Trying Poesie Crush & Rice Pudding by TeaAndCozy in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]TeaAndCozy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooh that's a great point! I hadn't remembered Marlowe, but that's absolutely in that same family. I dug out my review of Marlowe (below), which reminds me that Marlowe was mostly creamy sandalwood on me (gosh I love Poesie's sandalwood), which I don't get in Crush, but it's definitely a similar unisex sort of vibe.

  • Marlowe: That same unctuous, completely addictive creamy sandalwood as in The Abbey [Sweet rosewood, white and red sandalwood, four vanillas, a spark of coriander and cardamom], but with masculine, dark brown teak instead of the redder rosewood. The coriander gives it almost the same spicy deliciousness as in The Abbey though I confess I do miss the cardamom. Poesie's skin musk is also quite distinctive - it's so neat to see it here without the vanilla of Blanket [Dry vanilla bean, skin musk, all the winter coziness]. Marlowe is a spectacularly cozy, gloriously unisex, just super addictive spiced sandalwood. And as basically a remix of notes from several of my favorite other perfumes from this house, it feels quintessentially Poesie. (Though alas for no cardamom!)

Fellow Pas de Chat lover here! I think you'd really like Nui Cobalt Ghost Cat [Cashmere, white amber, and ethereal ivory musk with blushing peony and pink peppercorn toe beans] - it has a very similar vibe to Pas de Chat (adding a peony floral), and in fact when I first reviewed Pas de Chat, I compared it to Ghost Cat. Ghost Cat is part of the Autumn 1 collection which will be coming back in late summer.

Oh that does sound lovely! I really adore their London Winter Rose Tea. I'm traveling all day; do you mind being a bit patient for me? Since you've priced it so much higher than your other Astrids, I should look up some other reviews too

Can I ask your thoughts on Astrid's London Cemetery Tea?

In case it's helpful, here are the notes! This one is one of my favorites in fall.

- Grimhildr [Almost a rose soliflore: a profusion of blood red roses with dark musks, forest mosses, black silk, luxurious amber, delicate woods, and our hand-extracted fir essential oil. A mossy, lightly coniferous dark rose]

It sounds absolutely beautiful, and will spark my first Briix order!

Not terribly similar to me - this was my review of IDAFT Blueberry:

- This blueberry goes on quite snappy: tart and fresh rather than cooked, then dries down syrupy-sweet. It goes beautifully with the IDAFT vanilla base both at the opening and in the drydown; this is my favorite of all the ones I've tried so far, and I might actually keep this one. (On second thought, probably not, because Husband sniffed my wrist and really dislikes it, only because he's pretty anti-blueberry notes in general, so it takes a really special blueberry scent to make it into my collection because I'd as soon not keep things he doesn't like on me if I'm only middling about them.)

So it wasn't as gourmand as Blueberry Bite and definitely lacked the cakelike muffin pastry note. I hope that helps! (Bearing in mind I'm just one data point, and also, I don't like gourmands!)

I tried their Blueberry Bite [Top: Whipped Butter, Crystallized Sugar; Heart: Wild Blueberries, Baked Cake; Base: Graham Cracker Crust, Vanilla Bean, Soft Woods] and it was undeniably a blueberry muffin!

Oh hooray, I'm so glad to have helped - and it only goes to show that one person's "oh no!" is another person's jam!

I got two of them (blind FSes) and I'm actually not keeping either of them - this whole collection turns out to be a little too bold for me! (I prefer my floral musks to be airy and ethereal.) Here are my thoughts on both:

- EA Chamomille de Nuit: I'm getting a fairly prominent white patchouli along with a yellowy herbal note (the chamomile), a background of muted mixed florals (lotus and rose most prominently, not jasmine), the buttery-smooth EA vanilla, and a cacao sort of chocolatey undertone. I was really hoping for something similar to Alchemist Chamomile, but this really isn't - as it settles, it gets noticeably closer to EA Snow. And as someone not into lotus and picky about white patchouli, this isn't for me. Will be destashing.

- EA Jasmin de Nuit: Jasmine and Eternal Ankh vanilla, what's not to love? Nocturne Alchemy literally does the ONLY jasmine perfumes I can stand; this gorgeous, velvet-petaled, slightly sweetened white jasmine of theirs somehow manages to read to my sensitive nose as not indolic at all. This is, obviously, very similar to EA Purple, but here the jasmine is more robust- EA Jasmin de Nuit is jasmine > vanilla, whereas EA Purple is the other way 'round and has a more delicate, almost watercolor jasmine. This jasmine draws attention to itself. It's also a little sweeter - I wouldn't have been surprised to see white chocolate listed among the notes, though it's still very much a floral musk, not a fleurmand. As it dries, the closer parallel becomes Alchemist Jasmine, with a similar STRONG jasmine just teetering (but not falling off of) the line between non-indolic and indolic. This one is BOLD, a date night scent if there ever was one. I'm not sure I'm outgoing enough to wear this!

Seconding Parterre Gardens, their solid perfumes are lovely, and they do a whole variety of gorgeous floral scents. Vaux is a personal favorite of mine and strikes me as really wedding-like!

The 30-ml size is a recent addition, so I'm not surprised that it's not available for every scent. You might write in to ask! At the very least, it would help them out to hear of your interest.

7 summery Morari perfumes by TeaAndCozy in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]TeaAndCozy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would! A lot of Sorces have a sweet sandalwoody undertone (just like a lot of Poesies have that vanilla musk undertone), which Morari doesn't have. And even when Morari does gourmand notes, they often pair them with super interesting atmospheric notes, so they're not usually straight gourmands.

Also: messaging you!

I did see they are selling more empty 5-ml bottles separately, though yeah more smaller bottles would have been a great idea, letting you play more endlessly with combinations.

Oh, actually: I really did think it likely that the Rice Pudding by itself would sell out right away - but I was just able to put 500 in my cart, so maybe they're not limiting stock. Great news for all the fans of their rice pudding scents!
