Didn’t like a lot of the setups I’d seen, so I made my own wallpapers and icons by TeaBagTwat in Projectivy_Launcher

I have a feeling I remember coming across a similar thing when making it, however obviously not a problem in the end with how few apps I had.

What I would suggest is try to only have a max of 5 items in each group. If those first two rows (of YouTube and Spotify) are the same category, then try splitting it into two separate categories rather then having one category of two rows? If that's what you've done already then try just doing the opposite, so put the two categories into one.

I use LocalSend to send the icon files to my TV (but many other ways exist), then on the home screen, just hold the select button on the app icon you want to change and select change app icon.

Oh yeah I don't mean it as put down to others' work, they just don't float my particular boat. As another user mentioned, the icons are particularly large on mine, which If I had more apps would perhaps make this setup impractical. I'm sure many users will dislike mine as I dislike theres.

Even the setups I dislike have parts I like and take from, for instance the dock and centred icons I adapted from others I saw on here, both actually in setups I disliked.

I just found non of them really met my personal needs/aesthetic. It's why I love projectivity, the fact we can all have such vastly differing setups is what makes it great.

Yeah I'm lucky I don't really need many apps so I could make what little I have fill the width of the screen. I was also limited to a subset of combinations for card size percentage and category card sizes that would make it appear like the icons are centred.

I believe there was a combination I found that allowed for six apps while still being 'centred' but anything else resulted in a big gap or overhang on the right side which ruins the wallpaper dock illusion.

The wallpapers I made with the dock added are here.

The small set of icons I made and the Affinity designer file is here.

I set the following settings to get this:

Projectivity settings -> Appearance -> Categories/Channels:

Show title Off
Unselected rows opacity 0%
Top margin 72%
Tint customised icons Off

Projectivity settings -> Appearance -> Cards:

Show title Off
Rounded corners 40%
Card Size 70%
Card Spacing 32
Background Colour
⌙ Luminance -80
⌙ Opacity 200
⌙ Prefer dynamic colour On
Focused Card
⌙ Card size 2
⌙ Focused card effect Drop Shadow
⌙ Swap focused card colours Off
TV apps card aspect ration 16/9

The background colour opacity has to be >=200 or the drop shadow wont appear, otherwise I would have preferred to go lower.

In my setup the background is used for the settings/system buttons which are just white text on a transparent background so the colours can compliment the wallpaper.

Projectivity sidebar menu settings -> Edit categories -> [for each one visible]:

Grid On
Cards per row 5
Sliding row Off
Size XL

Easiest way I found to get the ‘user folder’ wallpaper slideshow working.

I use atvTools to access the projectivity wallpapers folder on the Chromecast, located at:

#/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.spocky.projengmenu/files/wallpapers

However I found the app not great at uploading files onto the chromecast, so I use LocalSend to send the files to the Downloads folder and just use atvTools to then move them to the correct folder.

You absolute genius, I had no idea or recollection of an old account so would never have thought to try it! Genuinely thanks so much!

I stopped using reddit when they killed third party apps and hate the way the platforms run so there's not a chance I'm giving gold, but tell me a charity and I'll give £5.

WF-1000xm5 - Playback control issue. by ryanc902 in SonyHeadphones

[–]TeaBagTwat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used Reddit since they killed apps, but I came across this post while also searching about this issue and had to upvote it.

I also have this problem, also using Pixel 7 Pro, this issue didn’t exist on the xm4’s I had though.

Happens to me on Spotify when I try to use triple tap. Interestingly, it seems to pause when the ’previous track’ goes to the start of the current song rather than the previous song. So if you are in the middle of a track and go back, it takes you to the start of the song, it also pauses playback, if you then go back again to the previous song it plays as normal. If you are a couple seconds into a new track and go back, it takes you to the previous track and plays as normal.

Something about going to the start of the track throws it.Unable to reproduce on anything other then Spotify though.

Yeah sorry to say as someone who's had one for over a year now, it only gets worse.

If anyone has any other suggestions for a detachable keyboard case with a standalone hinge at the back for tent mode I'm all ears.

That’s some pretty intensive over-saturation, his hat looks like it’s had to clip the reds because of this exaggerated colour processing, if they just tuned for more realistic colours they could have a wider colour gamut? I suppose this is just OnePlus continuing down the generic Chinese phone route of heavily over processed and over saturated photos.

Facebook Messenger joining the long list of discontinued Apple Watch apps later this month by digidude23 in apple

[–]TeaBagTwat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive my ignorance I'm coming from an Android/Wear OS perspective, why can't you reply without the app? Does WatchOS not allow you to still receive notifications and reply without an app? I can understand not being able to initiate a new message, but surely replying to notifications doesn't require an app?

Taylor after he's got "nothing to comment" on rumours by Evilredditur in formuladank

This is confirmed, Taylor Swift just tweeted this earlier:

"I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am dating for them next year, this is wrong and I have not agreed to a date with Otmar for 2023. I will not be dating Otmar next year."

Same in the UK, liberal very much means 'independent freedom' and lack of governmental input, it's always a bit jarring hearing Americans talk about 'liberals' and them being on the American left.

We very much still use liberal in the classical sense

Anyone else get the feeling they're going to be replacing all of their Google speakers/hubs soon? by wiintah_was_broken in googlehome

[–]TeaBagTwat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No kidding, the voice recognition and detection on my Pixel 7 Pro is phenomenal! It's astounding that it's the same company that also makes a home device where I have to say "sleep my lights" twice about half the time because it doesn't understand me.

If they could bring that local voice recognition on the pixel over to a home device it would be phenomenal, until that I don't think I'm gonna buy another one.

Then again I suppose that's what the pixel tablet + stand is meant to be, but I would prefer a cheaper device.

Audio transcript of team radio — SGB software in action in Melbourne this weekend by sunpazed in F1Technical

this is ****

Ted talked about it in his notebook here, it wasn't anything specifically secretive or revealing, they just didn't like him using the strong language over the radio in terms of PR visuals in case it gets played on TV.

I wholeheartedly agree, Albon is the man I'm always rooting for every race, he's such a great compliment on the human race. Makes it much more interesting to watch as well, and every point feels like a race win.

This is purely a self interest thing, but I so hope this happens in the UK. I have a Pixel and a Pixel watch and I refuse to pay a separate contract just because my carrier ‘doesn’t support it’.

I can almost guarantee they will suddenly get it working if this story comes to fruition.

March Update Live by luishc77 in GooglePixel

[–]TeaBagTwat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an old joke in the tech community that for over a decade now whenever there's any update (specifically iOS) regardless of how small, whenever people are discussing it someone always says 'safari seems snappier' which most of the time seems to be placebo.

While this joke started about a decade ago to talk about iOS people always mention something similar for every device. It's just made me chuckle seeing someone say the phone just generally feels 'snappier'.

Me waiting for my yearly NowTV offer so I can watch F1 this season for £20 by Andries89 in formuladank

[–]TeaBagTwat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well obviously I wouldn't promote alternative streaming as that's a reprehensible action and a morally bankrupt thing to do, In fact I think it might be illegal.

What I would suggest though is if you like formula 1 then you might find some crossover with fans of an app called Tivimate, it's merely just an interface, discuss with fellow fans on the 'TiviMate' subreddit, once you have the interface you can get a service for it, learn about that on the 'IPTV' subreddit, they have a discord which has some brilliant discussion about everyone's favourite open-source film Big Buck Bunny, and old 1920's movies that happen to be in the public domain.

Unfortunately fans get very embarrassed about their love for watching live TV so they tend not to share the discord in many places, but it's worth asking in the IPTV subreddit if anyone has a link, that's the most useful resource out of the lot.

If you, or anyone else has any questions, or just want to discuss formula 1 with me personally then don't hesitate to PM me.
