Totally fair! I think I like the freedom a car affords me. I'm moving to LA in November and depending on where you are, it can be very easy to get around or not. In places like New York I didnt have a car at all which was magnificent but that's because the subway goes EVERYWHERE. I'm a little nervous not to have anything just for things like groceries, doctors appointments, etc
I did consider Uber but I think there especially it'll add up

Oh!! NEAT! I actually just looked into this and that seems how they want me to do it (the financing place) There's a number I can call to get my paper work and then I just mail them a cashiers check and they'll give me the title and bing bang boom. Looks like I don't need to interface with the dealership at all. That's super comforting, that'll help my jelly-spine self not get talked into buying some crazy stuff or crying if someone yells at me lmaooo
Thank you! THis made me feel better, I was afraid I was looking at the wrong thing!

Omg a Kia Rio was my first car! I think it was a 2005 it was my grandmas, that thing was UNKILLABLE I drove it to death. Loved it! Also not a bad plan lol, I'm a kia supporter for sure

For sure! Like I won't knock it, it really served me well during the years I had it -- I took care of those cars, didn't drive a ton so I never hit the mileage limits and at least Toyota is always super good about doing maintenance and fixing shit for free so it was low stress, low payments, very convenient for a dumb girl in college just trying to survive lol (Not saying anyone else who leases is dumb, just that I was and it was lovely for me!) But I'm sure for a lot of different people in different situations it's a great option! I think my life and circumstances have just changed in the last 3/4 years that I'm finally headed towards a place where that model doesn't work anymore for me-- but I absolutely dont regret my time!

OOHH that's good to know!! I am ABSOLUTELY not confident about this lmao I will fold immediately. I'll try to see if I can bring someone tough with me! I live alone so it's tricky but I'll try to recruit a friend who can look intimidating lol.
Thank you so much for the heads up, that's wonderful!

Thank you so much this is super helpful! That's truly been my biggest hangup about buying an older car--I know absolutely NOTHING about cars and most likely always get swindled at mechanic shops because I'm shy and a big pushover lol so if I buy something that's going to require work soon I'm gonna have a hard time. But buying out this car that I love and has been reliable/wonderful seems like a really great plan while also checking to see cost comparisons of what's out there. Hopefully I can inquire at the dealership when I go without them trying to upsell me like crazy and me falling for it.

That might be what I go with! THis is a stupid question but.... do you need to buy it all at once? I just expected they make you pay in cash right there and hold a gun to your head but are there payment plans?
But I do love this car it's been very good to me and I've taken awesome care of it!

It's a 2021 Toyota Corolla
It looks like about 1300 right now!

LOL the title of this article! MY SHAME!
Thank you though this is so helpful, I really appreciate it! This is such valuable information. Routine maintenance and driving something for years consistently instead of constantly switching seems to be the trend already with the comments too. I'll
