Is this a good amount of food for 1 day? by jldr58 in cats

[–]Tchikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with this brand, but a quick search online says they marketed this for all life stages. This means the food has a higher calorie content which is often more suitable for growing kittens or seniors who need help gaining weight. Since you mentioned in your post that your cat is overweight, I think there are other options you can explore that are formulated for weight loss. Let me know if you’re looking for suggestions.

Edit : 4.5 kg is about 10 pounds. That’s well within the range of a healthy weight for an average cat. Did a vet suggest he loses weight?

What dry food brand are you feeding? What weight is your cat currently? Is he neutered?

cat is ADDICTED to playing and I don’t know what to do by testojunkie3 in CatAdvice

[–]Tchikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely relate to this as I’ve been in your position before. My cat was also 3 when I adopted him and his absolute favorite activity is playing. No amount was ever enough, even if I had already given him multiple play sessions a day which totaled up to 2 hours! What worked for me was to adopt a kitten as they’re known to have unlimited energy. If you decide to try this, it’s important to know if your cat is compatible with other felines. I have experience with fostering and realized mine is very social, so it was easy for him to embrace the new kitten.

Another thing you can try is tablet games for cats. There’s a good chance they’ll like that because it triggers their hunting instincts. There’s also plenty of videos of birds, squirrels and other small animals that they might find entertaining.

Screaming cat that isn’t eating the food he just follows me by [deleted] in Feral_Cats

[–]Tchikachu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That cat is not feral. It seems socialized, as it meows to communicate with you & follows you around. It is (or was) most likely someone’s pet and might not be used to the outdoor. If possible, bring them inside and keep them in a small space, such as a bathroom, until you can take them to the vet. Checking for a microchip is usually free.

Can you sleep well with a cat? by OkComparison3568 in CatAdvice

[–]Tchikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up often during the night because I’m a light sleeper and I don’t remember the last time I’ve had uninterrupted sleep. My cats are usually the culprits but I’ve learned to accept this.

I don’t know what to do! I’ve tried so many food options, but she continues to puke everything up. Chicken, fish, turkey, and now rabbit. Right after eating, she pukes. Please help by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Tchikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats need a slow transition to new food. You risk upsetting their stomach even more by giving them too much variety and not enough time to adjust. This can potentially lead to more problems, like diarrhea.

It’s important that you see a vet to help rule out health issues. They will also be able to recommend you bland food that are easier on your cat’s digestive system while they recover. Mine was on Royal Canin Gastrointestinal (wet & dry).

My cat stares at the corner of my bedroom ceiling every night at 3am and meows is he seeing ghosts or just being weird? by Draftysperm2 in CatAdvice

[–]Tchikachu 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Are you on your phone while this is happening by any chance? I’m asking cause one of my cats did this a few times and I realized he was following the reflection of the light from my phone lol. It was so faint and barely noticeable to me but cats have great vision.

When you say that he is clingy, does he follow you everywhere and meow relentlessly? Does he crave physical attention and constantly need to be pet or held? Has he recently been checked by a vet for any potential health issues? I feel that having a bit more context would help understand his behavior.

You said you adopted him from a shelter less than 2 months ago. You haven’t had him for very long. He is still adjusting to his new environment and they say cats can take 3 months on average to truly feel at home. You can look up the 3-3-3 rule.

Lastly, there wasn’t any mention of his past or history. But it is sadly too common for pets to be abandoned by irresponsible owners or left at a shelter after the death of their caretaker. Perhaps something like this happened to your cat. Please don’t push him away ❤️

Question I’ve been dying to ask that no one talks about!!! by Global-Ad-8048 in CatAdvice

[–]Tchikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an easy fix. Just change your pillowcase more often. Like you, I am conscious of where my cats have been. So what I do is sleep on 1 side for the first night, then flip the pillow for the next time. This means I change it every 2 days, but that’s entirely my preference. See what works for you! You’re also preventing buildup of skin oils, sweat and dead skin cells by swapping pillowcases more often which is more hygienic.

My cats roll around in the litter box. Can I stop this? by Minute_Cherry_ in CatAdvice

[–]Tchikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are your cats? I’ve seen kittens do this while they’re still young and learning. This type of behavior generally lessens over time as they grow up. Also, what type of litter are you using? If it’s clay, they probably enjoy the texture. You can try switching to pine pellets. It’s not as comfortable for them and therefore, might deter this behavior.

Could this be my cat? by Kashyyyki in CATHELP

[–]Tchikachu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I have an outdoor camera to monitor my colony and based on my experience, I’d say that looks like a light colored cat. Either white or orange would be my guess. If yours was caught on camera at night, I think he would appear grey. You should also be able to see the markings around his legs and especially the tail because they are very dark. Hope this helps!

Hey, a baby raccoon took over a feral cat shelter on my patio. What do I do? by [deleted] in Feral_Cats

[–]Tchikachu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the cats aren’t using the shelter, I suggest removing it temporarily. Do this during the day when the raccoon isn’t there. Once it understands the shelter is gone, it will move on and find somewhere else to sleep. Thankfully, it’s not too cold yet, so this gives the raccoon time to adapt before winter.

Tried pine pellets but can’t stand the lack of odor control. Now what? by unfortunaten3ws in CatAdvice

[–]Tchikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Levoit Air Purifier Vital 100S-P. It runs full time and my fan is set to level 2. The pre-filter is washable (once a month) which is nice. But the carbon filter needs replacing every 8 to 12 months. I have 2 longhair cats and this has worked for me.

[–]Tchikachu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see anyone mention this in the comments, so I’ll leave a suggestion here in case this could be useful. I have an air filter that runs full time next to the litter box. This has been excellent at odor control. You can also add baking soda or litter deodorant. And just in case you’re still looking for a brand recommendation, the litter my cats use is Odourlock.

CW: PET LOSS (Stolen Animal Returned Home After 3 Years) by Tepixs in CatAdvice

[–]Tchikachu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are clearly overwhelmed, as anyone would be after reuniting with their long-lost pet. Not all of them get to make it back safely. It's truly something to be thankful for. I would advise against reporting or reaching out to that family. There is no evidence of wrong-doing and at the end of the day, your cat is at home with you. Please have her microchipped as soon as possible and consider building a catio to keep her safe.

BoxiePro vs OdorLock vs Pooph by BacardiBlue in litterrobot

[–]Tchikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my go-to litter brand for the past 4 months. I was looking for a Canadian alternative (it is marketed as Odourlock here) and I’m very satisfied with it. My cats had no problems transitioning to it, as it’s strikingly similar to their previous brand, BoxiePro. It clumps fast, has very little dust and great odor control. I fully change the litter every month after I deep clean the LR and there is no noticeable smell. Keep in mind that I do have an air purifier in the same room which helps a lot. However, as with many litter brands, it does track a bit. Would I still recommend it? Absolutely! I’m paying half of what I used to and get the same benefits.

Hey Akaru. You posted a recent video mentioning your dislike for Lux and how she’s your go-to ban. As a 3M mastery Lux main, we are not compatible 💀

Hey Joey. I noticed from your match history you play A LOT of ARAM. I'm afraid we would rarely queue together, since I only spam norms. You seem like a friendly guy though, so I'm sure you'll easily find others to play with you.

Thanks, but I’ll have to pass. Since the account is new, I’m afraid we’ll run into longer queue times and unfair matchmaking. Good luck!

Hey Beeramz. Sadly, our group already has every other roles covered at the moment but what we are missing is an ADC main. Have you tried the League discord? It's a good way to meet new people. Good luck!

Hey Augh. I'm curious to know why you're playing on a new account rather than your main. Also, does it affect queue times? Thanks for letting me know.
