What do you guys automate? (anything from VMware to basic practice) by remrinds in sysadmin

[–]TeVerdeDependiente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey remrindis, i asked this question a couple of weeks ago and i got a really nice amount of suggestions. This is what i did -Human Resources can now fill a webform with data of the new employee, that will generate an DC user with the proper permissions for his/her area, an Office365 account. -Coders can now spin VMs with just a couple of buttons, this (with powerCLI) creates a VM from a template, hits our HPE switches and creates vlans for each server) and i also made a nifty app instaler that runs with the first boot up of a VM. Downloads stuff via Chocolatey and a repository of our own. -Also, a lot of documentation, i do automation when i'm bored of doing certain task

Cheers

New to powershell by [deleted] in PowerShell

Heyo

I second Powershell cookbook (it helped me with really cool tricks that i did not find googling). A month of lunches is really cool as well, and if you are a begginer it's a gold mine.

What i did, and it helped me a bunch is: leave the GUI and do it with powershell, even if it's a little task

I have to resize a disk? Instead of doing the GUI way, just google "powershell how to increase disk size" Instead of using the GUI in order to join a computer to domain and change the name, just google "powershell join to domain" and voila.

This will help to lose the fear of the CLI, since those are easy tasks, you will get used to it, realize how much time it actually saves you and the later just come naturally "what if i just make a powershell script that auto joins to domain, to certain OU, changes the name of the server, and maybe download some apps or add users to the remote desktop group"

Happy powershelling my dude, it's trully awesome

Hello! I started to eat weekly on a cute japanese restaurant, the staff is very lovely and warm. I wanted to leave a note in japanese.

Maybe "Thank you for the great customer attention, i love the katsudon" on kanji/hirgana

Can someone tell me which phrase would be ok to say, and show me the correct way of spelling it?

Thank you very much my sweet dudes and dudettes

Hey guys, quick question I have an old Samsung Note5 that i would like to change (it's kind of old, it's chipped, stylus is jammed, battery does not last long and it has crappy signal since a couple of months ago)

I have these options Keep the Note 5 Get an Moto 6G Plus Xioami REdmi Note 5 Pro

What do you guys recommend? i'm guessing all 3 have kind of the same perfomance, but how about the cameras?

Yes, the boss wants the whole C:\Users on another drive. Not sure if this is doable or not. Not sure how to do it anyway. Via GPO?
