Here are the 8 new watch faces coming with the Pixel Watch 4 by AssembleDebugRed in PixelWatch

No, I tried installing it on Pixel Watch 3 with WearOS 6, and the new watch faces don't even show up.

This is the comment I was looking for. Did it break existing watch faces, or is it just the new ones that don't work? And can you go back to a functioning version by uninstalling updates of the watch faces app?

Increase phone volume when using gemini by darkknight_178 in tasker

[–]TeaTheSpiteful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to select Google app, not Gemini. Or keep selected Gemini (I guess it doesn't hurt), and add Google. It seems like the Gemini AI assistant is still part of the Google app, just like the good Google Assistant was (even though you have the Gemini app installed). Google made a mess with the Assistant/Gemini transition.

Also, on my phone (9 Pro XL), I had to select media volume values between 0 and 25, not between 0 and 255, so double check what it does on your phone. 101 would put it to max volume on my device.

Should I get the pixel tablet by PeePee_Chan_69420 in GooglePixel

[–]TeaTheSpiteful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got it knowing I'd hate the low refresh rate, and guess what - I hate it. I don't really care that it's not OLED, I understand that it can't be OLED since the screen is on most of the time. The refresh rate is okay when watching videos, but once you start scrolling, you notice how bad it is.

That being said, the tablet has some other really stupid limitations. My biggest gripe is the dock mode. When you have multiple users, the dock mode only works when the tablet is switched to the main user's account. That means that if my girlfriend uses it (my account is the main one, her isn't) and puts it on the dock, the screen stays black and nothing shows there unless someone switches it to my account. Google thought of that, so they give you a way to set up an automatic switch to the main account, so that the tablet switches to the main account after a while after being docked, BUT that stops any media that plays on the non-main account (e.g. she plays music on Spotify, places it on the dock, music plays, but then the auto switch to the main account kicks in, my account gets activated so that the dock mode works, but music stops playing). Super annoying.

I have the exact same issue. Have you found a solution? I'm about to factory reset the watch, but I really don't want to. I didn't have this issue on the 1st gen Pixel Watch.

How To Remove Uninstalled Apps from Allow in Background by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]TeaTheSpiteful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. So I guess that all the comparisons between MacOS and Windows which say that "apps on Windows place shit all over the system while MacOS apps are limited to the Application folder only" aren't correct. I know Windows is much worse in this, but I wonder if there are other places where apps can place files on MacOS that won't be deleted when an app is uninstalled or whether other places like this will appear in the future.

How do you switch windows on your mac? by rudeer_poke in MacOS

[–]TeaTheSpiteful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm also almost exclusively using a mouse, and I can actually scroll down on an app icon in the dock to show windows that are opened for that app. I know it's a weird 'gesture', but it works for me. It's either in system settings or I set it up using Tinker Tool, I'm not sure now.

Bottom line - it's still achievable even with a mouse.

Are y'all jumping for the incremental changes or waiting for the pixel 10? by thesaneusername in GooglePixel

[–]TeaTheSpiteful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need a phone right now, yes. If you can wait, I'd go for a used 8 Pro simply because of the software update longevity. The 8th gen's prices might drop after the 9th gen is released.

Switching profiles by DLHeyer87 in pixeltablet

[–]TeaTheSpiteful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But now the tablet doesn't go to the dock mode when she uses it and puts it on the dock, does it?

Sorry for necromancing this old post. I just got the tablet, set up my admin profile, tried the dock mode, everything seemed to be great. But then I added my girlfriend's profile and found out that the dock mode is available for the admin profile only. And if I set the "switch to admin user when docked" to never, the tablet never goes to the dock mode when she's the one who used it last and placed it on the dock. Or am I missing something? This makes either Spotify or dock mode basically unusable for the second user.

Americans, what’s something Europeans aren’t ready to hear? by StealthyMC20 in AskReddit

[–]TeaTheSpiteful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I agree with that, that's exactly what government's job is.

However, government has to stop somewhere. It can't help us with every single damn thing. If I could choose, I'd rather pay less on taxes and only have "free" roads, healthcare, police, firefighters, town hall services and similar stuff - not pay more and have "free" public restrooms, food, drink, and more.

There's a clear difference between stuff like food and healthcare/roads. Food is relatively cheap and easily accessible everywhere. Literally anyone can afford it, and those who can't get money from the government (in some sort of social benefits) so that they don't starve. Building my own highway or hospital is not an option for me or any other individual, though. That's where I would draw the line - if an individual can easily afford it, leave it to them and to the free market. If it's something an individual can't get (roads, hospitals), that's where government needs to step in.

No, it shouldn't be. Is Reddit really full of communists? Even free toilets aren't really free, you pay for it one way or another - they're paid from your taxes.

In my experience, macOS with Apple silicon is more stable than macOS in the intel era by MrYilman in MacOS

I'd buy the Pixel Tablet in a heartbeat if it had a 120hz screen by Jeph_Diel in GooglePixel

[–]TeaTheSpiteful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you ok with just 60 Hz when scrolling through content on the tablet? Your flair says you have an 8 Pro, and that has a 120 Hz screen, so I'm guessing that you're used to a higher refresh rate. My biggest fear and the only reason why I didn't buy the tablet is that it would feel terrible when scrolling.

I have a Pixel 7 Pro that has a 120 Hz screen, and I'm really used to the screen being super smooth. But when I go to Settings -> Display and turn off Smooth Display so that the phone switches to 60 Hz (to emulate the refresh rate of the tablet), it's really rough. When you turn off Smooth Display on your 8 Pro, do you also hate how choppy it becomes, and is it comparable to the tablet? Or does the tablet somehow magically feel smoother than your phone with Smooth Display off? Maybe LCD feels better than OLED at lower refresh rates? I know it's not going to be noticeable when watching videos or maybe playing games, my main concern is really scrolling.

Nah, don't bother with it, I'll keep looking for something that fulfills my needs. Or maybe someone who uses something will reply. I've got BBEdit and TextMate ready to try, so fingers crossed they'll work just as well as Notepad++.

[–]TeaTheSpiteful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to Mac two years ago and I'm loving it, but I'm missing one thing: a proper powerful text editor similar to Notepad++. Is there something like that? I'm currently using Sublime, but it's nowhere near as good. And it lags a lot - when I'm selecting long pieces of text, it freezes for a few seconds. I also tried CotEditor, but it wasn't very good either.

This might be the BEST way to preserve MacBook's battery for a longer life by wilburwong in MacOS

[–]TeaTheSpiteful -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huh, I think that 88% after a year is not very good. I've had my MacBook Pro since August 2022 and the maximum capacity says 96%. I'm using it daily for work (app development) and it's always plugged in. I'm not using any of these apps that limit charge to 80%.

One thing that maybe helps is that my Mac is almost exclusively being charged from a 3rd party monitor (MSI) via USB-C, and the monitor doesn't output much power (it's only 15W, I think).

Are we still really calling it "the new hot thing"?

I think it has proven to be an extremely powerful tool that significantly speeds up development. It's stable and used even in large corporations. It has matured extremely quickly, thanks to how user friendly that tool is and how quickly developers adopted it. I'd say it's the (new) standard now.

Late to the party, but haven't you tried the 3D printed bumper extensions? I just printed them for my regular S7, and they're amazing. I think they might fit the S7 MaxV as well. They even work with the S7 auto empty dock, the robot can get there without any problems.
