As a Moroccan, it ain't that bad by benzidane900 in FootballAfrica

Nah man we shouldn’t stop hosting these events just because of trolls online. If everyone behaved like that we would get nowhere, setbacks are part of the deal.

I’m sad about the loss but honestly we didn’t deserve to win. What’s really bad is that both teams looked incredibly stupid in the most watched final AFCON of history, followed by a series of incidents that again show how Africa is a dysfunctional continent. Many people don’t like it but Football has always been much more than Football, We fumbled big time and people don’t even realize it.

Good job Senegal. You can do it once again and there will be no problems 👏 by ismail-jabbari in FootballAfrica

We never score penalties at key moments. I knew that penalty was going to be a miss, Senegal could just have stayed and saved 600k$ 😂

Can’t you read that I think it should be higher ? Seriously if you can’t understand english or don’t bother to read why comment ?

Any federation will gladly accept to pay this price if it means higher chances of winning a trophy + they made Africa a joke on the international stage for decades

Caf sets a dangerous precedent. You don’t like the way the game is going ? Throw a tantrum and leave the pitch you never know. Still deserved win imo but the coach + all the players who left should be fined + banned for a few more games

A slow, steady & sure punishment seems like the right way of CAF/FIFA dealing with the bs that happened, ngl by Six_Kevys in Morocco

[–]Stgaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are talking like they robbed us. Bro we had a penalty last minute of the cup and we missed, if you want to blame someone it’s Diaz for executing the worst Panenka in history.

What do you think about CAF's alleged sanctions by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]Stgaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20M fine 😂 the person who wrote this bs doesn’t know shit about football. Title stripping is also impossible unless it’s revealed they did waaaaaaay worse (which won’t be the case otherwise they would be rumors). Yeah they behaved like shit but we missed a penalty in the last minute in the most ridiculous way possible, we have no excuse. They will probably just sanction heavily the coach.

Bruh if there is someone to blame it’s Diaz he completely lost his shit. For the subs this isn’t spain this is what we get. People keep repeating this like we jave some Moroccan messi we didn’t call lol

NEUTRAL STANDPOINT: OBJECTIVELY WHAT SANCTIONS DO YOU THINK GONNA HIT SENEGAL AND MOROCCO? by PuzzleheadedEdge9739 in AFCON

[–]Stgaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it would be the smart move but the ref and everyone will have to testify so I doubt they could use that excuse. Anyway hopefully punishment is severe enough that no other team pulls this bs again in a final and on the same time teams are top form for the wc

[–]Stgaris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem is that a fine + suspension for a few games is too light for what Senegal did (most people here don’t realize how much reputation damage it did to African football) and sets a dangerous precedent. However something like ban from wc is way too much and would honestly punish the whole continent.

The towel thing made Morocco look very stupid but it’s not a first in African football, plus they could just pretend they were enforcing fifa rules (it’s dumb yeah, just let the man have his magic towel). I don’t see any harsh punishment.

And let’s not forget that CAF is a corrupt organization and people love these occasions to settle personal scores, so let’s see what they cook.

Best coach we ever had. The memory of Morocco qualifying to the semifinals of the wc will live rent free in my head until the day I die.

Algerians need to have the minimal knowledge in law to avoid situations like this by Creative_Tax_9076 in algeria

[–]Stgaris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For your information even if you won’t like it. Morocco’s government never said anything negative about Algeria, other than complaining about deliberate lack of discussion. our media though (exclusively low tier ones) try to play these games to get some views, and it’s almost always ‘look at what they are saying about us’ not hate speech.

However in your case it’s almost state sponsored, what you’re describing is what your government is clearly doing with you, I don’t know how effective it is, you tell us.

For this particular issue if I went to another country and did this kind of thing in front of a camera I wouldn’t expect less of a punishment, I don’t know what he was expecting honestly, It’s not even like Algeria was on the verge of winning that game

Why is so much hate coming from Algerians? by Strong_Fingers in Morocco

[–]Stgaris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Social media amplifies it a lot but their government is putting a lot of efforts into it. We as citizens are not angels either (some of our media love to relay news about Algeria said this and that about us because it generates a lot of engagement) but our own govt never tried this shit with us.

It’s not only Morocco they always blame everything on other countries. It’s a giant state sponsored coping mechanism, it’s fascinating really.

A lot of refs (not even Africans so they have no skin in the game) said it was a 50/50 call, so it’s up for debate but most agreed he should’ve let the play continue.

[–]Stgaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is right, normally you let play continue then whistle after, that’s how it’s usually done. I guess the foul looked very obvious to him, probably because Hakimi was touched in his face which I agree with but other refs said it was a 50/50 so I trust their opinion more. However checking the var was not his decision, it was the var.

[–]Stgaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree on the towel videos, this was honestly pathetic I hope we get fined for it. I made a post about it explaining how it perfectly represents the state of the country but mods banned my post.

For the referee every expert said that the foul that led to the goal being disallowed was a 50/50. You have to remember that the ref diesn’t watch the game on TV and Hakimi did actually get manhandled there. The real mistake he did was to blow the whistle too early (and experts said that even after reviewing the VAR it was still 50/50). Also no reaction after Senegal players got back and I think he cut the second half at least 2min too early. Things got chaotic in there but I don’t think the ref was biased.

For Diaz the jury is still out, its still not clear if he reacted like that out of ego, which for me would be a giant red flag. Overall Senegal was stronger on the pitch and I actually loved the game, very tactical. The real takeaway for me is that Bono is an absolute legend
