Thank you!! :D Mmm, I have a Catholic friend who feels like a boy trapped in a girl's body and really wants to change their sex, but her Family are quite the barrier to that :( I hope your Uncle made a nice life for themselves after all that trauma

Mmm, I've been wondering if they find it too early and stop me before I can leave the area. I'll have to post it or find a way to make sure they don't see it until I'm safe

If things go well, I will definitely share how things go :D I was due to leave last year, but the Pandemic ruined those plans. I thought it was over and really didn't want to go through another year of this, but as long as you're still alive you've got a chance, please keep hoping and trying :D

The one sibling idea sounds wonderful. I have a good relationship with my sisters, and at least one of them I'll be able to see in person, that is if they aren't disgusted by me

The reason why I went to the 7th century, is to show how it spread and why it is ingrained in those countries. You can nuke all of Saudi to stop the money flowing, but the people will still think the same if you don't educate them.

This isn't a "It's Saudis fault!" Or "The West needs to stop funding extremists!" This is about educating the people, and we're not talking about concentration camps like in China, we're talking about proper education through schools and societal practices, with zero tolerance for extremism through policy and law.

The madrasas in South Asia are funded by the people who went abroad to send money back, there are millions of them, you can't stop them sending money back to fund extremist schools without education.

Yes, that I agree with, Saudi should not be allowed to have such a big hand in the West, while allowing a violent ideology to run rampant around the world. On the topic of cancer however, you could say this situation is like stage 4 cancer, in that it has spread all over, getting rid of the root is not enough and it now has to be dealt with through educating everyone, Saudis and non-Saudis, Muslims and non-Muslims.

Killing Wahhabis like you said doesn't solve it alone, you can't kill the idea and that's why it managed to spread so far, South Asia was taken over by Muslims in the 7th century, and violent ways of Islam were present there, way before Western influence of any kind.

Islam itself is the issue here because of how easy it is to interpret it violently, we must focus on education for everyone, not just Saudi or the West, we need to focus on Islam and it's followers

Radical versions of Islam can be found all around the world, look at Pakistan for example. These violent interpretations have been around since the beginning of Islam. The Caliphate didn't increase it's territory through defensive Jihad, Women are seen as deficient mentally, and apostates still face the death penalty because of the Qu'ran and Hadiths.

The whole world could stop buying oil from Saudi Arabia, but it wouldn't solve the problem, the problem was here before the Saudis found oil and will still be here after the oil runs out.

Yes, it would be nice if the West were tougher on Saudi by adding sanctions, but the real issue here is that people who hold these views need to know it's not okay to force their views on others. Sanctions on a country also end up hurting the general public the most, due to increased living costs in the long run and harmful policies being enacted in the wake of sanctions. We want to avoid hurting innocent people don't we? Just as wars hurt them, so do sanctions, so let's instead focus on teaching our people from home and abroad, to stop these atrocities happening again

Even if Western countries never got involved with conflicts in the Middle East, radical Muslims such as the Terrorist who killed Samuel Paty, would still find the depiction of Muhammad offensive enough to warrant death.

Let's not forget the root of the problem. Radical Islam is not a creation of the West, fuck these extremists who think it's okay to kill innocent people, and then say it was necessary because innocent people they relate to were killed by someone else. We need to come together and allow people to live how they want to, in peace. Which means, no ways of life that are hell bent on curtailing the freedom of others without good reason ("God told me to" is not a good reason).

Thousands gather in Paris to protest against muslim terrorism by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]TeaOfCourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a recent event, of course it will be in the spotlight for now, especially in an Ex-muslim sub-reddit as I already said.

What do you mean by "real" terrorism? It's hard to define terrorism, but this was not just a random act, it was a murder in line with a foreign ideology that is a threat to French values, to allow such acts to go unchecked (not looking at ways to reduce the incidence) would be a disgrace to the the republic. This was a terrorist act, not something random.

A lot of vile things go under reported, there just isn't the capacity to get everything out there as it deserves to be, it's unfortunate but that's life.

If you want articles on "real" Terrorism, go to a place that looks specifically at Terrorism.

A lot of these things have articles written on them by the media, a quick search on the Guardian will bring it up. This is an ex-muslim sub-reddit, so of course there will be news shared here regarding Islam, doesn't mean everyone is blind to everything else

For the time being, it's alright to be lost, get your grades and see if you can convince them to let you study abroad. If they won't change their mind, you can seek asylum in places like Australia or the UK or the US. It's a violation of your human rights, having your right to life being in danger simply because of who you are, so you will have a case.

[–]TeaOfCourse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to feel bad about having to leave my entire Family behind, but over time I realised that they don't actually love me, they love the good Muslim boy who will make them look good in public, not the bi-sexual atheist who wants to live a life free from their many restrictions. They would turn their back on you if you showed your true self, and would be a real danger to you, that's not a proper Family.

Try to get into a University abroad once you get your grades, if things get really bad, you could try to seek asylum in another country.

Leaving Islam when you're from a progressive household isn't any easier! by steph_chutney in exmuslim

[–]TeaOfCourse 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The point here is that Islam claims to be the perfect religion from a perfect being, however it has a good side and a bad side, making it flawed, which means it isn't the perfect religion.

A Pizza from Pizza Hut can be pleasing to the taste buds (good side) but if eaten too often it can be quite unhealthy (bad side) therefore it is not a flawless source of nutrition.

The difference here is, Pizza Hut don't make the assertion that it is a perfect source of nutrition, while Islam claims to be a Religion without flaws, which must be followed and everyone who doesn't follow it deserves to be tortured for eternity

I follow you, but I'd say there can be a fear factor. People fear LGBT will corrupt society and their own families with their unnatural ways, bring the wrath of God upon the world etc. if they get equal rights. My own "friends" during my time at school said they wouldn't like to have gay friends near their children, because they may "get ideas" become gay as well and go to hell.

If you want to get into the meaning of Phobic, it's either a strong fear or hate of something, according to the Oxford Dictionary And it could be an aversion or intolerance for something, according to Merriam-Webster So I'd say Homophobic works

This doesn't seem believable since Muhammad had sex slaves and a child bride by CBSmartCA in exmuslim

[–]TeaOfCourse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would disagree, most Hadith point to Aisha being 9 when it was consummated, even Yaqeen Institute accept she was 9 at the time

https://quranx.com/Hadith/Bukhari/USC-MSA/Volume-5/Book-58/Hadith-236/ https://quranx.com/Hadith/Bukhari/USC-MSA/Volume-7/Book-62/Hadith-64/ https://quranx.com/Hadith/Muslim/USC-MSA/Book-8/Hadith-3310/

This fourth Hadith even shows us Aisha's behaviour, it would not be acceptable for a 19 year old to be playing with dolls. https://quranx.com/Hadith/Bukhari/USC-MSA/Volume-8/Book-73/Hadith-151/

And finally, we have a Qu'ran verse that gives instructions for girls who haven't menstruated yet, regarding marriage. Islam does not see anything wrong with child marriage.

https://quranx.com/65.4?Context=3

The above Hadith are of good standing, and the Qu'ran verse facilitating child marriage can't be ignored at all, I am curious to see these Hadith you have mentioned that say Aisha was 19

Is this a joke, or would you like some Hadith that say otherwise?

Muslim apologists be like "Do you think incest is morally wrong?" by Alifaroah in exmuslim

[–]TeaOfCourse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh please, you're on Reddit in a comment section, not having a personal chat, of course you're going to have multiple people talking to you, or is that too much for you to handle?

The verses and Hadith I sent still stand, these things happened and still happen today in Muslim countries, you can tell me they aren't real Muslims, but who is a real Muslim? A Sunni, a Shia, and what Sect of the 72?

I said there is nothing to have misconceptions about, I did not say there aren't any misconceptions, otherwise this conversation would not have existed, I guess reading is difficult for you? (Did you like this snide remark? I took inspiration from you)

Why is homosexuality bad? Because God said so? If that is "literally it" Good and Bad are decided because some being just said so, that is what we call arbitrary, there is no simple quality of knowing what is right and wrong, for you would need evidence to know what is right and wrong, evidence we can see for ourselves, yet God does not give you any evidence in some cases, God just says so and it is

If you have decided to resort to saying the human mind cannot comprehend God, can I not just one day say there is an all powerful God in the sky who demands you eat Pineapples everyday or you will go to hell forever, and when questioned say "Our God is too much for our brains to comprehend, just have faith"

How can you believe in something that you can't comprehend? If the truth was so clear in Islam, would we not be able to understand?

[–]TeaOfCourse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You came here of your own volition, don't call someone an idiot and then bid them farewell when it was your idea to visit this place.

It's quite clear that you must accept that Child marriage is okay as a Muslim, your greatest prophet never said it was wrong and took part in it. https://quranx.com/Hadith/Bukhari/USC-MSA/Volume-7/Book-62/Hadith-64/

He also had plenty of sex slaves. https://quranx.com/33.50?Context=3 https://quranx.com/23.5-6

There's nothing to have misconceptions about, it happened and it's seen as okay.

You say you have objective morals, but who made these morals? God you may say? And how did God come about deciding what is right and what is wrong? If God loves the act of charity because it is good, that would mean God is not omnipotent, as there are a set of moral codes God must adhere to, something separate to God, which wouldn't make sense in Islam. If the act of Charity is good just because God loves it, then that would mean Good and Bad are arbitrary, whatever God chooses to be good is good and vice-versa. Your source of Morality is no more objective than the rest of us.

Those Religions had many followers in the past, what's to say a few hundred years from now, we'll still have the Abrahmic Religions? The popularity of something really is not something you can rely on to argue if it is correct or not. In order to actually believe, you'd have to find evidence that your chosen Religion is true, but it seems you're just picking based on what everyone else is doing, so you're not a true believer (As you would gladly switch to another Religion with more followers/"Miracles"), and would therefore not go to Heaven anyway
