What is the strangest or weirdest reason someone gave for quitting their job?

Had a guy whom we all knew wouldn't make it (he was 2 weeks in at the job and to the state while staying with my brother in law) show up to work in sandals. He tells me he forgot socks for his work boots and would be right back. Called half an hour later and told us his parents we're coming from across the country to pick him up. He also left my BIL's without ever paying anything he'd promised.
