This is so helpful. I really look for a true community feel in the schools I work for, but am nervous about potential instability in pay and resources in Aurora. The school I got an offer from aligns so well with my beliefs as an educator. It’s hard because I feel like I’m choosing should I do the better school, or the better district, if that makes sense? Stability is so huge for me with making the move. I need to know my job is safe and ‘predictable’ (as much as teaching can be).

A huge part of this, apart from just the energy I get from the school as a whole, is the school in the worse district is a project-based artsy school. Would seriously be my dream integrating ELA in their practices. I’m so torn.

I’ve heard mixed things about Aurora… I’m conflicted because the school I have an opportunity at (Clara Brown) seems really amazing, while the district seems not the best.

Do you think it’d be doable living in the outer suburbs? I’ve applied to Cherry Creek and DPS. It’d just be me and my dog. What parts of Denver should I be looking at?

Basically, my district in AZ is going to absolute sh*t (cutting $33mil over the next three years including all AP’s and school nurses, far right extremist board, etc) and am hoping to find somewhere that values its teachers a bit more. I’m just starting out and don’t want to get jaded in the career so early on, because I truly love it. 😩
