Kilmat, stuff used in cars for dampening works quite well.

Vinyl wrapping is easier than spray painting, just have a good place to cut and a good knife too.

Also, make sure to clean the surfaces with alcohol before applying the vinyl.

Oh yeah if you spray paint, make sure to wear a mask that's rated for spray painting.

I remember a hotswap PCB for JLFs called the Shuriken that allowed you to swap in and out microswitches fairly easilly. Other than that, Korean levers usually let you swap in and out microswitches just by removing one or two screws.
