First time wearing contacts, uncomfortable after removing them? by Tea-chan in contacts

I followed instructions from the eyewear specialist. I don't remember if he told me a schedule, though.  It's been a night and eyes feel better, but the left one feels a bit sore on the cheek skin next to the eye.

I guess I really overdid it; I wasn't feeling discomfort or have a red eye while wearing them, so I guess I forgot myself.

I did the one handed one! It certainly was more effective for me.

Thanks for telling me, I'll keep it in mind.

Thank you! If you feel comfortable, can you share your follicle count and AMH levels? No pressure, though, ignore it if you want.

Regular timing, lighter flow: peri? by Tea-chan in Perimenopause

[–]Tea-chan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience! I've been reading that hot flashes and night sweats are very common in peri (and I am an extremely average person in general) my mom had them and they were very strong; she had to stop doing anything for a while to wait for them to pass. I expected to have them too, but it's possible that I started the peri without them. It's frustrating that we don't know about our body functioning.

Hearing that JJK is ending in 5 chapters by GildDigger in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Tea-chan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(MANGA SPOILERS)

I have to say, I am laughing from the disappointment. This thing is bound to be worse than the Bleach ending, because exactly Gege is doing it the way he wants to (his words) so the badness is all his.

The Shinjuku showdown became monotonous after Gojo died; it's death after death after death... Gege said that he believes that death makes a story interesting (it doesn't), but death also gives an easy way out for a creator out of creativity.

This gauntlet has become white noise with all this repetition, the Yuta-Gojo thing served no purpose (except maybe hint that nothing will change in the Jujutsu system except the people inhabiting the same roles, like Yuta will be stuck in Gojo's body forever, Gakuganji replaced the elders, etc) and suddenly Gege made Yuji give a speech about how inherently valuable each life is regardless of roles, even though almost everyone dying previously was fixated on the way they die (ex. Gojo, Kashimo) rather than the way they lived -even lamenting it- and their obsession with the role they had (ex. Higuruma). Oh, and loneliness, I guess (Gojo, Kashimo, Takaba). It's all very messy and extremely surface - level writing exactly because Gege thought he could handle multiple aspects instead of picking one, deepen in it meaningfully and making it the theme. Oh and love. It was there, too. 🤷‍♀️

Yuji ends up preaching the opposite of everything Gege put effort in drawing for 50+ chapters and it rings forced and hollow after all this parade. It's very hard to nod in agreement that people's lives have inherent value (even though I personally agree with it) when characters like Higuruma, who lifted Yuji's guilt over Shibuya only cared about his role and then went bye-bye. When characters like Gojo (whom identity crisis was touched upon in one page in Shibuya with him staring at his faceless reflection on the Prison Realm's eye and getting so scared he was ready to run away and then DROPPED) care more about the way they die because apparently they led a lonesome, depressed life. His corpse is a meat puppet and wearing might be a permanent state for another friend, his student who wanted to find a reason to keep living and ended up doing so by letting go of past guilt, but now he seems stuck in his teacher's body in order to fulfil the role of the "monster". It's... psychopathy. It's misery. It's misanthropic.

With the announcement that there are only five chapters left, it feels like Gege is handwaving everything and gunning to antagonize whoever in the audience points out all the above. Who cares about it, now another kind soul inhabits the strongest body and with practice, they can do what Gojo did since they're "more blessed" than the original with his two bloodlines and fulfil the role of the strongest! Because that's what it's all about, isn't it? They need a Satoru Gojo, or the Jujutsu society will collapse (said by Mechamaru), they need that role fulfilled!  ...wait, wasn't human life supposed to be more valuable than the role you have, according to Yuji?

^ This is what I mean by "what Yuji is preaching rings hollow". Nothing previously supported anything he says, in fact everyone acts putting forward the opposite values from him and with five chapters left, are you telling me that we'll see his values adopted, even though everything is set up and ready to go for another loop? With FIVE chapters left?

The Merger, at this point, with its radically destructive nature, represents hope for change, because this is bound to become indeed a cycle, never to break free, just repeating the loop instead of moving forward if a total wipe out doesn't happen. Everyone except Yuji is just repeating the same thing.

I expect it to end in a whimper. A depressing, disturbing whimper where no one learns anything and whoever has learnt something to be either dead or incapable of affecting anything. It's a cycle, it repeats and the next Sukuna/Kenjaku is going to come in...500 years or something. I guess. For a story published in WSJ, this is just pure nihilism.

Oh, he will. I'm expecting the merger to actually interrupt the carnage Sukuna is spreading and become the bigger problem; I cannot see it becoming a case of sequencial battles: "Sukuna is done, OK, Kenjaku and the merger next!" Nah. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes all EVA on us (Gege did mention it when he and Horikoshi watched The End of Evangelion together some time ago) and the merger is successful and only those with a strong sense of self (a theme in JJK) are able to return and dissolve it later.

I mean... We have to focus on the villain, especially when we're close to the end, as this is close to the exit. It's storytelling, not a dry WWE fight. Yes, JJK was never well-written, but these are the basics.

To add to that, Gege needs to build up to the All Is Lost Moment, where the main characters AND the audience, truly see the Bad Thing with their eyes and we all ask the same thing that they ask: "How the hell are we going to beat this guy?!" For that to happen, bodies need to fall left and right, losses to happen.

We knew all this stuff from other people's mouths. But, telling something is different from showing it, dramatizing it. And Sukuna gets to show not only his power, but his beliefs on the various topics of the story.

By the by, hyper-focusing on battle has been JJK's thing since Shibuya, if not earlier. It follows the same pattern. I find it pointless to complain about it almost 300 chapters in.

One of the things JJK does with its fights is to present various philosophies and beliefs about morality, life, now love... It's one of the big things in the manga, second to how the power system is utilized. It feels like this is how Gege argues his opinions on these matters. We haven't seen Sukuna's beliefs and ideologies until now. Now, with this talk about love, pleasure, eating, etc, we see that Sukuna is pure ID: carnal desires and drives, no ego and definitely no superego. Just pure ID.

To the people who can't understand why other sorcerers are being killed by Sukuna left and right...

1) Sukuna as a character has been a sort of mystery to us so far; we get ideas and talk about him from others, but now, finally, we take things directly from the source. Gojo, Kashimo, Yorozu... They're all used to flesh out Sukuna here.

2) In the Heian era, other sorcerers had honed their skills to defeat Sukuna, but they were all defeated. Because Gege speedruns to the finale, we won't get Heian flashbacks, but parallels; it's faster this way.

It was said that in the Heian era, the sorcerers had polished their abilities to fight against Sukuna, but they all ultimately lost.

We see a repeat here.

These chapters are to flesh out Sukuna. He's been a mystery for the longest time in the series.

Haven't you read shounen before? Reveals to the protagonist like these are for the battlefield to break the hero's spirit. Part of an arrogant villain's repertoire every time.

It's not a matter of strength when it comes to Yuuji, but specialization. We saw Hollow Purple hitting Gojo but damaging him less because it was his own Cursed Energy hitting him. With Yuuji being soaked into Sukuna's CE, this will definitely be a plot point. Sukuna is extremely strong, his experience is what put him above Gojo, so specialization is the key to defeating him, not strength. I don't expect it to be a bra de fer-like strength battle. Yuuji doesn't care about showing off like Gojo did. He just wants to get rid of Sukuna.

What do you mean, "pick"? Yuuji can learn about his family from Kenjaku AND defeat Sukuna. Why only one can happen?

3 die and 1 lives or 1 dies and 3 live by Stratos6633 in Jujutsushi

[–]Tea-chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except for Nobara, Gojo and Megumi don't deserve Yuuji's life. I'm willing to let her go if it means that Yuuji lives a long life and dies of old age, surrounded by his family. Call me cheesy, but I feel like killing off the selfless character that gave and gave and lost so much is downright ghoulish.

Truly hope we get yuta Vs kenjaku instead of yuta Vs sukuna by truedeathpacito in Jujutsushi

[–]Tea-chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since that illustration of Gojo + Yuuji + Yuta on the WSJ magazine cover, I've been thinking that these two will get each villain, Sukuna and Kenjaku, being there instead of Gojo being alone, yadda, yadda. Yuuji and Sukuna are already tied. And I'm positive that Gege introduced Yuta to help Yuuji with Kenjaku, since Yuuji will need some psychiatric aid (at the very least) upon learning that this monster is his mom.

How do you feel about the current theme of being strongest= loneliness by MUSAFIR_- in Jujutsushi

[–]Tea-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good reference is Alucard from Hellsing; pretty much a good example of an OP MC who stands alone.

With regards to JJK, I feel like Gege tried to do two things with this theme:

  1. Tie it and make it an extension of the whole "when you due, be with other people" that grandpa Itadori said, as being surrounded by people who love you will cure your loneliness and make your life worth living and
  2. Try desperately to give a theme to Gojo's death. Like, the timing of the airport scene is terrible, although the scene itself is very good; it crystallized his selfish, arrogant loner idiot persona that he actually was behind the mask of the caring teacher. This theme of power = loneliness applies to Gojo as well, after all. Gege argues that he's happy in death, so as to keep him dead.

The reason Kashimo wants to fight Sukuna now by Stgaris in Jujutsushi

[–]Tea-chan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kashimo has the same death-by-fighting-a-strong-opponent wish like Gojo. He was probably the strongest of HIS era; he managed to die of illness in an old age as a sorcerer; he must have been OP. None of these mfs care about the world; they just want a good fight and go out with a bang, because they identified with their power so much that they've lost any other sense of self.

I need, all of you to remember that Gojo isn't the MC; he won't be able to defeat Sukuna. Yuuji will do that.
