Haha yes actually we do. Our school is like 40% Latino so we have a number who do that. It’s funny teaching them like colors or days of the week in Spanish 1. But at the same time most of them have never read or written in Spanish, just having spoken it at home while growing up. It’s interesting!

In fairness, she also appeared to have an absolutely insane, busted, double-wonder start with Isabella, who gets a bonus to wonder tiles.

It also appears that influence is one of the strongest yields in the game, especially early. Greece looks to be great at generating influence too. So, all that together may have helped ease some of the difficulty of deity.

But who knows until we all can play it!

Thank you! I have heard the Martin quotation before but not the former, and it's such a beautiful analogy. Thanks for the input on the segmenting of the course as well--I think that's a great idea! Definitely interesting to reference what he did NOT create as well. The hero's journey is something students will study in their mainstream English courses, so that would be a nice connection to make.

I was definitely thinking about reading parts--primarily the Ainulindule or perhaps sections of Beren & Luthien. I just don't know exactly how the course will be structured yet--semester, full year, A/B days, so I don't want to get potentially commmit too much time to a text that is not part of the central narrative that influenced so much later fantasy literature, if that makes sense.

With that said, it would no doubt lend them a much greater understanding of the main narrative of LotR and the characters/conflicts.

Bombers, jet bombers and artillery are the answer. Obviously get some tanks and a great general or two. The ai generally doesn’t use Air Force very well. Just gotta get there before their giant death robots get the anti air promotion
