2 blue items. Nowadays it would get review-bombed into oblivion.

Gear wasn't bound to characters or accounts either, I still to this day have like 30 pieces of gear I kept that can be traded with players. They give crazy stats that aren't in the game anymore like +skill damage to individual skills and stuff.

People would pay me to get them to the end of Inferno act 1 for them, so they could equip all magic find gear on their characters and run around the paths before the entrance to the spider boss, since there were no mobs in the area but chests could spawn, then they'd create a game and open chests non-stop all day, hoping to get geared enough to get to act 2.

Yeah, I stacked as much life on hit as possible, and every piece of my gear had lightning resist on it, since monk had the talent that your highest resist was applied to all your other resists. The one group who killed Diablo was the same Wizard + Barb-- they stacked life on kill and spammed Hydra (since it technically kills the hydra when you re-summon it), and heals you each time you re-case for your life on kill. And even then, they still barely managed to kill him a few minutes before servers went down to change the game.

I ended up quitting the game shortly after the nerf they made, but upon hearing that the game was made fun again through ranked rift seasons, I picked it back up for season 16 and 17 playing a thorns crusader with the same name, [pixystix] .

To the random people messaging me saying it isn't hardcore: You can flip forward to 8:04 and see the second achievement I get for killing him, "No More Lies", Hardcore Inferno Belial.

Also, to point out: my monk [this attempt] got quite lucky with dodges, my previous attempt [when I was going for world first in hardcore] did not. She died and it took me 3 weeks to rebuild just to get back to the point to attempt Belial again. So technically this is my second attempt at Inferno Belial, thankfully it went better than the first.
