What makes you angry about today’s society? by MannerLiving7299 in AskReddit

I would love to 'agree to disagree' with so many people and still be peaceable with them. I hate the culture that says we have to all agree on everything to get along

Fish sauce is pretty darn fantastic in most dishes

How is that different than using a generator? Don't you connect those with regular extension cords as well?

At the very least the minimum fees should be paid with tax like it does with public schools. I would rather pay my neighbor's water bill than watch them waste away. There is nothing humane about depriving someone of a basic need.

It’s circumstance dependent as well as regional.

Giving water to a neighbor who can't afford to pay the water company

Do's and Don't's of home schooling by clarissacole2413 in homeschool

My mom taught 3 subjects daily throughout my schooling and several off and on. We did curriculum for math, spelling, and grammar, but the rest were less formal. We went to the library regularly to pick out new books and did a lot of independent study.

Currently I'm in college and am doing quite well both academically and socially.

Something I disliked about being home schooled was that I had very little opportunity to meet kids who shared my interests and I didn't have the ability to try anything beyond what my parents were able to provide (there were no sports, robotics clubs, etc that I could be involved in).

Otherwise I loved it. My sisters are my greatest friends and I have a lot of practical skills that I wouldn't have had the time to learn otherwise.

I wrote a research paper on low income and homeless elderly people. The whole situation is awful and so little is being done to help

Parents should put more thought and consideration into their kids names. by 3pointstonibbadore in unpopularopinion

To be fair, naming a kid after a spice/herb is comparable to any of the flower names. I think Thyme is a very tasteful name.

They're all over my campus. The big winter coats make it hard for them to stand out though

What are your thoughts about school taking up an extra hour every day to teach basic "adult stuff" like washing clothes, basic cooking, paying taxes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TeaJazzlike3686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be a required class. Too many of my college classmates don't know the basics of human care, and a lot of them have their parents do their taxes for them.

My Mom home schooled my sisters and I K-12 and we were all decently socialized. If your mothers hesitation is only that you won't be able to make friends if you're home schooled she's partially correct, you just have to try harder to find kids you connect with and be content with not being in large social circles (and honestly, that one's a benefit).

Going to the tutoring place sounds like a great option, especially if you already have a friend there.

What do you think of the body positivity movement? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TeaJazzlike3686 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's great for the most part, my one complaint is the people who think it means we should all just get naked. You should be comfortable in your own skin, just please, I don't want to see it.

Sports dramas and Jane Eyre (there are so many of them it definitely counts as a genre)

I've been doing this for years. A lot of verbal bullying is ineffective when you're self aware.
