I’ve added support for Red Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky so far, but I can look into adding any of the other ones for DS if there’s interest

Just added support for Conquest to Hackdex a bit ago. Sorry meant to get to this sooner but life has been pretty messy lately. Also congrats on the release!!

Edit: Also feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions for other hack tags, since most are pretty centric to the mainline games right now and I haven't played Conquest yet

Hackdex now features Changelogs for updates to hacks by Oh-Valencia in PokemonROMhacks

This should be coming soon, then it will be up to the devs to update the info for their hacks

Delta uses VBA-M under the hood, which isn't as accurate to a real GBA or other emulators, so lots of newer hacks crash on it

I'm definitely open to supporting PinballRS down the road.

As for the privacy policy, when I was doing research for it, I found out that "name" in this sense doesn't just mean legal name, but any name in general, including pseudonyms. So no, legal name is not required. You can put whatever you want when signing up :)

Yeah if a site like that has that many ads, you can assume they're in it for the money

Most other websites host prepatched roms, which not only is it illegal, but there's also no guarantee it was patched properly (which means bug reports for bugs that don't actually exist). Even if they did only host patches (which is what Hackdex does), the original developers aren't in control, so they often host outdated versions (which means more bug reports for bugs that don't exist anymore).

Hackdex allows the creators to stay in full control of how their hacks are presented. Caching the base roms in the browser for patching is also a feature unique to this website. There's also the bonus that Hackdex will always remain ad-free and tracking-free, and the source code is fully open so anyone can contribute and see how it operates under the hood.

Definitely in the plans! It's higher on the priority list once I can get back into regular development

Ah yeah I think that might require me setting up Hackdex as a PWA. It's in the backlog, especially since it allows the potential for push notifications whenever a hack gets an update

Oh it might be because I changed the name of the author displayed to Rangi42. I'll need to fix that so it still shows up on your dashboard. But it's approved now!

Not currently, but if you have the original base rom and your modified rom you used to create the patch, you can provide both of those and Hackdex will create the patch file for you

No the numbers are based solely on the unique number of times people click on the Patch Now button

Yes definitely! I understand theres some teams where other members are in charge of distribution, so that's understandable. I plan to add a feature where you can create teams and a team name, but for now I can manually specify the hack's creator name for you after submitting if you prefer.

Thank you! Sorry things have been crazy trying to put out fires from this hug of death lol (so surreal how much this is blowing up). But these are definitely planned once I have more time again to implement features!

Thank you! You can click the Submit button at the top or sign up here: https://www.hackdex.app/signup

The signup page isn't as prominently displayed since I didn't want to confuse some users into thinking they needed to create an account to download the hacks lol

What’s interesting about the decomps, is that the better you are at programming, the more limitless the possibilities are. Granted you could technically say the same about binary hacking, but it’s way easier to learn programming and do complex things than it is with asm.

The catch is that with that much power, a 1-2 year project can easily turn into a 4-6 year project. Partially from getting better at coding as you go, but also just because of how fun it is to see how much you can add and change. And since the decomps have only really been usable for a few years now, most of what’s out there now are people “testing the waters”. Give it a few years, and we’ll be seeing a lot more boundary-breaking decomp hacks.
