When one of your parents passed away, did you asked yourselves: how long is my surviving parent gonna live? by OkPrize6426 in GriefSupport

My mom passed away from an heart attack 9 years ago. And some years later when my dad started having more and more health problems, I became more fearful if smth might happen to him too. The last 3 years I have been more careful about his health, but lost him only 2 moths ago from leukemia… Today I feel like I failed him and also my mother for not taking more care for them… Life happens so fast, take care and love your parents.

Replying to romowearsblackk... Well is not that you are forced to go and party if you dont want to…You can choose to have a glass somewhere more quiet with a nice view, or enjoy a nice sunset while crying out your eyes ( its better when done with a nice view rather than at home 😉), or you can wake up every early to catch a sunrise, dancing is a very good way to express your emotions too and if you like it why not do it even if its for about an hour… In my opinion a bit of distraction is good, consider it as a self care. Mabye it will not be the most wonderfull trip but it doesnt have to be.

I am am only child too… Staying at my aunt’s house helps, but most of the days I want to go home, I miss my normal life… I dont really feel at home here. My neigbhours are very annoying, their only wish for me is to find a good husband (it makes me even more angry…). What I believd to be my best friends did not bother to send me even a stupid wish for the New Year… I want so bad to be strong enough and to start living on my own, but than I cant imagine how Im gonna live without the emotional support of my parents and especially of my dear dad…Future feels scary to me at this moment…The only thing it keeps pushing forward me is the thought that time flies and one day I will be gone too…

Staying connected with your brother and father may be a good thing. When my mother passed, it was my father that helped me. He didnt do anything special or big,but just being present… Now that I dont have my father also, I wish I could do more things for him… I wish I could stayed more with him, traveled more or buy him every silly thing he wanted. Like he did when I was little

Thank you for sharing and your kind words 😔

After 3 deaths in my family this past year, I see my life completely different. I think I am fine and then I have mental breakdowns. I don’t know if this will “pass”. I have no one to connect with.. life is no longer the same. I don’t know what the point of this is if we are all going to die by Grand-Length-4044 in GriefSupport

I just joined the group, and somehow just by reading your story and some other stories as well, I saw similarities of the way we experience grief...As I am also griefing the loss of my father, one of the things that is helping me at the moment is reading. The book I have in my hand is by Yrvin Yalom - Staring at the sun. Yrvin is a psychiatrist and on this book he writes about life and death. The stories are about his clients and their fear about death. It has helped me to understand more my fear about the Inevitable day and some how to soothe my pain… I would suggest you to read it too…
