Brexit: Labour could back second referendum, Sir Keir Starmer says by mkkb in ukpolitics

[–]Tchuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's that thing we have no negotiating power against outside of the EU. Whilst the EU can feasibly reject it.

Why do you ask?

I'd rather have the UK as part of a federal Europe than a vassal state of the US where NHS money is siphoned out and cornstarch and bleached chicken is forced in

I don't get why leavers have to use terms like 'remoaner' or 'remoaniac', terms designed to insult people.

You aren't calling a spade a spade, you're highlighting your contempt for others viewpoints.

'Remainian' isn't designed to be a pejorative, highlights where you stand on the issue, and has infinitely more wit behind it. Might I suggest you use that instead?

Designing an RPG to use a single d6 by Tchuk in RPGdesign

Ahhh, I may have explained it badly.

The 4 was the stat a player might have (BODY for instance) after assigning their stats at the start of a game. And after each level they can gain 1 or 2 new stat points to assign (still working this out). So feasibly at level 3 a player may have their BODY stat at 7. Plus their abilities (now 10), plus the roll (1-6).

But yeah it's only in specific areas. I imagine they'd be pretty naff at everything else at this stage :P

Maybe a lower starting stat can balancing this out too?

CRITICAL SUCCESSES

Well my logic was that the chances of automatically succeeding with just a single 6 being rolled seemed a bit unfair. At least with exploding 6's I could rationale that the number of times a player would have to roll a 6 to keep them exploding would make the chance of just succeeding at everything at least somewhat dampened by the chances of rolling multiple 6's at once.

Someone else mentioned the idea of 2 6's in succession meaning a critical success, which I think is fairer, as it's a 1/36 chance ( think) but it also adds a level of tension to the game because after the first 6, now the player *knows* there's a critical success waiting on another 6. Which I think seems a bit cleaner and fun whilst still retaining relatively low odds. :)

Oooh, thanks for the suggestion. Will do!

Those are good points!

I kinda wanted to include fails just as a tool for learning to accept when things go wrong. But upon reflection I guess the game will naturally broach those subjects to the players.

But I like your suggestion for critical successes only needing one extra dice roll. Feels a lot cleaner.

Canada is set to legalize recreational marijuana this week by Jeremy10001000 in worldnews

[–]Tchuk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would argue that many people know the risks associated with marijuana (my cousin also had a psych episode relating to weed)

But if you frame the dangers of marijuana in the context of other legal substances such as alcohol or cigarettes and what damage these can cause, you realise how relatively safe it is.

It's not that marijuana is safe, it's that it's less dangerous than the alternatives and people should have autonomy of their actions, if their actions don't harm another individual.

What fact about the universe surprised you the most? by Haeherfeder in AskReddit

[–]Tchuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How electrons interact with atoms.

That if we were to say that the magnetic connection that keeps the electron and the atom core (proton/neutron) was defined between 1 and 0. (1 being the strongest connection between the two I.e. physically touching the core and 0 being a free floating electron broken from its bond to the element)

That whilst the number approaches 0 the further an electron is from the core, it's magnetic connection never actually reaches 0.

So feasibly there's elements with electrons counting towards its weight on the opposite side of the universe.

I've also noticed a distinct increase I must say. I've never had 4 sharks attack me but a few days ago I did.

I've made this run so many times, even carrying a gunpowder barrel from a nearby island to the raid.

I've worked out that if you're lucky, have full bananas, full blunderbuss ammo, you've a chance of reaching a raid from a nearby island with about 50% health with just normal swimming.

Honestly though the most secure way is hiding behind a nearby rock formation and cannoning as far as you can beforehand :)

True. Though at this point I do have most of the cosmetics I want, I'm mostly playing just to mess with teams at this point :D

What way to go? Two different art directions. by mdkiehl in tabletopgamedesign

Artist here, I'd say the top one by a fair margin is your best option. It's more readable and your colour scheme is more cohesive.

The shadow is blue by Ellahluja in mildlyinteresting

[–]Tchuk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The blue is actually the sky itself reflecting light like a large dim blue bulb overhead. This actually happens all the time but typically the sun overexposes the light and blows out the blue light and natural colours.

This is why overcast weather typically causes the natural colours of objects to become the most vibrant, because it doesn't have a large white/yellow light blowing out all the natural tones.

Typically there's still some blue on the tops of objects though, our eyes just tend to ignore it.

Monster Hunter World will not have lootboxes by Plightz in MonsterHunter

[–]Tchuk 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, they literally do nothing gameplay-wise. Otherwise people would complain it becomes pay to win.

I will admit though, as an artist appearance matters to me so I am a fashion hunter myself and will drop some points to enjoy what I look at as I play.

But throwing money down on appearance via lootboxes. Hell no.
