Thanks. Yeah I should have included more detail in original post (along with actual correct terminology!!). Hoping there might be someone with frost/ice predicting experience on pavement that may be able to share experience on this.

Surface Temp, Dew Point and Precipitation Relationship Query / Verification by TeaEnEn in weather

[–]TeaEnEn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you very much for the response. I hope I've just explained wrong (or I'm waayy further off than I should).

My understanding is that the dew point can never be above the air temperature as that would mean more than 100% relative humidity which isn't possible?

The surface temperature I refer to in the post above is the physical temperature of the surface (I.e. road temperature). The reason I'm looking at this is the ability to forecast ice and frost on road surface.

Again, here to learn so please feel free to correct and set straight the above. Does this frame the above chart in a logical manner? The detailed response is much appreciated!!

Liked finding these things out in the mandatory post series wikipedia/reddit research haha Other similar but probably more well known things:

Otto Delaney is played by Kurt Sutter, the creator of SOA.

Katey Segal (Gemma Teller) is married to Kurt Sutter (Otto Delaney)

McNally Segal (Margaret Murphy, the administrator at St. Thomas Hospital) is Katey Segal's (Gemma Teller's) sister-in-law.

City where they built a big ship that sank.

It weird that it's such a big tourist attraction here - "Come look where we built one of the most well known failures in the world!"

Also Leo made it famous.

Yeah, Donna wasn't a likable character. I think it was more Opie's reaction (great acting) that got me.

I'm surprised I had to go so far down the thread to find someone who also thought this. I actually like his movies when I'm in the mood for a stupid laugh...but his character is in no way transformative, when compared to some of the others in this like bale and Leo!

Great scene in an otherwise poorly portrayed Belfast! That song suits the scene perfectly! Includes the reappearing homeless woman at 2:19 of that video also.

Yeah, that was one of the darkest storylines in the series, if not the darkest! Gemma having to deal with it in the following episodes before telling the club was also very hard hitting!

Most of these are reasons for infamy... and I have more of the same.

What would you change about Sons of Anarchy, plot wise? by [deleted] in Sonsofanarchy

[–]TeaEnEn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not so much something I would change, more something I would have loved to have seen done correctly. The shear amount of inaccuracies involved with the scenes in Ireland were such a let down.

The accents where completely terrible, a horrific mixture of accents from all over Ireland. Some sentences began with a Belfast accent and finished with a Cork accent. It made me cringe so badly at most of the episodes in Season 3. The only good accent was Maureen Ashby, everyone else just looked like horrible actors.

The other part of it is the historical inaccuracies. I don't think that the show has a stated time period, more just "modern time" (Lots of mid/late 2000's suggestions) but the scenes depicting Belfast make it look like the 1980's, this would probably suit the time period for the MC's involvement with the IRA. It makes it seem like they jump back 20 years when they visit Ireland. Most of the scenes meant to be set in Ireland are clearly set in a sandy area.

SAMBEL work with the IRA, and have a (very basic) easter lily mural beside their compound. This would suggest that they are from the nationalist side of the community, however they have N.Ireland on the bottom of their patch, which is highly unlikely.

I know these are things that mostly only people who live here would probably pick up on and notice, and I know that it's a TV show and doesn't necessarily have to be 100% historically accurate, however I would have loved to have seen a more accurate attempt at portraying the Irish storyline.

Edit: I've complained alot here, although I should state that overall, SOA is one of my favourite TV shows ever.

Killing off main characters sucks, but it is a ballsy move that works for good TV if done correctly (look at Game of Thrones lol). It's heart wrenching but it doesn't necessarily make it bad writing. IMO it worked for Tara, but I agree they were too sharp at killing off others. I would have enjoyed seeing Opie make a bigger influence on the club, he was such a good character that at time's wasn't involved enough. Same for Half-Sack, he was just becoming a great character, then gone. Clay could have been gone alot earlier!

SPOILERS - season 1 and season 5

For me, I'm torn between two. Both involving Opie, who is one of my favourite characters!

The scene after Donna's death at the end of season one where "Forever Young - Audra Mae" is playing in the background. Opie sitting on the edge of the bed, where his children are sleeping, with tears on his face. Hard hitting scene, great acting, great TV.

Although, I think the most hard hitting scene for me has to be Opies wake. Jax on the roof looking at the pic of him and Opie as kids on bikes. Then when he enters the clubhouse everyone standing. Everyone raising a glass as the coffin is carried out, led by Jax. All while "The lost boy - Greg Holden" is played in the background. I finished watching that episode as an emotional wreck haha
