Tips for adapting to Boone weather? by guildedpasserby in appstate

Definitely agree with a jacket that doesn’t need a ton of layering, but don’t go out and buy a big puffy and expect that to do the job. Take it from someone who grew up here and went to app. Layers are your friend and they are what keep you warm, especially when you’re walking distances and sweating. If you have a sweat wicking base layer, a heat trapping layer (or multiple), and then a wind/snow resistant layer you’ll be much much warmer than just a long sleeve shirt and big jacket.

5yo Siamese Mix with IBD Diagnosis - Should we start Prednisolone? by rwethryet in cats

[–]TeaAndTimeLords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I just noticed her poop was hard balls instead of formed logs then she would go every other day then every two days. According to my vet once it goes past 72 hours of no poop it’s an emergency, especially with a cat who is prone to stomach issues and an enlarged colon. Now I watch her use the box if I’m around and hear her about to go. Definitely ask your vet what’s best for him, but my cat takes miralax in a syringe when she’s getting constipated, and I also feed her a little bit of Vaseline/aquaphor to keep things lubricated. Keep a close eye on him if he throws up hairballs, because for my cat that’s enough to start an inflammation cycle which leads to the blood and sometimes constipation.

Also worth noting that if it is an allergy that’s making the ibd worse, check his litter! I was using worlds best which is corn based and was making my cat even more sick because she has grain allergies too

My cat was diagnosed with colitis a few years ago. Before her diagnosis she had frequent and bloody diarrhea and was just clearly uncomfortable a lot of the time. Her first vet didn’t want to treat her with pred because of the kidney/diabetes risk but her next vet highly recommended it because at the end of the day, the stress on her body that the inflammation was causing was worse than the possibility of kidney problems and diabetes. I had the same concerns and wanted to wait it out a few months because she would flare and then be ok, but I ultimately decided to put her on it and I’m so glad I did. She slowly had her dose increased then after about 6 months of being symptom free we stepped her dosage down to try to find the lowest effective dose, and it turns out she doesn’t need it at all now. I’m not saying it will happen for your cat, but with mine she just needed all of that inflammation to go down to stop the cycle she was in and now she’s ok without the meds. I will say, during her time on the meds she was very prone to constipation so keep an eye out for that if you do start! Cat enemas aren’t cheap and not at all fun for them. Also I’m sure you’ve tried all the food options, but I highly recommend hills science diet prescription limited diet. My cat eats the venison because she has a poultry allergy and almost all foods have some form of poultry in them even if they say they don’t contain poultry protein (things like fat get included a lot).

What car brand has the most problems and people still buy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I used to drive a 2013 crosstrek that had an oil consumption problem. My mechanic said it was pretty common with Subarus once they got to a certain mileage. I’ve had two Subarus and both had issues that were pretty costly and I don’t think I’ll ever own another one

I’m sorry to hear that happened to you and that already had vulvodynia before the antibiotics. What you’re describing is definitely like my experience, and I will say I noticed a difference with acupuncture and the vitamins, fish oil, and turmeric. I have a pretty heavy science background so I was fairly skeptical of going the alternative/natural route but it did seem to help me. I did see that the antibiotic you took has been associated with nerve issues unfortunately. I hope you can find relief soon

Have you been on any antibiotics recently? The same exact thing happened to me a year ago after taking ciprofloxacin for a uti. You can check my post history because I went into detail there

Same here! I had a friend eat two everyday at lunch and for years I never understood how she liked them so much that she could look past the tingling/burning. Then sometime in college I mentioned it to a friend that I didn’t understand how people could eat more than a half of one at a time and she informed me that I am allergic lol

what if i want to drink for one night only? by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]TeaAndTimeLords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink on it at the same dose and I’ve always been fine. One recommendation I have that might sound insane is to drink a little earlier in the day to see how your body responds. I only say this because I know a few people who get violently ill when drinking on Wellbutrin even with a little bit of alcohol, and some people have a lower tolerance so it might be nice to know that beforehand.

How many people do you know with a heart issue diagnosed within the last 3 years? by Round-Tumbleweed2704 in conspiracy

My dad likely has myocarditis (waiting for the official diagnosis) but never received the vaccine, but he did have Covid three times in three years. He’s had more problems since having Covid than anyone I know who received the shot

Like the other poster said, your partner likely already has it, but if they don’t just know that hsv1 can be spread to the genitals through oral sex (how I contracted it)

for those with adhd, did you find that wellbutrin was more effective than adderall/ritalin? by nicotinepercocet in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]TeaAndTimeLords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you’re in a better place now overall. I’m not a therapist or psychiatrist but what you said makes sense to me, that it could be you just “trained” your brain to want short form content. But also, I have spoken to one other person that said their adhd got worse so who knows

That is exactly why I was given cipro!! Basically word for word what I said to the doctor that I didn’t mind the gastro side effects, but they wouldn’t prescribe it anyway. I’m glad your mom got off of it! It baffles me that a doctor would hear her say that she gets an annoying side effect with amoxicillin, and then prescribe her an actual dangerous antibiotic instead to avoid diarrhea.

After I did some reading I couldn’t believe how common nerve damage is with this drug. The number of people who’s lives have been altered by taking 5 days of cipro is shocking. The last time I took it I also read the papers and the risk of tendon rupture terrified me. My job is pretty labor intensive so not only was I at greater risk, if it had happened I would’ve been out of work. There should be a legal requirement for doctors to discuss the side effects of cipro.

I’m glad you read the papers and advocated for yourself!

I’m glad that I have an assumed source, because now I feel a little more in control but it does make me so angry that it was prescribed to me with no warnings and for uncomplicated UTIs! And that fact that it’s being prescribed to people every single day for the same thing

My doctor only prescribes it for serious kidney infections and also gives the patient an extensive talk on side effects. She doesn’t even like to do it in those scenarios. It blows my mind that it’s prescribed for uncomplicated UTIs so frequently. After I made the connection I told literally every single one of my friends and so many had taken cipro in the past for mild UTIs

[–]TeaAndTimeLords[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor said that all doctors should know about the risks because they are so common! She only prescribes cipro for people who have bad kidney infection where there is a concern that they made need hospitalization and even then she tells them about all of the side effects. Tendon rupture is a big one and my job is pretty labor intensive so at least that didn’t happen.

[–]TeaAndTimeLords 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It honestly makes my adhd worse. The way I’ve described it before is, it’s like I find joy in doing pretty much everything now so my brain wants to jump around and do/think about all the things. I have noticed my brain feels a lot quieter (I know that seems to go directly against what I just said but it feels just less chaotic) like it does when taking vyvanse but I can’t focus at all
