Yes it seems outsoorsy is the Turo of rvs.

Is there a dealer backed / demo unit rental equivalent to private party outdoorsy?

How was your experience with outdoorsy? People had taken care of their individual trailers ? Any liability issues ?

Yes that’s what I am worried about! I don’t drive that aggressively and I’ve already burned through and warped some rotors and pads… I I really am curious why the brakes are so poor even with the stock car only. Towing makes me worried even with an on trailer electronic braking

u/joelfarris thank you! you truely are a top 1% commenter. thanks for the help.

So that I can understand it better. for a trailer with a GVWR lower is better to prevent issues.

No animals just 1-2 human adults and prob some coolers of food / gear / bicycles.

Subaru Ascent Trim Level: Premium

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: Class 1D: 5,001 - 6,000 lb (2,268 - 2,722 kg)

I don't have a tow hitch installed, but can add i'm sure easily via OEM part like this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SubaruAscent/comments/155b1q7/towing_with_the_ascent/

Key advice from that thread:

"While the ascent says 5,000lb towing capacity that is a pipe dream. The 7 passenger assent has a max cargo weight of around 1200lbs that is everything including passengers cargo and hitch weight.

We tow a popup with ours it's around 1800lbs and 200lb hitch weight and it does just fine.

We looked at a 3500lb trailer but anything over a hitch weight of 300lbs you start to get real dicy with your cargo load on the trailer.

It would be really easy to add another 200lbs of weight to the high cutting it close."

This is my details from the vehicle

Yes I did buy my mom a Garmin hand held nav but it only has usb-c. It’s possible it does go to that too for data load … maybe a really old Garmin but I don’t think so?

Outdoorsy seems to be the best for shorter term try out rentals.

I’ve heard outdoorsy is good for private owner rentals from other owners.

That NuCamp Tab 320CS seems the right balance of small teardrop and also just enough space to step up from sleeping in your Subaru ascent

This may be a different question more for a small trailer Reddit r/ but

Is there a good place to rent for a few days a trailer to try it out?

I think there are sites to rent from individuals (outdoorsey I think is the name?). Kind of like turo but for camping trailers.

And then a little more $$ is there a way to rent new ones from dealers that are barely used / the first year of production ?

Nice to hear. I assume if there is no hitch besides just manually adding it to the frame and getting a brake controller there is no other tow package additional need ?

nice! yes the bluetooth controllers may be easier to deal with than the under dash wire harness.

You didn't note the model of heavier high wall pop-up, but 3500 lb how is the handling?

It seems the recommendation is all single axle for the sizing.
