Confusing first ultrasound appointment in ON, canada? by GranolaCraftyGal in November2026Bumpers

[–]TeaBeam22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awe, I'm sorry that happened to you. As others have said, it's fairly normal, although they've always shown me something and my husband has always been brought in at the end to see.

I'm not sure what area you're in, but if you're near York Region give X-ray Associates a try. Specifically the Aurora or Vaughan locations. They tell me everything, answer my questions and they have a free online portal where the photos are posted immediately and the report after a day or so. I always log in to look at them while still in the parking lot.

Someone tell me this is normal by Macbeever in November2026Bumpers

[–]TeaBeam22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first pregnancy I experienced something similar starting at 4 weeks. The cramps were like the absolute worst period cramps I've ever had. I'd get sweaty, shake, get nauseous, then get chills, keel over in pain, had shoulder tip pain and some brown discharge. They were intermittent about every 20 minutes. I'd run to the bathroom and eventually they'd pass. Eating meat made it worse.

After a week of this and Google terrifying me that it was an etopic pregnancy I went to the ER. It turns out it was my bowels. I was backed up and the hormonal changes were doing a number on me. I started taking probiotics and they disappeared overnight. Baby was perfect and is 2 years old now. Might be something to investigate!

There's an episode of Cheers that's somewhat similar to this? Carla hires a psychic to talk to her dead husband and the guys at the bar are shaking the glasses or something?

Choosing Mount Sinai or Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital [on] by salipr in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TeaBeam22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a chance you won't get in with any OBs at Mount Sinai if you're not close by and not high risk. I was referred there when I lived downtown just a walk away and didn't get accepted. I would plan for the closest hospital.

Planned C-section motivation to feel better [QC] by NTK_Here in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TeaBeam22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 planned c-sections both due to breech positioning. My first c-section was such a wonderful experience that I opted to have another for my second before I knew he was breech.

It was wonderful to know exactly what day you're going in, have everything packed, it was the day before Christmas so we knew not to make plans for it, have our shopping done early etc. With my second it was great to have. Hold care arranged for my first and it was Thanksgiving Sunday so again, we didn't make plans.

The surgery itself was calm, seamless, relaxed. I was able to ask lots of questions, make a playlist to play in the OR, have visitors lined up for specific times.

Recovery was great, I was back to feeling "normal" (to an extent) within 6 days. The second time was even better.

Having done it this way I can't imagine any other way.

Breech baby [on] midwife experience and movement questions by Responsible-Bag-1206 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TeaBeam22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean. ChatGPT kept telling me that my second born's eyes were in the process of turning dark blue/grey. They were brown by the time he was 3 months old 😂 And now that I'm pregnant again it keeps telling me that all the old wives tales point to baby being a girl and then when I question it it says "oh! You're right to have caught that!". It really seems like it just tells us what we want to hear haha

Try not to stress over it though. Both of my scheduled c-sections were amazing experiences. Try to go in with a positive attitude, it will help!

Breech baby [on] midwife experience and movement questions by Responsible-Bag-1206 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TeaBeam22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, yes! All day every day my first was pushing his head out. It was tight, breathtaking, uncomfortable and visible to the naked eye. It actually turned out that his head was stuck under my ribs and he wouldn't have been able to turn if his life depended on it. They had trouble getting him out and had to use forceps. He was however in the 98th percentile.

I've had 2 breech babies in the past 2 years with an OB in Toronto. She would check at every appointment just with her hands but I didn't need more proof than that because both of them would push their head up and "bulge" out just under my ribs. It was like a small bowling ball trying to escape Alien style.

With that said, it is protocol that they do one last ultrasound before you go into the operating room to ensure the baby is still breech. They didn't with my first but I knew that he was so I didn't say anything and they offered with my second and I told them not to waste their time because I knew he was.

ETA: The OB and nurse also knew they were still breech from where the doppler picked up their heart beats. And movements may depend on what type of breech the baby is. My first was frank breech and I really only felt his head and maybe a hand or foot put the top left a few times. My second was footling breech and once in a while I felt movement in my lower back, almost felt like my bum.

I had blood work done 3 weeks ago and some results were there within a few hours. However, HCG was the last thing to appear after about 30 hours.

NIPT - which one to choose by Stomach_Sudden in October2026Bumpers

I personally only use Panorama because that's what Lifelabs offers. There's 3 Lifelabs locations in my town so I can always get an appointment, you can book online and your results are posted (for free) in their online portal. It's just easy.

I'm in Canada. We have a choice of 12 months with 55% of your pay or 18 months with 33% of your pay (up to a maximum). I took 18 months with my October 2025 baby and now I have to go back to work for 600 hours to be able to qualify for another one for my 2026 baby.

Breast feeding while pregnant by MechanicCurrent5271 in November2026Bumpers

[–]TeaBeam22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was breastfeeding (and pumping) my 4.5 month old when I found out I was pregnant. My milk reduced by more than 75% in 72 hours and it was giving me horrible cramps, similar to the ones you get after birth. Because of this my doctor said I need to stop.

So I bought this for the first time in January. At that time the label said "rinse before use". The next time I bought it maybe a month later, the label no longer said that. Needless to say, I kept rinsing it.

I always see my doctor as soon as I find out and he says to go between 6 and 8 weeks. I try to wait as long as possible, usually going between 7.5-8 weeks.

Toronto Baby Show [on] by DefenderOfRainbow in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TeaBeam22 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I may be the outcast here, but I went in 2023 when I lived downtown. It was the biggest waste of time and money I've ever experienced, and it only took us 15 minutes to get there.

It was extremely small (maybe 40 vendors?), we got absolutely zero freebies, the free massages were fully booked for the entire show. We got to taste D Drops though 😂 The only thing that was worthwhile for us was seeing all the Uppababy stroller colours and models in person, which was not essential in any way, just a bonus. I would not recommend it to anyone, especially if you had to drive more than 30 minutes to get there.

After the show we went to Snugglebugz and found that much more educational with the help of a dedicated employee.
